Bugail Hut - UK51876
Hidden among the trees, this is your own private corner of woodland calm, where time slows and the outside world fades away.. All on the Ground Floor:
Kitchen: Electric Hob, Electric Oven, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave
Bedroom: Double (4ft 6in) Bed
Shower Room: Walk-In Shower, Toilet. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for wood burner included. Welcome pack. Front garden with terrace, garden furniture, barbecue and firepit. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: Property is accessed via footpath only. Hidden within the quiet heart of Tresilian Wood, the Bugail Hut is a beautifully crafted shepherd’s hut retreat, tucked among wildflowers and ancient trees on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. Surrounded by greenery and dappled woodland light, this is a place to truly switch off and reconnect with nature.
Compact yet thoughtfully designed, the hut offers everything needed for a comfortable and cosy stay. Step up onto the private terrace, perfect for morning coffee or a slow evening drink, before heading inside, where a small but well-equipped kitchenette provides the essentials for relaxed dining. Beyond, the open-plan living space has been carefully arranged to make the most of its setting, with a double bed, dining area and a wood burner creating a warm and inviting atmosphere whatever the season. A Belfast sink adds a charming, practical touch, while a separate shower room completes the space.
Set within seven and a half acres of arboretum and wild gardens, the Bugail Hut sits in a wonderfully peaceful corner of the Vale of Glamorgan, right beside the historic St Donat’s Castle. Despite its secluded feel, Cardiff is just 25 minutes away, offering the perfect balance of countryside and city. The surrounding Glamorgan Heritage Coast is a haven for walkers and nature lovers alike, with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and sweeping sea views waiting to be explored.
This stretch of coastline remains one of Wales’ quieter treasures, rich in wildlife and steeped in history and folklore. Nearby villages and market towns offer a warm welcome, with traditional pubs, independent shops and locally sourced produce, while the ever-changing coastal landscape provides something new to discover each day.
The Bugail Hut forms part of a thoughtfully created retreat by owners Tom and Paula, whose passion for craftsmanship, simplicity and the Welsh landscape is reflected throughout. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating a space that feels both personal and connected to its surroundings.
There is a true sense of cwtch here, that uniquely Welsh feeling of comfort and shelter, making it easy to slow down and settle in. Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape or simply a few days to recharge, the Bugail Hut offers a peaceful and memorable stay in one of Wales’ most captivating and quietly lesser-known corners.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 guests.
