I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope this helps others travelers avoid the experience we had.
We booked our stay at Waou New Numantia IV the last week of October and left early because the property was unsafe and many things were not working in the unit that also were a safety concern.
Upon arrival, the building’s main entrance door didn’t latch, meaning anyone from the street could walk in at any time. We reported this immediately and continued to find the door open throughout our stay. Inside the unit, curtain/blinds rollers were broken, the WiFi was unreliable, and the bed was so poor we both had back pain and ended up taking turns sleeping on the couch.
The host’s response was dismissive. They offered maintenance but only if we allowed strangers into the unit while we were gone — during a window of 11 AM to 7 PM — which would’ve forced us to cancel prepaid plans. When we asked for a later visit so we could be present, they never replied.
VRBO/Expedia provided no support whatsoever, despite advertising guest protection. We spent hours messaging and waiting for answers instead of enjoying our trip. The host later claimed “everything was checked and working,” which was simply not accurate.
We left early because the situation felt unsafe and unresolved. This stay caused unnecessary stress and time wasted dealing with issues that should have been handled before check-in.
If you value safety, reliability, or responsive service, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
