About Felicity,Josephine and James Rowe
We are semi-retired grandparents. I was born and brought up in the Far East, Malaya, Borneo, Hong Kong and Thailand. My husband was born in Essex, England where we still live now.
Felicity,Josephine and James Rowe purchased this Villa in 2002
Why Felicity,Josephine and James Rowe chose Èze
We bought the property to be closer to an aged parent in the area. We needed a home that was big enough to take the whole family, where we could walk easily to the sea. There are various restaurants in the village and a couple of fabulous beach restaurants open from April to September. Lastly it was important to have good and safe public transport.
What makes this Villa unique
When we first saw the property, painted white with an enormous bougainvillea in full flower in the garden, it was my ideal Mediterranean house. We have spent the last 12 years slowly modernising but trying to keep some of the original features. It is now a comfortable family home.

Rooms with a view
Very comfortable and characterful accommodation with magnificent views of the sunrise over the bay. Everything needed for a lovely holiday provided.
Perfect home away from home on the French Riviera
We recently spent a week at Villa Tit Eze for our mini-moon. It is a beautiful mediterranean house a short walk up the hill from Eze sur Mer, scenically located on the coast between Nice and Monaco.
The villa comes with all mod cons, plus the added bonus of a hot tub and incredible sea views. It retains the character of classic villa (lovely tiles, classy furniture) with essentials like a modern kitchen. It is clean and well maintained.
There is space to park a vehicle if you wish to hire a car, but we used public transport to get about. The villa's a short walk to Eze station with frequent services to Nice, Monaco and on into Itally. Beaulieu sur mer is only a short ride away on the bus, or a scenic walk along the coast, and boasts many shops/cafes and some lovely beaches. We also used Eze beach, which is quite a perfect for a swim if you don't want to travel far. If you fancy a posh dinner there's some great places to eat up the hill in Eze village.
The villa, and Eze, has everything you need for a relaxing week.
Charming villa located in quiet and beautiful Eze
The property was as described, you can really tell the owners and staff put the effort into maintaining the villa in a professional and caring manner.
Location is a huge plus, cosy and quiet cove placed perfectly inbetween Monaco and Nice. This makes it easy to get out and explore those areas. Saint Jean Cap Ferrat is also close and is a must visit. The beach by Eze sur mer is a short walk away and will hopefully become your daily swim and relax spot too.
The highlights of the villa is its rooftop views, hot tub, clean rooms with well functioning air conditioning.
The villa is family friendly, easy to cater for everybodys needs whilst also spoilt for choice when it comes to finding your own quiet time on a terrace or balcony area(or in the hot tub with a book). Too relaxing! No hesitations to recommend to others.
Nice quiet place with lovely views.
Villa Tit Eze has a good location if you are fit and able bodied. There is no mention in the property details that the upstairs bedrooms are accessed via a tight spiral staircase. It was therefore a bit of a shock to be confronted by this on arrival. My husband and I are in our 70s and whilst we just about managed them, getting our suitcases up was quite difficult and it was very tricky if we were carrying anything at the same time as trying to negotiate the stairs. I feel that for the benefit of future guests they should be warned.
The description does mention the outside steps to the property entrance, but one of our party has arthritic problems and she found it very difficult to climb them as there is no handrail or anything to hold on to. The description also says there is a "small shower room" (which also houses a toilet and very small basin) for the upstairs bedrooms. This is actually nothing more than a windowless cupboard under the outside terrace stairs, complete with sloping ceiling! It is extremely small and very "tired" looking - so small in fact that I had to use it with the door open as it was somewhat claustrophobic. It can only be accessed by leaving the bedroom and actually going outside - not to everyone's taste in the dead of night! This was another shock! No mention is made of there being an "outside toilet". The 2 upstairs bedrooms are interconnected and whilst it didn't bother us as we only needed the one double, had there been another 2 adults, the layout was such that they would have had to pass through our bedroom to get to the outside shower/toilet!
Don't get me wrong, we had a lovely time and much enjoyed the rest of the house, the facilities and the lovely views, but I just feel it is important that the above facts should be brought to the attention of future holiday-makers - particularly if they are elderly.
Thank you for your very honest review and giving us a four star rating.
During one of our numerous telephone conversations I did advise you that the staircase outside the property is very dark and very steep but unfortunately as this is owned and managed by the local council we have no control over it.
Our house is very idiosyncratic and we appreciate your comments with regard to the spiral staircase and the indoor/outdoor shower.. We will ensure we make a fuller description on our site for future reference.
Highly recommended - opinion of a perfectionist
Having a reputation for being a perfectionist (I prefer to say I have high standards!) I am told I don't easily please, but hear I am saying it, this villa was superb, well positioned, beautiful and place you could relax in and catch the sun at any time of the day from one of the numerous terraces. The view is incredible and breathtaking. Having previously lived in Eze sur Mer and having holidayed on the Cote D'Azur for over 20 Years, this villa beats anything I have previously stayed in (including the lovely villa I rented for 2 years also in Eze). I have experienced all the tricks of the trade in my attempt to find the perfect rental in the perfect spot - ranging from the use of a wide angled lens to give the appearance of something much larger than it was in reality (and pricey at that! ) to a list of facilities that actually were either not available or didn't exist. This villa is exactly as shown in the photographs and description, it really is an amazing place, somewhere you long to stay longer and hope never to leave.
We had a car, and quite a large one at that and mentioning mis-leading, the car I booked and the cars that were actually available when I came to collect were two different things and the price too! I though I might have a problem parking it but it was fine, we managed to park it no problem outside the villa, there was never a time it was difficult.
Having two teenagers, well one a week in, as it was one of my daughter's birthday whilst there, she turned 18, wifi was a priority. It seems they are only alive (though in a Zombie like fashion) when plugged into the matrix! Happy girls, makes a happy holiday and these were two happy girls. We had the birthday meal at Anjuna- Eze beach, which is a beautiful spot. The restaurant was accommodating in producing a birthday cake and the night was topped off by sitting opposite James Khan from the Apprentice! So if you fancy a bit of celebrity spotting there is every chance it will happen in Eze, as it is a little quieter than some of the surrounding places, which is a welcome relief for some.
I could praise this villa all day long and secretly hope that it doesn't encourage too many to want to book as I would like to keep it a secret, but some things have to be shared. Anyway, endless praise and thanks to Felicity and Nick for a wonderful holiday rental and giving me back my time as I no longer have to search Homeaway or any other site for my next Eze holiday.
The house is situated between Monaco and Nice, half an hours drive either way. It is about a 5 minute walk down to the beach and slightly longer walk back up. There is a regular and excellent bus service from Nice to Monaco (every 15mins) and a good train service from Marseille to Ventemillia in Italy (approx once an hour).
The beautiful medieval Eze Village is about 1 hours walk in the hills behind or an easy drive. The mountains behind are beautiful and driving up to one of the ski resorts is highly recommended.
There are 2 great beach restaurants and a water sports centre that hires small sailing boats, kayaks, wind surfers etc open from April to September.
Monte Carlo, Biot (glass), Grasse (perfume) are all worth a visit and also the market in Ventemillia every Friday if you are looking for bargains.
