Niagara Falls Area Lakefront Getaway - private yet close to everything!
Growing up in Barker, population 500+/-, I could not wait to leave and see what our country had to offer. The answer I found after being transferred to Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Kentucky, Georgia and back to Maryland for my work in the hospitality industry is there's no place like home! I enjoy sharing all the attractions our area has to offer from a local's perspective - much more fun than reviewing a tourism brochure!!
Susan purchased this Lodge in 2001
Why Susan chose Barker
My mother, wanting her wandering daughter to return home to Western New York, sent Tom and I a little clipping from the Buffalo News about a bank foreclosure on Lake Ontario. Our property sat vacant for seven years, was purchased on an internet auction and was brought back to life for all to share. Our lake house has unobstructed views to Toronto, 900' of shoreline, 80 acres of land to explore, privacy and peace and quiet.
What makes this Lodge unique
Our lake house has 900 feet of unobstructed waterfront as well as 80 acres to explore. We are on a major migratory bird route as well as on the Monarch Butterfly flyway. We provide canoes and kayaks as well as bicycles for our guest's enjoyment.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Tom and Susan were extremely helpful with the entire process from reservation to check out. The location was amazing (away from everything which made it very peaceful!). We enjoyed Niagara Falls before checking in and then went back the next evening for fireworks (only about 45 min to 1 hour drive). We explored the nearby wineries, farms, and Amish markets and enjoyed the kayaks daily on the water! Tom and Susan also offer outstanding support for military families! Overall - GREAT EXPERIENCE!
Grand family reunion
The owners, Tom and Susan, went out of their way to be helpful during our stay. They supplied a kiddie pool for our grandchildren, and 3 grills for our over sized reunion which had about 45 in attendance. With canoes, kayaks and an enormous yard we didn't feel cramped at all.
The house was perfect for our stay when we unwound from days at the Falls and Olcott Beach . Right at the edge of Lake Ontario we could look out and see nothing but lake, sky and magnificent sunsets. We would love to return sometime.
Another Great Stay
We have enjoyed this property for years! We enjoy the location and the access to the lake and local attractions. I grew up in Newfane (nearby) and love catching up with my family here. Tom and Susan are great hosts! I recommend this property to anyone!
Wonderful Location on Lake Ontario and Great Hosts
The house is located in a wonderful location and provides plenty of space and privacy to really kick back and relax. Visited several wineries and quaint towns in the area. Close to Niagara Falls and Erie Canal. Our family enjoyed the kayaks, canoe and rowboat that were provided. My husband and I enjoyed the large master suite with beautiful views of the lake. While our teenage boys enjoyed having their own living space on the first floor. Tom and Sue were wonderful hosts, quickly responding to any questions we had and provided helpful information about the surrounding area.
Perfect place for family trip
We arrived at the house after a long drive from Wisconsin only to be greeted warmly by the lovely Tom and Sue and of course Beau the Golden Retriever....our real host.
Both the location and house were perfect for our family trip. The house was warm and comfortable and provided for our every need while we were there. Beau would stop in several times a day to make sure we were happy.
We saw beautiful sunsets and enjoyed viewing the skyline of Toronto across the lake. Although it was a bit chilly to take advantage, Tom and Sue provided a canoe and kayaks should we have been able to get out in the water. We did cook out over a fire one night as a firepit was provided.
The location was a perfect distance to family members who live near Hamlin and Niagara Falls. In between we had a tour of the Erie Canal, visited wineries and enjoyed some of the charming and authentic beach towns in the area.
If we come back to the area we would stay with Tom, Sue and Beau again and it would feel like home.
We enjoyed meeting your family and it was a pleasure to have you stay at our lake house. Beau was looking for you after you had left! If your travel plans bring you this way again, we would love to have you stay at our lake house.
Beautiful location and awesome hosts
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lakefront cottage. Susan and Tom are the best hosts - very gracious and accommodating. Beau was a welcome visitor always.
The sunsets were awesome. Listening to the gentle waves just steps away from the Lakehouse is as relaxing as it gets. We hope to come back next time.
It was nice meeting all of you and we are so glad you enjoyed the lake and the time with your family. Beau thinks everyone comes to see him!
We would love to have you stay again - keep us in mind for a future visit.
Our lake house is located 40 minutes from Niagara Falls on the Niagara Wine Trail and is between two great fishing areas - Burt Dam and Point Breeze. Lockport offers the Erie Canal boat ride and the caves. Buffalo is an architect's dream to tour and Rochester's Strong Museum of Play is the best place to spend your day with children. When all the sightseeing is done, there is no better place to relax than on our lakeside decks.
