About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8)

Autumn is spectacular in Bear Valley. Warm, sunny days to hike or relax on the deck and enjoy the views, chilly evenings to make a nice fire.

And it's so quiet up there this time of year.

Beautiful private home 7000 feet up in the High Sierras, 20 feet from the Stanislaus National Forest. Panoramic forest and mountain views to the South and East. Hiking and skiing trails right out the front door. Complete privacy and solitude. So many windows that you feel like you're outside when you're inside.

Most quiet during the spring thaw, when 'The snow is melting into music.' (John Muir). Wildflowers abounding in July and August, during the annual classical music festival. Glorious warm days and blazing aspens in the Autumn.

Winter brings the full California ski experience. Roads in the residential area are not plowed, so no cars are allowed to enter, and everything remains completely white. The snowmobile ride up from the village adds to the adventure! Road's end location is perfect for sledding.

The two bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bath, are on the entry level. The master bedroom has a woodstove and panoramic views. It has a king-size bed and a twin. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed, and also a trundle bed which can be used as one or two twins. The whole second story is one large room, with a woodstove and windows all around. It has a half bath and futons for four.

What Guests Say:

The views from your cabin are outstanding and they just made us want to sit and relax and enjoy the comfortable surroundings. I ski at Bear Valley often, mostly just to be in the Sierras and take in the view, and that feeling was even better in the nice summer weather from the comfort of your dining room table with a glass of wine! John and Carol - Livermore CA

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in your mountain home. The views were spectacular, and the house was very comfortable. We had a couple of days of great weather and one day to enjoy a rainy day by the fire. Neither of us had been to Bear Valley before, and we found lots to see and do. It must be beautiful there in the winter, and when all of the wild flowers are in bloom. We also enjoyed driving around the neighborhood and looking at the many beautiful homes.

Joyce and Dan - Campbell, CA

'My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing weekend at your cabin. Everything went fine and everything worked. Loved the view from the top of the hill behind the cabin. Reading a book and taking our morning coffee on the deck was so serene. You have a great location and a great cabin. We'll tell our friends and family about this Bear Valley jewel.' Chuck - Martinez, CA

'Everything in the cabin worked great for us, with the fire keeping us plenty warm at night. We hope to go up again next year and add a couple more days to the stay..Really enjoyed the deck and views along with all the stars at night...Thanks again and great place!!' John - Livermore, CA

'We would like to thank you for letting us use your beautiful treetop home in Bear Valley. It was more than we expected. The views were fantastic and the furnishings, etc. were just like home! Very comfortable and in good taste.' Gail - San Jose, CA

'Over the past few years, we have stayed in a number of Bear Valley homes... I must say, however, that I enjoyed the time my family spent at your home more so than the rest. What a view!' Chris and Pam - La Mesa, CA

'Thank you so much for the opportunity to rent your cabin for a couple of weeks. We had a great time, and never tired of the incredible view and comfortable accommodations. We look forward to staying at your place again in the future!' Jeri and Tom - Berkeley, CA

'Although this was our first trip to Bear, we'll definitely be coming again this winter. We've stayed in many parts of the Sierra over the years, but were really impressed with Bear Valley, especially as a multi-activity family area. I hope our plans and the availability of your cabin coincide again.' Peter - Los Altos, CA

Awesome family experience!

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue. We have been raving to friends and strangers about our stay at Stefani's cabin. My husband and I, our 3 year old, and our two pups enjoyed every moment there. The cabin has nice homey vibe - it feels familiar, welcoming, cozy, relaxing, and has the most incredible views. It's quiet, there, too. We only ran into a handful of people during our entire stay up there. We felt we had the roads and the snowy hills all to ourselves for playing. The snowmobile ride to and from the house is one of the best parts of the whole experience. I cannot recommend this home highly enough. We hope we can make this an annual trip for our family! Thank you, Stefani, for sharing your home with us!

DIANA H. & FAMILY

  • 5 of 5

Just had to leave a positive review for this mountain cabin vacation home that more than exceeded our expectations for the perfect "active family" get-away. We thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and beauty of this property's location in Bear Valley and found it a very convenient home base for all of the outdoor activities we enjoy, such as hiking, fishing & kayaking. The owner is pleasant and responds to inquiries in a timely fashion. Our family would be honored to stay in this lovely cabin again and again.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We spent another fun filled weekend at this cabin in Bear Valley and always look forward to coming back. The area and scenery are spectacular and the cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. In the winter, the location is great since it is at the end of a cul de sac, so you don't have snowmobiles speeding by all the time. The owner is also very nice, responsive, and accommodating.

Beautiful Views and great hiking trail just a few feet from the front porch!!

  • 4 of 5

Four of us stayed for the weekend to attend one of the concerts at the Bear Valley Music festival. We cooked in the kitchen, visited in the living room while admiring the beautiful views, hiked, went bike riding and drove the short distance to Alpine Lake to enjoy the scenery. Lovely area!!

Fabulous home in the Sierras with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent five days with our Labrador and German Shepherd at this wonderful house at Bear Valley. Even if the weather was not perfect and we had some rain, we had a splendid vacation. Lots of hiking available (all dog-friendly), even just outside your door with a beautiful trail that winds up to an area where you can sit, barbecue, enjoy the breath-taking views and feel close to nature (and realize you have a smile on your face). Then, when the weather changed, in the afternoon, and we had some thunderstorms, we could relax in the very comfortable home which is furnished with everything you can possibly need. The king-size bed is very comfortable. We loved sitting at the kitchen table and watch the view form the big panoramic windows. Finally, last but not least, the owner is very nice, very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. We will definitely go back to this beautiful house, and we highly recommend it.

Map

Cross-country skiing right out the front door, Excellent sledding spots with sleds and saucers available.

Hiking trails starting at the foot of the driveway, Our famous 'thirty-second hike' to unobstructed views of the Dardenelles that leads to an all-day trail continuing over the ridge to the ski area.

Spring wildflowers surround the house. Wildflower hikes in all directions.

Quiet and privacy, inspiring views. An excellent spot for human being as well as doing.
