"Cova do Coração" (Cave of the Heart) is a deliciously romantic 4-bedroom whitewashed farmhouse which nestles among the serene hills of Portugal’s Eastern Algarve close to the charming seaside towns of Tavira and Olhao. Framed by tropical gardens with fruits and grasses, laze away your time either in the hammock on the terrace or by the good size private pool with pretty sun loungers overlooking the stunning landscape. in the evening, you can cook up a storm with our outdoor kitchen or handy BBQ (charcoal) and dine under the stars. Although wonderfully secluded you are close to beaches and restaurants! There is a Jacuzzi for winter stays at an additional cost….

Inside, discover high beamed ceilings, spacious rooms and a curated collection of fine furniture. Each of the 4 double bedrooms – all zip and link with feather toppers (all en-suite) have original handmade tiled floors (made by a local artisan) and colourful local throws. Egyptian cotton bedding and spoiling toiletries are there for your comfort. The 4 pretty en-suite bathrooms have been designed in harmony with their surroundings. Whilst staying with us you can enjoy a yoga class on the shala or, for a treat, hire our local chef.

With its unspoiled golden beaches, charming fishing villages, and rolling hillsides dotted with almond and olive trees, you can immerse yourself in authentic local life, savouring fresh seafood in traditional tavernas, exploring historic towns like Tavira (on the doorstop) or discovering hidden coves. Take a trip into Loulé for the Saturday market (best to get there early) and you can take your pick of the freshest fish and seafood plus fabulous salad ingredients, cheeses, charcuterie, local honey, artisan gins and excellent Portuguese wine – try the slightly fizzy Vinho Verde which is refreshing in the heat and quite light. Our local town of St Catarina is only 7 minutes away with its choice of restaurants. Watch the artisans at work still making traditional tiles by hand.
