About this property

Private Beach Park, Sauna, Hot Tub, Dog & Family Friendly

LOCATION: This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is in the hillside neighborhood of Talmont estates in Tahoe City, about a mile above the lake at elevation 6900'. From this West Shore location, it's easy to get out and explore the beautiful scenery, outdoor activities and landmarks that make Lake Tahoe famous. The house is just one block away from a trail system that leads to Page Meadows, and eventually the Tahoe Rim Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. This trail system is great for hiking/biking in the summer, or snowshoeing/cross country skiing in the winter. This open-concept, comfortable vacation home with sauna and hot tub, and quick access to year-round activities makes it a good choice for a relaxing stay.

THE HOME:
Downstairs: Bear Cub Cabin has a reverse floor plan. Entering the cabin downstairs, there are 3 bedrooms, a tub/shower bathroom, and a sauna.
All bedrooms feature quality bedding and large flat screen TVs.
Bedrooms:
1. King bedroom
2. Queen bedroom
3. Bunk bedroom with full size bed + 2 twin beds (1 twin above it and 1 twin trundle below it.)
An adjacent hallway leads to the Viking Sauna downstairs.

Upstairs: Heading upstairs, the open great room provides a comfortable place to relax, with a cool round glass wood burning fireplace right in the center of it all. There are abundant sofas, a 75" TV for movie night, a fully equipped kitchen, and a 6-seat dining area, plus 2 barstools at the kitchen peninsula. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry area. The upstairs bathroom has a shower.
The Deck: The great room leads to a south-facing deck with tree-filtered distant lake views, a Marquis hot tub, an electric BBQ grill, and patio seating. The patio seating is a padded conversation set in the summer, or resin Adirondack chairs in the winter.

Starter supplies provided: paper towels, TP, dish and hand soaps, shampoos, body wash, laundry detergent, firewood (during cold season)

NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Activities that make Tahoe so popular are skiing and snowboarding, fishing, bike riding, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, river rafting and hiking, all within a short distance from the cabin.. Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Ski Resorts are about a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Plenty of restaurants and shopping are nearby. 3 incredible State Parks including Sugar Pine Point, DL Bliss and Emerald Bay are a short drive away. For gaming, the nearest casinos are Crystal Bay about 15 minutes away, Incline Village about half an hour, or, South Shore and Reno about an hour away.

AMENITIES: Access to the popular private Lake Tahoe Park Association (LTPA) beach park is included with this rental. https://laketahoepark.com
The LTPA is about one mile downhill from the home. 6 beach chairs and 6 beach towels are supplied at the cabin seasonally for guest use. This property has a half acre lot with an area set up for playing horseshoes or corn hole. Enjoy the Viking Sauna and the Marquis hot tub year round!

PETS: Dogs love Tahoe too! Well mannered dogs of any size/weight are welcome as long as they are well behaved, potty trained, flea treated, and over one year old. The pet fee is $20 per day, which covers up to 2 dogs.

CANCELLATION: Cancellation refunds are given in accordance with the VRBO cancellation policy in effect upon booking this property.

INSURANCE RECOMMENDED: Tahoe is a great place to visit, but occasionally can be affected by extreme events. While we never want issues like icy roads, inclement weather, road closures, wildfire smoke, illness, pandemic upticks, etc. to negatively impact our guests, it may happen.
When booking Bear Cub Cabin, optional trip insurance is highly recommended. VRBO offers Cancellation Protection through Global Generali: You may be reimbursed for covered non-refundable trip costs if you have to cancel because of illness, injury, theft of visa or passport, or involuntary loss of employment. We also recommend travelers consider "Cancel For Any Reason" travel insurance (offered by private companies) if you want cancellation refunds anytime for any reason at all.

Blizzard March 2024
My young sons and I raced up ahead of a big snowstorm in the hopes we'd get out on the slopes early after things opened up. Not meant to be!...We ended up pinned in the cabin for three and a half days while the storm raged. But what a treat to have such a warm, cozy, and well-appointed refuge in which to watch the snow pile up. We loved our stay, despite having to retreat home just as the resorts were reopening, having left no fresh tracks in the powder. We'll be back sometime to try again!

Cozy Cabin
Loved our visit. Very cozy, well stocked, clean rental with a great view. Hot tub was the perfect way to end the day after countless hours playing in the snow. The yard is the perfect place for snow play if you have young kids.

Perfect weekend getaway
We had an amazing time at the Bear Cub Cabin. Perfect place to relax with family. We enjoyed the open space at the trail head about a block away, toasting smores in the fireplace, and hanging out in the hot tub. Couches were super comfy and a great layout upstairs. Will definitely be staying again

Perfect North Shore
Lovely peek a boo view of the lake from the hot tub and living room. Enjoyed sunrise and sunset over the lake on the south facing deck. Great separation of living and bedroom spaces. Perfect for night owls and early birds. Backyard was a snowy wonderland for the kids. The hosts were very attentive and the cabin was well furnished. We had a great time and hope to stay here again and again.
