Why Maria & Arthur chose Les Moitiers-d'Allonne
The house is the last one on a path, which leads you straight into the DUNES and to the SEA. The house is located in the outskirts of a small village called Hatainville, approximately 2 km from Carteret. The other residences on the path are located away from the house, which makes the location unique: It`s surrounded by a meadow, a couple of beautiful horses and lots of wild rabbits. A small path leads you directly into the dunes, and after a few hundred meters you find yourself at an extraordinary viewpoint (80 m above sea level), overlooking the sea and the wild dunes that stretches as far as 16 km. from South to North. It’s a protected natural area and therefor completely wild, without any man made constructions. The previous owners of the house, including a Dutch and a Belgic, were all searching for a place, where they could be in close contact with the wild nature. THE AREA The beach close by offers many activities, for instance; surfing, kite surfing and you can rent sand yachts directly on the beach. But you can also choose to relax on the large beach, where it’s easy to find a spot far from other people. Walks in the dunes are always a magical experience, and with its numerous trails you will easily discover the beauty of this area. If you want to explore the area a bit further, you can always use the bikes. At 2 km: Carteret, it is charming with its market, where you can buy fresh and delicious local products such as; cheese, fruit de mer, fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, cider etc.. There are several restaurants in Carteret, some with Michelin stars, bars on the beach, cinema, shops and a large supermarket where you can find practically everything. THE REGION There are many things to discover in the region. Visit the D-Day beaches where the invasion took place during the 2nd World War, or you can take the boat from Carteret to the British Islands; Guernsey or Jersey. Also: Mont St. Michel, the stunning cliffs at Cap de la hague,
What makes this House unique
After more than one year of searching for a country house, we arrived to find this charming gem. Every time we are here we always discover something new. Whether it’s in the nature or in the region, the place always brings us happiness and new memories. From the large South facing terrace, you can enjoy your lunch made from local products sold in the different markets close by. After lunch you can unwind in the wooden armchairs or sunbeds in the quiet garden, while listening to the soundtrack of the nature. The house is also charming during the colder seasons. After a long walk where you are exposed to the strong forces of the nature, you can snuggle up beside the fireplace that efficiently heats up the entire house. The wooden house was originally imported from Norway, and is decorated in harmony with the architecture, inspired by Scandinavia and the sea (one of the previous owners were a famous sailor). The ground floor of the house is where you will find the living room, the dining room, a large kitchen, bedroom and the toilet. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and a separate bathtub. All three bedrooms have double beds, and a sofa bed on the first floor can accommodate two persons. The sofa in the living room accommodates one person, and an inflatable bed is suitable for one person. Guest Access The house has all the modern utilities for making your stay as comfortable as possible. Amongst other things, you will find; Washing machine and a dryer, dish washer, microwave oven, induction cooktop, Wifi… Outside, there is a large American BBQ, bikes and all you need for the garden and the beach. The towels and bed linen are included in the price. Interaction with Guests Upon arrival, we will provide you with a guide to the house, the area and all the places we find interesting in the region.

A lovely property in a fantastic location
We were a family group of two adults and two toddlers and spent a very pleasant week here in June. The property is lovely and extremely comfortable. There was everything we needed plus so much more. The garden is wonderful - large with mature shrubs and some wonderful fig trees, which our boys loved chasing each other around. Beautiful roses too. And so many birds. From the upstairs bedroom the view is over the garden and then of the dunes. It is spectacular.
The location too was perfect. Peaceful, on the edge of a small village, with access to the dunes just outside the door. We never made it on foot to the beach (slightly too far for very short legs) but it was less than 5 mins in the car and it was fabulous. Then another short car ride to Barneville-Carteret with many shops, restaurants, another lovely beach and a great Saturday market. We stocked up on wine and had delicious Moules Frites at one of the restaurants recommended by Maria & Arthur.
We couldn't have asked for more. The only problem was that a week wasn't long enough so we certainly hope to come back!
Thank you to Jeanne, Maria & Arthur for sharing their fantastic home. And to Mme. Joly for looking after us so kindly while we were there and putting up with our terrible attempts at speaking French.
Super séjour ,
La maison est charmante et idéalement située pour découvrir le cotentin. Très belle découverte.
Beautiful House, tremendous location, everything as described or better. We staid here with 4 kids and were very comfortbale. Finally a house with beds you can actually sleep in comfortably. Very clean. Perfect stay. Thanks to Arthur and Maria for their forthcoming communication we were able to check in late and everything was prepared for us!
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this nice house!
We liked the quiet sorrounding, right next to the dunes!
The beach side allows many activities she known for surfing, kite, and it is possible to rent a sail tanks delivered on site.
But you can also choose to just laze on the beach or you will not be bored.
The walks in the dunes are still magical many marked paths make it possible to identify and discover beautiful places. But you can go further by exploring the surroundings by bike.
The other advantage is that the house is located 2km from Carteret charming seaside resort turn of the century where you will find a charming market with delicious local produce and seafood, numerous restaurants, some of which starred, beach bars, a cinema, and many shops (including a large Carrefour)
The region is very rich in activity:
Visit the landing beaches, boats leave directly from Carteret to the Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey).
Le Mont St Michel, the beautiful cliffs of the nose of Jobourg, Cherbourg or museums you can visit a real submarine and Bayeux and its tapestry ...
From Paris by car will take you to the A13 and then Valognes Carteret.
By train to Valognes then by bus, or to Cherbourg and Carentan or rent a car.
We recommend having a car to visit the area and move.
