WALLEYE SEASON opens April 29, 2017, don't miss this opportunity.
Manistee Lake has good fishing for Walleye, Small and Largemouth Bass, pike and various panfish. The lake is not crowded and is fun to fish, explore and look at wildlife, like the bald eagle. Bring your boat.
Located very close to thousands of acres of state land and small streams. A very good place to go deer and bird hunting, or exploring. The many acres of state land help to reduce overcrowding. All very very close by.
Whether you want to relax and read a good book at the waters edge, play golf nearby at a beautiful golf coarse, go fishing on your boat or kayak on a very uncrowded and scenic lake. Take a picturesque canoe trip down the magnificent Manistee River not very far away. Boat, sail or waterski the wide open Manistee Lake, it's all available.
Great sightseeing is close by, take a short drive to Traverse City, Petoskey, or other surrounding destinations, it is all there for you.
The lovely wooded lot, sandy beach and boat dock, will provide you a place to really relax and have a great time. Just bring your jet ski or boat and launch it across the lake, less than five minutes from the property, and the boat dock to tie up to.
Looking for night life and entertainment? It is just a short 30 minute drive to the newly expanded Turtle Creek Casino!
The cottage is also just a few miles from the GRANDVIEW GOLF COARSE with incredible views and a restaurant. Some great rates and fall colors now. If golf is your pleasure there many more courses within an hour.
The surrounding woods are wonderful for hiking, biking and off roading on the extensive ORV trail system. There is a dirt bike trail just minutes away from the cottage. Take advantage of the cooler spring and fall weather and ride the many trails that are nearby. No need to trailer your rides, you can ride along the side of the road in Kalkaska County.
Manistee Lake is especially popular for families with younger children as the sandy bottom extends out and is shallow and safe for play. The beach and shallow water at the property edge is really great fun for dogs to play as their feet can touch the bottom for quite a way out. Have a BBQ on the outdoor river rock BBQ, and take in the fabulous sunsets our lake is known for. We provide some firewood so you can enjoy campfires in the fire pit at the lakes your marshmallows!

My whole family enjoyed many years going to the cottage. We looked forward to getting away from the city an having fantastic campfires and smelling the fresh air. I always liked to ride the trails on a dirt bike. Also, looked forward to fall and some fantastic bird hunting while the fall colors took hold. Then took many scenic drives in the fall and visited the many local orchards.
Steve purchased this Cottage in 1993
Why Steve chose Coldsprings
Easy drive from Southern Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. The location is centrally located, and close to some very quant towns.
What makes this Cottage unique
There are many, but for starters. The lake is big and not congested. The walleye fishing is very good, thousands of fish planted recently, along with the ability for doing about all of the water sports. There is a fire pit at the waters edge, where you can watch the sunsets while roasting marshmellows. Next, the very close proximity thousands of acres of STATE land with many trails for offloading, biking and hiking etc. Big rivers that are not very far away. They offer excellent fly fishing and canoeing. In the fall there is hunting for deer and birds on many square miles of state land only minutes away. A VERY PICTURESQUE golf coarse close by with great rates. I could keep going!!!

Nice Cabin on Pretty Lake
The fall colors were great in the surrounding areas and on the lake. The kayaks were fun and easy to use, the cabin was nice, and with few neighbors around we practically had the lake to ourselves- which was very peaceful and enjoyable.
Thank you for writing a review.
Excellent Lake Getaway
A group of friends, a dog, and myself wanted a weekend away with lake access. This place was amazing. First, perfect size. Small, cozy, quaint. Second, direct access to the lake with a dock, shallow beach, kayaks, and fire pits.
Our dog was able to endlessly chase the ball into the water and ring it back while grilling all throughout the weekend.
The only things I would mention is that neighbors are close, but very nice and quiet.
Summer Vacation Spot!
Had a beautiful week with my family at this Cottage! The setting is perfect for a Up North get-a-way, on a lake! The lake and beach area are very clean and perfect for children and pets to play! House is cozy and cute! For rainy and cool days, the fireplace and cable big flat screen tv was a plus! We also appreciated the wi-if! House equipped with everything for basic needs! Centrally located to Kalkaska, Mancelona and Grayling! Only about 15-20 minutes up north drive time! Close to ORV trails! Property is nestled in the woods for a peaceful, quiet, relaxing, beautiful vacation!
Thanks Cindy and Steve!!
Great Memorial Weekend
Spent the weekend here with my husband, our 6 week old baby, and our golden retriever. The pictures do not do justice to this place. Its extremely clean, and better yet extremely comfortable. All amenities were there. The yard was fantastic and the beach area was pretty nice. It was very easy to go in and out of the water, nice and shallow quite a ways out. The wood fire grill was interesting.... but easy to operate and different/fun :) The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, we had a great time and plan to be back. Thanks Steve!
The property was fantastic on beautiful Lake Manistee. Really enjoyed going down to the water, where there was a fire pit, wooden swing and a long dock and simply taking in the beauty of the lake. Great property for a couple or small family.
Very nice cabin on a beautiful lake.
This cabin is in a beautiful setting with all the comforts of home, we plan to stay again next year.
Fishing boat rentals are available to rent near Grayling. Usage of our kayaks (on our lake!) is for you to use, while looking for the bald eagles or pleasure. The beautiful Grandview golf coarse is a very short distance away, with great views and dining.
