THE VRBO BEAR STAYED HERE AND LOVED IT

The Tree House sleeps up to 13 total, 2 in the Master Bedroom with a king-size bed, 4 in two queens which are located in two separate bedrooms, 3 in one bunk bed (twin over full) located in the bedroom/game room, 2 in one bunk bed (twin over twin), located in an alcove, and 2 in a sleeper sofa. The house has large casement windows and wrap-around decks for enjoying the breathtaking views. A jetted tub is available to lounge in. There is a private, covered, outdoor hot tub to relax in after a fun-filled day in the mountains. The most outstanding amenity is the awesome mountain views (refer to photo # 11 as an example which displays the structure known as 'La Ventana Espanol' - The Spanish Window, which appears to be only a small slit in the distant mountain, but is in fact a vertical drop of over a thousand feet.)

Pagosa Springs is a mountain community in Southwest Colorado, offering 320 days of sunshine a year, beautiful scenery including mountains, lakes and waterfalls, lots of outdoor recreation, winter sports and much more.

There is much to do to keep busy. The TREE HOUSE is located just a short walk away from a pristine lake stocked with trout and bass. When you are finished soaking in the on-site hot tub, you can try the famous hot springs in Pagosa. An abundance of outdoor activities makes Pagosa Springs a nature lover's paradise. Lake species include rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, perch, and others.

River fishing is available in town on the San Juan River. The quality waters of the San Juan below Navajo Lake is world renowned for the incredible trout fly fishing. Trophy hunting is available in the San Juans. Wolf Creek Ski area boasts the most snow in Colorado, with an average of over 600 inches per year!

Come play in the mountains and stay in the middle of it all in Pagosa Springs. The Wolf Creek Ski Area is about 20 miles away and the main roads are always kept clean. This ski area gets more snow than any other ski area in Colorado, on average. You will not want to leave!

Features include satellite and three HDTVs. The following are also provided: DVD player, CD player, ping pong table, full kitchen, microwave, dishwasher and large refrigerator. All cooking utensils and dishes are provided in a gourmet kitchen. This is a chef's dream for a vacation home. Bedding and linens are provided. An oversize washer and dryer are also available for your convenience.

With its large bedroom/game room, which sleeps 3, it offers the perfect 'get away' spot for kids of all ages. The house, with 3200 SF approximately, is suitable for a family reunion, and with 3 acres there is plenty of room to stretch. It is also ideal for a romantic getaway, with its gourmet kitchen, dining table near the fireplace where a nice meal can be followed by a visit to the on-site hot tub and capped off with a leisurely viewing of the mountain and alpenglow at sunset on the large wrap-around deck.

About Natalie and Patrick Maxwell

We are a retired couple who live in Austin, Texas. Every summer we enjoy spending a month in Colorado to relax, visit with family and escape the hot Texas summers. Pagosa Springs has a small town atmosphere with endless beauty that provides us total relaxation. We are pleased to share our home with you and know you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Natalie and Patrick Maxwell purchased this house in 2006

Why Natalie and Patrick Maxwell chose Pagosa Springs

Pagosa Springs is near a wonderful ski area in Wolf Creek Pass. Also, the scenery is beautiful in here (which you will see as your are coming from the Wolf Creek Ski area, back into town (see Photo # 16). The house is large enough to accommodate large groups and there is always a spot where you can escape from the crowd. The hot tub is great after a cold evening to chat and enjoy a nice glass of wine. We are very pleased with our selection and know you will enjoy your stay here!

What makes this house unique

Nearby Wild Animal Park (1/4 mile away), with Bear, Mountain Lion, Elk, Wolf, Badger, Coyote, etc. Skiing, Hiking, on-site, private hot tub, gourmet kitchen, sitting on the deck watching the sunset after a stunning alpenglow, fishing, old-time movie theater, famous Pagosa Hot Springs, etc...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Highly recommend this home. The Treehouse has everything one could want in a vacation get-away and the co-managers are in close contact by phone if you have any issues. Treehouse is secluded, but only a few miles to Pagosa Springs. Location is great for winter and summer sports or just relaxing at the house which offers a great hot tub and decks surrounding the house. The upstairs level consists of a fully furnished dream kitchen, dining room with fireplace, living room and master bedroom and bath. Downstairs area has an outside entrance/mud room with two bedrooms and connecting bath plus 2 bunks and living room/game room, library and piano; and, a step down into yet another game room with table tennis plus living area and full size bed plus upper twin bunk bed and bath. Only half of our group was able to make the trip, but we could easily have housed 12. The furnishings are in top condition and the blending throughout the house of natural logs, metal art and colorful fabrics and the outdoors made this house cozy and warm and relaxing. Definitely need 4X drive if there is much snow as road to house is not paved and driveway is pretty steep uphill. There are several local markets in Pagosa plus a Wal Mart on the west end of town (about 8 miles from the house). Recommend: Ski Wolf Creek, and take your sleds as there is a pull off on the way up to the slope that has excellent sledding right by the side of the road. Recommend Third Generation Outfitters for snowmobiling. Recommend Pagosa Dog Sled Adventures. The drive to their location is approximately 25 miles from the Treehouse back into the mountains and the scenery is beautiful with hiking and biking trails. The dog sledding tour is a must do! The dogs and their handlers are amazing. There is an outdoor ice rink in town and there are hot mineral springs in town for bathing in pools at different temperatures. We also enjoyed a night out at Riff Raff Brewing downtown. My only suggestion for the owners is perhaps putting up a sign that says "The Treehouse" at the driveway since the house is set back into the trees and not fully visible from the road. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We look forward to staying at Treehouse in the future.

