"Villa Caterina" is a unique gem tucked away on North Lake Lanier. This location at the mouth of the Chestatee River is the quietest portion of the lake. The heavily landscaped property is totally private with 280' of lake frontage. There is a 30' x 30' double-tier dock that has sport ports for both a boat and jet skis you can rent at a local marina if desired and enjoy beautiful sunsets from the top deck.
The house was designed as a one-of-a-kind statement in the European villa style by the very talented, Moscow educated architect, Dasha Treinis. The three-story villa is 5,291 square feet, has a total of 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms (can sleep up to 10)
"The Sorrento", (master bedroom), is a King bed suite with an adjoining screened-in porch and wood burning fireplace on the main level. The master bath is equipped with double vanities, an air-jetted tub, a steam shower, heated bidet seat, heated stone tile floors and a towel warmer. The study/office with a connecting bathroom also on the main level can be converted to another bedroom utilizing the Frontgate queen-size, auto-inflatable Spider bed to sleep another 2 adults, if necessary. The two-story, wood-beamed great room open to the fully equipped kitchen with a Thermador cooktop and Mascarello granite counters, is the main living area and houses the engineered, wood burning fireplace as well as the 55" TV/DVD/Cable/Roku equipment and a sectional sofa. Summertime living extends out to the large cedar deck with comfortable seating for 13. The adjacent octagonal dining room seats 8 comfortably (10 in a pinch) with its five picture windows, makes you feel like you're sitting among the trees. A computer desk area, a laundry room with front loader washer/dryer, utility and pantry closets complete the main level.
The upper-level loft makes for a great kid's play area with an old-fashioned TV/VCR combo and a very comfortable sofa that can also sleep another person. "The Amalfi" (BR #2) and "The Capri" (BR #3) on the upper level are full suites. "The Amalfi" with its own small balcony overlooking the lake has a king bed and en-suite bathroom with glass enclosed shower. "The Capri" has a queen bed and en-suite bathroom with a tub.
"The Cortona", (BR #4) on the lanai level has a king-sized canopy bed, access to an outdoor seating area with table and chairs and has a three-sided gas fireplace leading into the game room. There is a bathtub in the full bath serving the bedroom. The game room has a pool table which is convertible to ping-pong, a wet bar with icemaker and mini-fridge and an optional room which can house sleeping bags for small children, if need be. The fitness/yoga room is equipped with an elliptical machine, weights, mirrors, and yoga mats. All the lanai level areas are open to access the backyard and the covered, screened-in, 6 person in-ground spa. (Only adults should operate the spa).
Scrupulous attention to details is everywhere in the house. All material used is high-end. The doors are 8' solid alder. All cabinetry is solid cherry. Light fixtures are Tracey Porter originals. All appliances are KitchenAid. Floors are a combination of hand scraped black walnut and either polished or chiseled travertine stone. All rugs are original, hand-knotted Persian. All bed linens are fine, high thread count, imported cotton, down/feather pillows and comforters. The kitchen is fully equipped with an Espresso machine, a regular coffee maker, blender, mixer, Cuisinart food processor, dishes, bowls, flatware, bakeware and a fully stocked spice cabinet for your cooking and serving needs.
The property is located on a culdesac street in a safe neighborhood and is 20 minutes away from just about everything. The town of Dahlonega, the gateway to the Blueridge mountains with three great wineries, Frogtown, Three Sisters and Kaya is in one direction... a quaint country town with some excellent restaurants, a theatre and a gold museum. In the summertime, you can have a blast taking one of the river tubing adventures. In the other direction, Gainsville is similarly close and is graced with beautiful antebellum architecture also with excellent fine dining as well as casual restaurants and usually live music on weekends at the town square. Gainsville recently opened a botanical garden which is small but quite beautiful and worth the visit. The Premium Outlet Mall is the same distance in another direction and has some of the best stores such as Restoration Hardware, William Sanoma, Pottery Barn, Nike, etc. Grocery stores are conveniently located near the mall and on the way to Gainesville.
