About this property

Charming Lake House on beautiful Lake Independence

Cozy cottage style Lake House perfect for a relaxing weekend. Newly remodeled in 2016, this getaway offers an open kitchen with brand new appliances, a large jacuzzi style bathtub/shower with heated bathroom floor, large master bedroom with spectacular lake views, a hot tub, boat house deck, a "pub" style bar, 85" television, Pacman/Donkey Kong arcade machine and more. The Lake House is adjacent to a lovely city park with swing sets and picnic tables. There is also a boat landing next to the park for those who want to bring their water toys.

Great swimming with a Lillypad water mat, paddleboards and kayak. There is also a nice dock, but please note that it is shared with two other neighbors and is technically on park property, yet accessible from the park staircase adjacent to my yard. Although I rarely see the neighbors when I'm there, once and awhile they might use it to access their boat or the lake. This is one of those neighborhoods where people are friendly, hang out together, enjoy the lake and kids play ball in the streets. It's a lot of fun that way.

Another note about this house. It is not a dedicated VRBO property. That means it will have some of my things - such as clothes in the closet. There will be plenty of space for your own things and it will be as cleaned up and inviting as you should expect. But some people prefer to have their rentals empty, so I just want you to be aware that it will have a lived in feel. I'm doing this as a fun way to share my house. It will include dishes, utensils, plenty of cooking tools, bath towels, beach towels, laundry detergent and probably an extra bottle of beer or two.

My Lake House has been designed for easy living and getting away from it all. It's not a new property - in fact it used to be a bait shop decades ago, so it still has that old house/cabin charm and its own wonderful imperfections. But a great effort has been made to create a cozy, enjoyable getaway where family and friends will enjoy life at the lake, all year 'round.

Only 25 miles from downtown Minneapolis and only 5 minutes from charming downtown Loretto where you will find some great eats and treats.

Born and raised in the area, I currently live full time in Los Angeles where I write and produce movies. My parents live in the same neighborhood as this house, my brothers and sisters all live in the area, as well as friends I've know since kindergarten, so I get back and stay as much as I can. This terrific little house rejuvenates my soul and I'm sure it will rejuvenate yours as well.

Why they chose this property

With my parents living just up the street, I had eyed this house through the years as I spent many a fun times at the adjacent park with my son and his cousins, watching them all grow up through the years. When it was available, I quickly snatched it up, then spent a good part of two years renovating it to become the vision of a true lake house that I always knew it could be. I've rented it off and on to friends and family and have decided to make it open to the public. It may sound silly, but there have been so many good times spent here that, quite honestly, I want to keep sharing it with others.

What makes this property unique

The biggest selling point for this house are the views - even in winter. The large bay window in the master bedroom is second only to the same size window downstairs where most of your time will be spent. One unique aspect of this house is that the kitchen is downstairs - which is exactly where you want it to be while entertaining in the backyard. The boat house deck is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the lake views. Overall, this property just has that great feeling that you are in a home, not just a house.
