NEWLY REMODELED!
We completely remodeled the main floor down to the studs. This included a new kitchen (Jerri's work of art!) with upgraded flatware, cookware and dishes. Reworked the living room and added a second bathroom with a standup shower (Jay's favorite!). Seven new beds (one queen and six full-sized upstairs.) were brought in. All feature Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses (same as used by Marriott) with new bedding, and linens. Nearly all windows have been replaced and upgraded. The 55" smart TV has cable access, Blu-Ray and high-speed internet. The bottom floor has been expanded to include a den and gaming room featuring a ping-pong table and foosball. Gone are the roll-up garage doors and a large sliding glass door with a picture window beside it have been added. A new, large capacity washer and dryer set is also now available. The den furniture features a large couch, chair and loveseat (all overstuffed) - arranged around a heater/electric fireplace and 43" smart TV. Also, the new patio with deck furniture, grille and a new four-person hot tub/spa is now installed and running!

We had the best rainy weekend stay at this lovely home. The kitchen is lovely and well-stocked, the living, dining and bathrooms on the main floor are updated and a great space for family time. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was a little quirky, being an older home, but it was adequate for our needs. It was close the beach and several attractions in the area. Overall, it was nice place to stay.
Our large blended family took a week long vacation to the coast. This home was perfect for our needs. Very well stocked kitchen! Overall, excellent stay.
Fantastic home perfect for a young family of four. Clean, all the amenities and walking distance to the coast. The property manager, Laura, was absolutely fantastic. Jay and Jerri are wonderful hosts!
Great, clear communication from the owners and the manager ahead of check-in. After a lot of stress and busyness for us recently, this was a perfect spot to relax. Yay, hot tub! The renovated kitchen is beautiful! Very pleased with our stay.
This place was equipped with everything a person could possibly need and more. It was clean, fresh, and ready for guests. We had a very enjoyable time in Winchester Bay!
Great house for our yearly , family crabbing adenture. Laura was awesome and got us in quickly and efficiently. The house was clean and had everything we could need for the weekend.
It was exactly how it was described in the post, I loved it. I love the older homes with character! Perfect location and exactly what we needed for the trip! Property manager and owner are amazingly nice people... would definitely rent again.

Thank you so much you and your family were a pleasure, let us know if we can ever be of service again.
House had lotsa room with 3 stories. Stairs were a bit steep for older people. Hot tub was good for kids. Not sure if the temp was accurate, seemed alot colder than the temp. Place was really clean and well stocked.
Many rooms, many beds (2 doubles in each of the 3 upstairs room), great space for kids in the games room/garage. Nice outdoor space, small but lovely hot tub. A few quaint restaurants within walking distance but not much else within walking distance. A short drive to the dunes/beach - super beautiful!!
Kitchen is well stocked with equipment and had lots of leftover sauces in the fridge and spices.
We live in CA with a few of our grandkids and my son lives in OR with the rest, we believe the cousins should all know each other. We also did a memorial of life for my daughter in laws grandmother to wish her Aloha. The house is nice, but we are a tall group and the ceilings in the upstairs rooms were very low causing a few banged heads. The home is cozy and has all of the amenities. We had a great trip!
We planned a fishing / crabbing trip out of Winchester Bay. This property was perfect for me and my four friends. The master bedroom is on the main floor with three other bedrooms on the top floor. The bedrooms on the top floor have limited headroom due to the roof line. If you are not extra tall you will be fine. The kitchen was the most well equipped vacation rental home that I have found. This property worked great for our fishing trip!
The house is nicely updated and clean. The property manager met us and made the check in very easy. She was very helpful with a little tour, so we knew where everything we might need was.
We had great success crabbing in the bay. We cooked the crab outside , right there. Easy clean up with water and hose .
We went on the Betty Kay charter, out of Coos Bay. Caught Lin cod, Canary Rock Fish, Yellow tail, and more! Captain and mates were so nice. Highly recommended
We hope to come back next year!
The weekend started with a great check in process at the house. Laura walked us through the house and showed off all the amenities. We even got a welcome watermelon for our stay.
The house has recently been remodeled and the interior is very tastefully decorated. It is very roomy with the four bedrooms. The beds were very comfortable. We all wished that we had more time to spend at the house, After a day of pulling crab pots, it was great to come back and soak in the hot tub.
We all have great memories. This is a house we will want to return to.
For being an older house it was pretty clean. Our only complaint is the bedding and bathroom towels needing some love! Sheets and blankets felt old and mattresses were REALLY old.(springy & everyone rolls into the middle.) As for the towels in the bathroom they need to be replaced due to being old and starting to fringe! With these improvements it would be a wonderful rental!

Thanks, Amber! In June, my wife and I purchased the house and have plans for a major remodel, which will address the items you suggested, plus other structural and design improvements. Replacements for the six upstairs beds are on order, with new mattresses and bedding on the way as well. Replacement of the towels and other foundation items are also coming. Stay tuned!
My family had a wonderful stay here. The house has been updated and is very clean and inviting. A few holdover doorways from the original design of the house, and sloped roofline in the upper rooms mean tall adults/older teens may need to watch their heads, but the upper rooms were charming rooms for children especially! Kitchen is very well stocked and easily navigated. Hot tub and back deck are perfect for a bit of chill time. Basement/garage has been made into a tv/Rec room with games and space for the ping ping table and foosball.
Easy and good communication with the property manager. She quickly responded to and was very helpful when we accidentally got the hot tub in a low temp mode and needed some batteries for the remote for the upstairs tv. Easy check in and out. Winchester and surrounding areas gave us some lovely weather with just enough mist and fog to be a relief from the inland heat we were coming from. Highly recommended!

About the host
Hosted by Jay & Jerri Zettervall
We are a retired couple who met in high school. It took 47 years, but we reconnected and got married in 2020. Both of us were born and raised in Oregon but live in Montana now. Jerri had settled in Coos Bay and wanted to have a connection to her roots. That led us to purchase our new home and we are happy to share it.
Why they chose this property
It's on the Coast and offers connections all the wonderful benefits of a small, coastal town. Plus, it's close to Jerri's grandkids.
What makes this property unique
Some guests want access to the 40 miles of Oregon's dunes. Others want to enjoy the beach and ocean. Still others simply want a quiet hideaway. With Winchester Bay Retreat, you can enjoy it all! It truly is: "Where the Dunes meet the Beach."
