The view was outstanding and the Pool area was great. The Kitchen was large and a good gathering place. Driveway and entrance road were steep and when wet a 4-wheel drive is needed. Also, the house could use a generator for Blackouts.

This is a quintessential St John home with lovely stonework, beautiful exterior, with several covered porches and screen doors for the cross breeze and a great pool area. The house has wonderful ocean views and beautiful landscaping all around. It would be perfect for a family vacation or for three couples - there are three bedrooms, the primary with an en-suite and two additional queen rooms with separate bathrooms. The pool area has very accommodating and comfortable seating both in the sun and shade. This is a gated home which keeps out the goats, with a parking area large enough that you accommodate several vehicles. The location of this house provided quick access to Coral Bay restaurants, South shore, East end and the North shore beaches.

The Secret Seashell is perfection!

We had another excellent stay at the Secret Seashell and hope to come back again soon. The grounds and the house are beautiful. Everything you need and more is there for you. We love the location as it is so close to Skinny Legs and Coral Bay but very secluded and quiet except for the waves lapping the shore. The views are amazing, It really is perfect!

Excellent stay

The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Communication was excellent from check in to check out. We had a very small issue come up and the communication and fix was incredibly fast. Jared and team were great to work with. Our family of 5 including 3 kids under the age of 10 stayed and the swimming pool was a huge perk. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at secret seashell! The location was very private and you could hear the waves from the house. Jared and Keri were very responsive. Loved that only the bedrooms were air conditioned and the outside living room made our stay! Would definitely recommend!

Ultimate relaxation!

The villa was beautiful. The view is beyond stunning. Jared the owner was very accommodating and always available. The location is remote but we were looking for that. If you want to have dinners in some of the better restaurants on the island, however, it is a 30-35 minute drive on winding steep roads. Highly recommend renting a 4 wheel drive Jeep because part of the road to the villa is not paved and steep. Overall an exceptional experience. Highly recommend!

Jared was very responsive for 2 small issues. I will say - during hot days the main living area not have AC is an issue. It got very hot there. But besides that it was almost a perfect property

Thanks for the great review and for being such wonderful guests. It is true that the hottest months of the year can have some particularly hot days...September and October are notorious for this in the Caribbean. Guests should know that AC limited to bedrooms is a common set up at homes on St John and not typically necessary at this property for a majority of the year.

Sweet secret seashell

Lovely property perched on a hill, facing the ocean and sunrise. Woke up to sunny days mostly, but even a rainy one was beautiful from bed or front veranda. Spacious accommodations, infinity pool overlooking several bays. Well equipped kitchen. Clean and laid up to be perfect for two couples or a family. Jared and colleagues were very responsive. Resident iguana was fun to watch in garden areas.

Stunning, Thoughtfully Stocked Home with Amazing Views & Vibes!

Our stay at this beautiful home was perfect! The drive up is a bit of a trek, but it’s well worth it for the peaceful surroundings and breathtaking views. The home itself is incredibly clean and thoughtfully designed, with unique shell accents woven throughout the structure, adding a special island touch.One of the things we appreciated most was how well-stocked it was—pots, pans, seasonings, trash bags, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, and so many little things that made our stay seamless and stress-free. It truly felt like a home away from home!The outdoor space is just as amazing, with a gorgeous pool to relax in and soak up the views. And the sound system was Next level! Syncing our phones and playing our favorite music throughout the house made the experience even more enjoyable.If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-equipped, and truly special place to stay, this is it! We can’t recommend it enough and would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful House and Perfect View!

The photos actually don't do this property justice. The view from the pool was perfect - framed by gorgeous landscaping. A great size for us, our daughter and my parents for the Christmas holiday! My parents are older, so they took the main floor master bedroom. Our daughter and us took the downstairs bedrooms. Comfy beds, clean clean clean, with really soft sheets. The road to the house, I will warn, is pretty rough, but a Jeep will get you there with no issues. Personally, I like that the road is a bit beaten up - it makes for more seclusion and privacy. A wonderful house!

Beautiful home

Overall the property was very nice. As many others mentioned, the A/C is only in the bedrooms, but this was not an issue for us. Not sure if it was the time of year, but we had between 15-25 mph winds the whole trip, so the living area stayed cool enough for us. Although less than 1 year old, the dishwasher did not work and could not be repaired during our stay. We found that many of the dishes were not clean upon arrival. Likely an issue of the dishwasher, but nonetheless, the cleaning people should have noticed this. The mgt team was very responsive. We considered all of this a minor annoyance and it would not stop us from recommending this home as it was overall nicely laid out and well appointed. The views didn't disappoint either.

