Beautiful Resort, Clean, and Comfortable
The Westin Princeville was beautiful, quiet (minus a rooster or two--you can't escape them on Kauai), and relaxing. The grounds are meticulously kept and the rooms were updated, comfortable, and clean. There are charging ports in the lights, but if you have 10+ devices, I'd still probably recommend bringing a power strip. The wifi worked well. Cell service on the island can be a little patchy. The room had a kitchenette, with a microwave, a small range, dishwasher, and medium sized fridge/freezer. The rooms were stocked with anything you'd need to cook and eat with, and starter packs of paper towels and dish soap. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. There was a grocery store 5 minutes outside the resort grounds and you are ten minutes from Hanalei Bay (beach) and town (Pink's ice cream). Food on the island is pricey, so pack an extra suitcase of snacks or food items. The pools and hot tubs at the resort were awesome and never overcrowded. There is a convenience store on the resort grounds for items if you don't feel like getting in the car, and a restaurant (we didn't try it). The resort sits at one end of the island, and everything else is under a 2 hr drive for day trips (Waimea Canyon (2 hrs), Silver Falls Ranch horse back riding (15 mins), Kauai Juice Co. local kombucha (15 mins), Koloa Rum Co. free tasting (1 hr), Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail (~1 hr)). It was definitely the most beautiful and scenic section of the island. The owners were great and made sure we felt comfortable and were available to answer all our questions. If you are the social type, I recommend having a drink with them at the pool. They are fun people to hang out with.
