Summary:
Spacious yet cosy, thoughtfully refurbished and fully equipped, Taf Fechan cottage is the perfect base for a family or group getaway this year. Situated in the village of Pontsticill, we offer a perfect base to enjoy the best routes and scenery the Brecon Beacons has to offer – less than 20 minutes from the base of Pen y Fan or the famous Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls, as well as a choice of outdoor activities and equipment hire available within the village.

The Space:
One king and two double bedrooms (one en-suite) comfortably sleep up to 6 guests, with a lounge with smart TV and speedy wi-fi, and great size kitchen for communal dining and entertaining downstairs.
A newly constructed tiered garden adjacent to the house offers a great outside space, with fantastic views of the Taf Fechan valley from inside and out.
Please note - we are in the process of completing the works on the outdoor spaces, to complete May 2024.
Despite our beautiful rural location, the nearest corner store and takeaway are only 5 mins away, and the nearest supermarket and petrol station are less than 15 minutes away should you need them. If you need anything else locally, we're happy to recommend!
Book now to avoid disappointment, we are very popular! - we hope to welcome you soon!
Guest Access:
Street parking for up to 3 cars is signposted and available directly outside the property. We do politely request parking for neighbouring properties is left available with 24hr access, due to shift work and potential emergency callouts.
The Neighborhood:
A village of industrial heritage, Pontsticill is closely associated with the Brecon Mountain Railway, a steam locomotive tourist railway which operates as an attraction to visitors along the former Brecon and Merthyr Railway line, and Taf Fechan reservoir, constructed to serve the growing industry and population of the South Wales valleys in the 1920s.
Pontsticill also boasts two bustling, dog friendly pubs, situated minutes from the cottage, popular year-round with locals and visitors alike.
Getting Around:
We highly recommend arrival by car due to our rural location, however a local bus runs several times a day between Pontsticill and Merthyr Tydfil, from where you can access trains to major UK cities.
We welcome cyclists with their own bikes and equipment, although local hire is available if preferred.
Interaction with Guests:
We live only moments away; we are happy to be as on-hand or remote as you need us to be during your stay.