We appreciated you bringing dishwasher issue to our attention right away so that we could immediately schedule our appliance company to service the machine. Fortunately, they were able to order the part, and as soon as the part was received, they repaired it. While appliances do have issues from time to time, we empathize with our guests when something happens beyond our control. We make every attempt to remedy it whenever possible, and as quickly as possible. We are sorry that one of the plates was not cleaned properly; we hold ourselves to a high standard, and this was an unfortunate discovery. We hope you were satisfied with our offer to return to re-clean the villa as soon as we were alerted.

Exactly What We Needed!

After not being able to travel and having a business directly impacted by covid over the past year and a half, this was just the relaxing release we needed! Quiet, Secluded, Beautiful views and Perfect in every way for us. It is certainly off the beaten path and if you are needing constant contact with the outside world, this may mot be for you. Spotty wifi, no cell phone connection (att) without wifi and we did lose power for a day, but again, it was EXACTLY what WE were looking for and needed! Only had one small issue with the pool pump not coming back on after the power outage, but Jared sent someone out immediately to resolve the issue. Great trip and hope to stay there again in the future!

Quiet and lovely

We stayed for a week in March 2023. We were looking for a property in the East side of St. John that was going to give us some solitude. The Secret Seashell was perfect for this. For starters, the landscaping was just beautiful and the constant presence of hummingbirds was such a fun thing to have. The pool was super clean. The inside of the property is exactly as is appears in the pictures. The kitchen has everything you need. The beds are clean and comfy. The porch is perfect for watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Having laundry on site was great. The grill was new and clean. It was great having coolers, beach chairs, and towels to use. It was just very easy. I really only have positive things to say about The Secret Seashell.

Beautiful property!

This is a beautiful property located in Coral Bay. This was our first trip to St John. Kyle greeted us and was extremely helpful with restaurants and navigating the island. The property was clean and well maintained. You definitely need a 4x4 to navigate the road to the property and it is a 25 minute drive to Cruz bay. We liked the privacy and the beautiful views. This place worked well with our teen/adult children, however I would not recommend for families with small children. The bedrooms below are accessible by an outdoor entrance only. Also the bedrooms are air conditioned but the main living area is not. We spent a lot of time outside until the bugs or the heat became unbearable. The pool was beautiful and we used it often. Thank you for a wonderful stay in St John!

Beautiful home, prompt service

We had a great stay at the Secret Seashell! As noted in prior reviews, the home is out further than most which gave us our desired privacy. You will need a Jeep or SUV to travel the road. The home was beautiful and well kept. Having beach chairs, coolers, and ice packs in the freezer made beach days easy and simple. As with any home, small issues can arise. A mild earthquake cracked a commode while we were there. A pool pump also broke and drained the pool another day. Jared had servicemen there both days to address and fix issues. The pool was fixed and refilled the same day! What more can you ask? Communication was excellent. Keri was available anytime we needed her. She made recommendations that made our stay unforgettable. No regrets with our stay at this home!

Need better property management

The property was clean, except for some moldy air conditioning grates in a bedroom. We could smell it as soon as we walked in.We slept in 1 of the downstairs bedrooms, which has a really small a.c. unit; it never got below 73 in our room. Our friends upstairs were very comfortable in their room, good a.c.I will say, the photos are a little misleading from the website, it is smaller than it appears in photographs. But a nice house. We were met by an assistant property manager, she showed us around a little, but never showed us what any of the MANY, MANY light switches were for. And then the main property manager asked if we would mind them bringing by some potential buyers for the house! I booked this reservation 8 months in advance, and had no idea the property was for sale(we found a small flyer on the desk). Why would we leave the place we paid for; they should have waited until we were gone and the place cleaned, we saw openings on their calender the following week. A ridiculous request!

Thank you for your review. As you know, we had the air conditioner serviced immediately after you brought the issue to our attention. We are curious as to your comment regarding misleading photos. We provide many photos of each space, from multiple angles, as well as video of the house. The reviews from a majority of our previous guests have said that the photos do not do the home justice. For any future guests, we are happy to provide additional photos, or even a live video chat tour of the home. All of the light switches in the home are labeled. The house is currently on the market for sale. When we receive requests for potential buyers to view the home, we reach out to the guest to ask if they would be willing to allow us to show it during their stay. This is completely optional, and the guest can allow or decline. We do not require the guest to leave the property, or to stay. In this case, you declined to allow us to show it. I have copied the exact text we sent to you so that future guests can know what to expect. We are sorry you found our wording offensive: “Good afternoon, as you may know the house is on the market for sale and we have received a showing request for Saturday at 12:30. Let us If you'd be willing to allow this. You do not need to be there or do anything and they would be accompanied the whole time. It is 100% your option to decline.”
