Overview

About the property

Beautiful log cabin home located in the private resort at Black Bear Falls

Whatever your dream getaway—a ski trip with other couples, a kid-oriented vacation with the extended family, a chance to catch up with old friends in a mellow setting—Summit Lodge will make a great home base.

The 5-bedroom log cabin is just a 5-minute drive from the restaurants and amusements of downtown Gatlinburg, and it’s nearly as close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area, and the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop. But you’ll also find plenty to keep everyone happily occupied right on its premises.

For instance, the downstairs game room has a billiard table, so you can challenge friends to a game without having to drive to a bar. If pool’s not your thing, station yourself at one of the three classic arcade games—Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, and Out Run. Show the kids in your group how we amused ourselves before the internet! And if even helping Ms. Pac-Man avoid ghosts is too strenuous for you (understandable after a day spent biking, snowboarding, or shopping the nearby outlets), stretch out on the game room’s plush sofa and watch a movie on the 55” HDTV. with movie theater surround sound.

Or head out onto one of Summit Lodge’s 2 rear decks and revel in the glorious vistas. Spanning the width of the 2,700-square-foot cabin and looking out onto the Great Smoky Mountains, they’re furnished with plenty of comfortable rockers. Sip your morning coffee while chickadees greet the day with a song; reminisce with family and friends in the pink-tinged glow of sunset; come out late at night after the little ones are in bed for a romantic drink in the moonlight.

For the ultimate in pampering, step into the lower deck’s 7 person hot tub. As if the massaging jets of steamy water weren’t relaxing enough, you can listen to the breeze rustle through the trees and maybe even spy eagles soaring through the sky as you soak… bliss!

A double-height wall of windows along Summit Lodge’s living/dining area lets you admire the mountain vistas even while indoors. In winter the gas fireplace makes space an especially welcoming spot, though any time of year is a good one for stretching out on the living room sofa with a book or gathering the gang to watch a favorite show on the 50” HDTV.

The dining table seats 12 people comfortably; smaller groups can sit at the adjacent breakfast bar. And though you might intend to eat most of your meals in one of the many nearby restaurants, once you see the fully equipped kitchen (and the stunning view from the dining area) you might change your mind. Appliances, cookware, tableware - the kitchen has it all. There’s a dishwasher too, because why scrub dishes when you can be shooting pool or hiking in the mountains?

Each of Summit Lodge’s 5 bedrooms has its own bathroom, a TV, plenty of storage, and a view you’ll love waking up to. The most private of the bedrooms makes up the entire loft level and includes a king-size bed. Two additional master bedrooms, each with its own king-size bed, are just off the living room main floor.

Downstairs, on either side of the game room, are the remaining 2 bedrooms. Each of these rooms has 2 queen-size beds, making them perfect if a number of kids are in your group—they’ll feel as if they’re at sleep-away camp! What’s more, the sofas in the game room and the living area convert into beds for 2, accommodating up to 4 more guests.

Because Summit Lodge is located in the 43-acre Black Bear Falls Log Home Community, you can take advantage of the resort’s 2 heated swimming pools, one of which is a kiddie pool, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. But even when the pools are closed, you can enjoy a vacation that’s as action-packed or as laid-back as you like.

About Gary Davis or Lynn Davis

My wife and I have always lived in Glasgow, Ky. and married for 37 years with two sons that are both married with beautiful daughter in laws. We are self-employed owning a logistics company specializing in food grade tanker. We love to ride the ATV trails with our Polaris Razor and camp with our friends when we get time off. We love spending time and relaxing at our cabin when it is available.

Gary Davis or Lynn Davis purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Gary Davis or Lynn Davis chose Black Bear Falls

We have always loved going to the Smoky Mountains when we were younger and when we had the opportunity to buy there was no doubt this is where we wanted to be. The view is breathtaking and we love the area and so close to Gatlinburg. Black Bear Falls is a very well maintained resort and is in a private setting that everyone will fall in love with. This cabin is very special to us and have shared wonderful memories with family and friends.

What makes this cabin unique

The view is spectacular and the deck goes all the way across the front that gives a view to three mountain peaks. The cabin has upstairs for dining and watching your favorite movie and the game room downstairs for playing pool and listening to some music on surround sound. The eight person hot tub is on lower level with great views and lounging.

Would give 100 stars!!!

We can't say enough good things about this rental. It had plenty of room and bathrooms for 4 bridesmaids and a bride to get ready! The view was amazing! The hot tub was wonderful, and when the guys came over for lunch, they could play pool while we were getting ready! Gary, the owner, was very helpful with anything we needed, and worked with our group. Relaxing and spacious, this cabin had it all! Thank you for letting us stay at your home, we appreciated it!

A perfect setting for a gathering of family and friends

  • 5 of 5

The Summit Lodge is exactly as it is pictured. Spacious and well-maintained, it provides the ideal setting for a mountain family reunion. It’s above the busyness of Gatlinburg, in a quiet mountainside setting with a first-class view of the Smokies. Yet, it’s only a few minutes’ drive to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and Sevierville. Our vacation included visits to all these, plus Cades Cove, fly fishing, and a day hike to Rainbow Falls, all a convenient distance from the Summit Lodge.

The house, itself, is nicely kept w comfortable beds and ample furniture for sitting indoors and out. (You’re going to want to spend a lot of time on that porch, and the furniture out there is especially suited for that.) The long dining room table meant we could all sit together for meals, games, and jigsaw puzzling. The kitchen is equipped w everything a family needs for home cooking. We spent evenings in the game room and on the bottom floor deck, blissing out in the hot tub. There are working TVs in every bedroom and common area, although we enjoyed visiting so much we didn’t end up having much time to watch them. There was a game on in the background one evening and another evening our 15-year-old daughter slipped out to spend some solo time vegging in front of a movie in her room. That was the beauty of having so many bedrooms, each w it’s own bathroom. There was privacy available whenever someone needed a break.

Gary and Lynn could not have been more responsive. They seemed always a text away. No call to them went unanswered for more than a few minutes, it seemed.

In sum, this is a lovely place with all the amenities needed to enjoy a week in the mountains. We’d love to return someday and recommend it highly to other families.

Amazing View! Amazing Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

We took our family (14 of us) to Summit Lodge the first week in August. The accommodations were amazing. All of our needs were anticipated and we felt welcome from the moment we walked through the door. The kitchen was big enough for all 14 diners, and the cooks worked together comfortably in the space. The whole family enjoyed the game room in the evenings. And mornings on the deck, looking out on the Smokies was beautiful! We were located close to everything. Some of us did a good deal of hiking. Some did a bit of fishing. Some the mountain coaster, museums, horseback riding, Dollywood, etc. We kept pretty busy. But when we returned to the cabin we could relax and enjoy each other. And the hot tub was a great place to relieve tight muscles after walking all day. Gary and Lynn were so helpful leading up to our visit, during our visit, and even after our visit. Summit Lodge provided a perfect spot for our crazy large family to stay and enjoy mountain life.

Awesome place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved Summit Lodge! Perfect place for our extended family trip. The kids loved being entertained downstairs and the main level was great for the adults to hang out and relax. Great view and it was a very easy trip into Gattlinburg and GSMNP but also tucked away enough to feel secluded.

Beautiful view and lovely accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Summit Lodge. Owners were very helpful and accommodating. We traveled to visit Gatlinburg to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday with his friends. They had a ball and loved having the awesome basement and game room all to themselves while the adiults enjoyed shutting the basement door and the resulting peace and quiet upstairs. The cabin was immaculately appointed and had all we could ask for and more. Highly recommend!