Beautiful Pagosa Springs CO Vacation!

VRBO Bear stayed here

Aug 16, 2011

I had a wonderful time in this vacation home in Pagosa Springs with friends and family. The house, aptly called the "tree-house," was on two levels and each morning I awoke to breathtaking views of the trees and mountains and could listen to the myriad of birds just outside the windows. The hummingbirds were spectacular to watch as they were coaxed to the porch by two well-positioned feeders. It was a real treat for me to witness a double rainbow during my stay and enjoyed the refreshing mountain air I grew up on. Here I could completely relax. I especially liked being able to explore in the garden with the cubs and also visit the fishing lake which was only a 2 minute drive from the house. What a comfortable stay I had with my family in this spacious home. The young ones could watch TV in the playroom while the adults ate dinner around the dining table. Breakfasts were fun for the kids as they sat at the bar counter and were served from a spacious and well stocked kitchen. There were more than enough beds for everyone and even a pack and play for the littlest sibling. The hot tub was an added bonus and was enjoyed by all ages. One day we took the steam train from Durango to Silverton up the mountain pass and were thrilled to see the river and awesome scenery. The whole family had fun going down the river on tubes near the hot springs only 10 minutes from the house and finished off that day with an ice cream from a restaurant that came recommended by the owner. There were other useful tips about where to go and what to see that helped us make the most of our time in Pagosa Springs. The owner and his property management company were professional and friendly and made the stay extremely easy, enjoyable and memorable. I’m already longing for the mountains again and the view from the wraparound porch... The VRBO Bear

We had a wonderful stay at the treehouse.

  • 5 of 5

The House was clean and comfortable. Plenty of space for our large family. The children had their own game room to get loud and play while the adults enjoyed their own space. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. The fridge was nice and spacious; however the freezer was not working. We never got any ice and our ice cream melted, but that did not spoil any of our fun. The Wildlife Refuge was very close and worth the visit during feeding time. The town of Pagosa Springs is charming. We enjoyed walking through the town and playing at the park playground. Our family had a wonderful vacation.

Wonderful secluded home with fantastic views!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over Easter weekend. This home fit our family of eight with lots of room to spare! The upstairs master is great because the kids can be downstairs playing games and we never hear a peep upstairs! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The views from the wrap around deck are amazing. The quiet neighborhood was wonderful to take a walk in. The lot is large, secluded and fenced which mad for an even more private getaway. Echo lake is literally one road away and is so tranquil! Unfortunately we didn't visit the lake until we were on our way home. Paul was wonderful to deal with - he contacted us before we got there and checked in again once we arrived to make sure we made it and had everything we needed. We plan to visit this home again this summer for another getaway.

Incredible House with great views.

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed here over our spring break. We didn’t get to check in on time due to some issues caused by the past group. However, the maid and owners worked very diligently with us and got us in the house just a bit after 4. The house itself is beautiful. Plenty of sleeping space, as well as space for everyone to spread out. The hot tub was perfect, as well as the back patio. The beds were also extremely comfortable. The only warning I would give is to be cautious about your timing on showers. The hot water won’t last long if the other utilities are running, but the owner warned us about this and we were able to avoid cold showers most of the trip. I will 100% be coming back to this home.

Home from home, just better

  • 5 of 5

Abundance of space, well equipped kitchen and a very popular hot tub to relax in after a hard days skiing.

The deck and breathtaking views on a crisp morning were fabulous. If you are a city dweller, in the evenings, turn off the lights go out onto the deck and be amazed by the night sky!

Handy location, good value for money and co-managers were on hand and responsive.

No complaints and no concern recommending to anyone, will certainly book again if in the region.
