This beautiful cottage is set on a working farm that dates back to the middle of the 17th century. Sitting on the edge of the Peak District, with scenic lush fields, rolling hills and beautiful places to explore from your door. A path running through the farm will take you directly out for walks through stunning scenery, and there’s local cycle hire if you want to try the Manifold Cycle Track and other cycling routes. There is a great restaurant and pub, just a little over two miles away, sitting on the banks of the River Hamps. Leek (4M), a pretty market town has a great variety of shops and places to eat. Buxton (14m), with stunning architecture, microbreweries, Go Ape and Poole’s Cavern has lots to explore. History can be found 15 miles away, at Little Moreton Hall, a 15th century mansion, complete with moat. For thrill seekers, Alton Towers is just 9 miles away and Peak Wildlife Park is just 10 minutes down the road.
Pull up outside this beautiful stone cottage and take a moment to admire the gorgeous views. Once inside, you’ll feel the tranquillity of the décor, with pale walls, wooden or stone-flag floors with the added luxury of underfloor heating, exposed stonework and rugged timber beams. The long, slim kitchen has been carefully designed to make cooking holiday meals easy and enjoyable and includes a ceramic sink and retro-style fridge/freezer, as well as a microwave and dishwasher. One step down lead into the open-plan dining area, with its antique table and chairs, and the lounge, where squashy leather sofas surround a TV and wood burner – this is an irresistible space in which to curl up with a good book or watch a movie together. Completing this floor is a handy downstairs WC. Take the stairs to the first floor and the two charming bedrooms and bathroom, tucked into the eaves and with some areas of low, sloping ceiling.
To the rear of the cottage you’ll find the patio, with a hot tub for four and an area with dining furniture and a BBQ. From here you can sip a coffee or a sundowner as you relish the gorgeous rural views. This area leads to a sloping lawn which is surrounded by trees. You are also welcome to wander through the owner’s woodland grounds, in which you’ll come across a fenced river and ponds. The property has the benefit of parking for two cars.
