Between the smaller towns of Evercreech and Doulting, in the Mendip foothills, you'll find the town of Shepton Mallet. It's a stunning area filled with interesting sights and fun things to do for people of all ages. One of the largest agricultural exhibitions in Britain takes place at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet in May/June, and the venue hosts a wide variety of other events throughout the year. Wells, Glastonbury, and Bath are all within a half-hour drive, and there are several family-friendly activities, such as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, and the East Somerset Railway, within the same distance. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better holiday location, especially since the delicious local cider is the perfect beverage to unwind with after a day of touring this area of Somerset.
