About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 4

Wake up among the treetops at this two-bedroom Gualala retreat, a stunningly situated redwood escape with a private hot tub, a wrap-around deck with woodland and ocean views, and a wondrous location along the Northern California Coast. Please note that due to the open loft, this home is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

You'll find this cozy treehouse in a dense grove of coastal redwoods, just four miles north of the charming shops, markets, and galleries in downtown Gualala. Wake up to gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean through the trees, take long, leisurely drives along a spectacular stretch of California Highway 1, and watch unforgettable sunsets from the Point Arena Lighthouse 16 miles north.

The living space is an ode to the home's natural surroundings, with an abundance of exposed wood and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the redwoods. Curl up in the window seat with an engrossing novel from the shelves, flip through the cable offerings on the flatscreen TV, and use the free WiFi to plan hikes, nature walks, and picnics in the surrounding hills.

Whip up homemade breakfasts in the full kitchen each morning, and bring your coffee outside to the picnic table on the wrap-around deck. Spend your days whale watching on the shores of Gualala Point Regional Park or teeing off at the Sea Ranch Golf Links 19 miles south, and end the evenings with a relaxing soak in the private hot tub beneath the treetops before cuddling up by the fire.

Find rest, relaxation, romance, and unrivaled natural beauty at this special Gualala home - book your stay on the wild Northern California Coast today!

* Please note that both bedrooms and the bathroom are on the second floor, and that the second bedroom is accessed through the loft.

About Vacasa, CA - Northern California Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

What you see is what you get

The redwood cabin was exactly what we wanted....the floor to ceiling windows, pine trees, piece and quiet and amazing hot tub! Yes, I will admit when we arrived the cabin did have a musty odor but after we settled in, I didn't notice it again. We have a 9 and 12 year old and the cabin was perfect for our family. I do want to stress something I missed when we signed up...the bedroom, loft and bathroom are upstairs. I focused more on the photos and it didn't appear the bedroom was upstairs with it's own deck. There are two markets near by and keep in mind if your heading to Mendocino or Fort Bragg it will be 1 - 1.5 hour drive each way. The whole family can't wait to plan a return visit!

Nice views, the great hot tub and deck, but smelly interior

  • 3 of 5

This place is very quiet, secluded, and has a nice view of redwoods and a small view of the ocean. It is quite lovely to sit in the hot tub on the outdoor deck and be in your own little paradise among the trees. The interior is clean but as the previous reviewer said it has a very strong unpleasant musty smell. It smells like an old cabin that has been shut up for 6 months. It looks like there has been water damage at one point and that may contribute to the odor. A good deep cleaning and deodorizing would be beneficial. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: We apologize if there's a persistent odor in the home. We will continue to work on removing it. We do have spring deep cleans scheduled that should help. Thank you!

Perfect Romantic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin in the woods made us feel like we were the only two people on Earth! View of the ocean from every room. A good soak in the hot tub was just what we needed after a day of exploring the beaches. The cabin had a well-stocked kitchen, and we were able to find everything we needed at Surf Market to prepare our meals. We love the North Coast and will definitely come back to this romantic retreat as soon as we can!

Romantic Getaway With Breathtaking Views!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this little cabin in the woods! Perfect for a getaway without the kids. Tucked away in a redwood grove with a beautiful view of the ocean, this cabin had everything we needed. We can’t wait to return for another soak in the hot tub! We will most definitely be back!

Redwood House - Buyer Beware

  • 1 of 5

If you are considering this house, please look at the photos carefully and understand that they were either enhanced in Photoshop or were taken many, many years ago. The overall condition of the house is outdated and not well-maintained on the inside. Also know that, unless something changes, there is a mustiness or mold that permeates the house -- even after airing out for a day. If you have any allergies, this is not the place for you. If you have any issues climbing stairs, know that the only bathroom is located on the second floor. Also, the bedrooms are configured in such a way that one is a walk-through, allowing little privacy if you're using both bedrooms. While the view is a nice peek-a-boo view to the ocean, there's little else that makes this home comfortable, unless, of course, musty, 1960s decor and dark-stained wood / plywood paneling on walls and ceilings are your nirvana.

Owner's Response: We apologize for any disappointments or surprises this guest experienced. The photos on the website are only about six months old and are accurate of the home's current state. We have added a better description of the floor plan to the home's details shared above. Thank you!

Breathtaking Spot

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house in early November for 4 days. Waking up to the silence, the smell of the trees, and the breathtaking view of the ocean was so nourishing. We had planned on several day trips, but ended up staying "at home" for 2 of our 4-day trip. The location is peaceful and inspiring. It's also not a far drive from other beautiful places, like Mendocino and Sea Ranch. I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for quiet and solitude.
