Michael made clear his disappointment when arriving on xmas day, and communicated the TV was broken which hadn't previously been reported. Admittedly our usual welcome was not feasible given it being xmas day which was explained to the guest. We also explained that we were due some renovations, and as such the rental was placed at a discounted price. We're sorry the villa did not meet the guests expectation, and the guest was quite vocal in demanding a refund stating that HomeAway was going to move them elsewhere which was simply not true. HomeAway saw that we had a tricky customer and thankfully noted that we were doing everything in our powers to rectify any legitimate issues ( especially given it was xmas time). Note to all potential future guests, the villa has recently undergone significant renovations, and we do not feel this review fairly reflects the standard of the villa.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the succinct review, great sunsets I would 100% agree. We hope you had an enjoyable stay overall, and were able to enjoy the views and nature despite some frustrations? We would agree the villa is not yet 5 star luxury, and we believe the rate and description reflects this while we continue to improve the villa. Montserrat is a very undeveloped island reliant on imports for pretty much everything, as such everywhere is a little rough around the edges. We are planning to replace beds and furniture very soon. Linens will be replaced asap. Similarly the driveway is on the list of urgent repair jobs. We rely on feedback in order to identify issues and improve the villa, given we are based in the UK. Hi Guys, First of all many thanks for your feedback, given that we're overseas owners we rely on this to both maintain and improve the villa. We are indeed aiming for that 5star experience and as such we take all of your feedback on-board. - The light situ has been rectified as I believe you guys also provided similar feedback to Yvette - The sliding doors are booked in to have an overhaul by our maintenance team once the current guests leave - The TV is a smartTV, but it doesn't have a camera on it, we'll look into options in this regard - The driveway is our highest priority in terms of larger jobs, and we're currently getting quotes from local firms to remedy the slope and resurface. We would love the opportunity to host you guys again and see if we can get you up to that 5 star rating next time. :-) Thanks again, and glad that overall you enjoyed the villa, its privacy and wonderful views. Hi Susan & George, So so disappointed to here about your poor experience via your review. Obviously without any feedback during your stay it is impossible to rectify some of the very easily fixable issues while you are there. I 100% agree, that light fittings should have working bulbs, and our managing agent Yvette is on hand to help with any such issues. Same goes for the bath mat, and pool fixture. Both could be changed / re-fitted in an instant. We have new outdoor furniture coming over from the US, and I sincerely apologise that it wasn’t delivered in time for your stay. We do not reside on Montserrat and thus we rely on our managing agent Yvette and guest feedback to keep on top of maintenance and any issues at the villa. I feel very disappointed that there was no communication regarding any of these issues during the stay to give an opportunity for them to be rectified, but instead a permanent 2 star rating is given. The issues mentioned are all very minor maintenance issues, with the exception of the outdoor furniture which as I mentioned is due for delivery from Miami this week. I do not feel 2 stars is a fair reflection on the villa. We don’t profess to be a 5 star hotel, but we do offer a clean and beautiful Caribbean home with a pool and sublime views over the Caribbean Sea, for a very reasonable cost per night.
