I am a filmmaker by profession. When my grandmother passed away, I felt a strong wish to keep the house where I had spent so much of my childhood.

My grandmother Franziska – Franzi – had already been welcoming guests here since the 1960s. Chalet Franzi was always a place where people came together, shared time, and enjoyed the mountains. Growing up, it was the guests I met and the moments we shared that stayed with me.

When Franzi passed away, it felt natural to continue what she had started. Today, we still welcome guests to Chalet Franzi with the same idea: offering a calm, welcoming place in the mountains where people can feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home.

I didn’t actively choose this neighborhood – it was chosen by my grandparents. They built the house here many decades ago, long before it became a tourist destination, because of its quiet setting, open views and direct access to the mountains.

Over time, it became clear how special this location is: right next to the ski slope, with hiking trails starting nearby, yet calm and removed from busy roads. We simply continued what began here years ago and adapted the house carefully for today’s guests.

For us, it still feels like the right place – a location shaped by history, nature and a slower rhythm that many guests appreciate today.

Chalet Franzi is a family-owned house with a long history of welcoming guests. It has grown over decades and has always been cared for with attention and respect for the place. Rather than being designed as a typical holiday rental, it reflects a personal approach to hosting.

The chalet combines a quiet setting and direct access to skiing and hiking with a thoughtful, high-quality interior. We value good materials, solid equipment and details that make the house comfortable and pleasant to stay in, without being showy.

With two separate apartments, Chalet Franzi offers space for families or groups to spend time together while still enjoying privacy. Many guests appreciate that the house feels calm, personal and well maintained – a place shaped by experience, quality and genuine hospitality.
