Winter Ski / Summer Chalet near Pamporovo / Plovdiv, Bulgaria
About Owner/Property Manager
We live in Leicestershire (England), and have 2 children who are both enjoying primary school life. My wife and I both work, but spend most of our holidays in Bulgaria, where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this Chalet in 2007
Why Owner/Property Manager chose Pamporovo
Having a young family, we really wanted to invest in the mountains to give us a regular get-away to their beauty and tranquillity. We therefore spent 2 years building this wonderful chalet. In the winter, it gives us a great family holiday of skiing. As the boys get older, it has been fascinating to see them progress from the nursery slopes to the black runs. In the spring, summer, and autumn, it is lovely to escape the hustle and bustle of English life, and enjoy the space, beauty and peacefulness of the mountains. The sun always seems to shine, and we just love exploring the area - hiking up into the mountains, playing in the meadows, walking down into the village centre to enjoy a chat and a drink, or getting into the car and visiting the many local tourist attractions.
What makes this Chalet unique
The chalet comfortably accommodates up to 10 people. When the 4 of us stay there, it is really nice to have lots of space, but at the same time still feeling cosy and comfortable. The chalet sits at the top of the village and as a result has one of the most amazing panoramic views that I have ever seen from a holiday property. Beyond the chalet are fields and meadows and tracks, all ready to be explored and to enjoy. The food in the local restaurants is excellent, and one benefit from holidaying in Bulgaria is the cost of living. The spending money savings made by holidaying in this part of the world, rather than, say, Western Europe, would probably pay for the chalet rental (and more).

Fab skiing holiday
Pamporovo has been a favourite skiing area for our family, and for the first time we also skied in Chepelare - it was a real surprise as it was very quiet with no queues - the main red run is great fun. The chalet fitted our needs perfectly as we are not ones for raucous apres-ski, and certainly have an agenda of a 'holiday with skiing', rather than a 'skiing holiday'. Most days, we spent a lazy morning at the chalet, enjoying the tranquillity and amazing views with walks in the snow covered fields (as we had a week of sunny and bright skies), followed by a few hours of skiing, a lovely meal (at the restaurants that you recommended), and then back to the chalet for a shower, a family movie, and then games in front of the roaring living room fire (accompanied by a glass of wine) - just ideal. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay at your wonderful property.
You're very welcome, and hope to see you again soon

Relaxing sunny holiday
We had a lovely relaxing stay at your beautiful house. So much room, and in a great position to just sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views with a glass of beer or wine. We explored the area and thought 'wonderful bridges' was very dramatic, and we managed to have a go on the zip wire near Chepelare (that you recommended), and hired bikes to take advantage of the velo park in Pamporovo. The weather was super and we hope to return in the future.
Thanks for your kind words Alex
Stunning Views from a Beautiful Chalet
We had a fantastic holiday at your beautiful house. We had everything we needed inside the property, but we spent most of our time enjoying the outside – wow – what views of the mountains – absolutely wonderful. The sun shone all week and we really enjoyed walking down into the village for the shops or to enjoy a drink or for some food in the bars and restaurants. We loved exploring the meadows, fields and woodlands behind the chalet and it was nice to have so much space. We had such a relaxing week – thank you so much.
Thanks Yvonne - hope you come back soon
Travelling to Bulgaria and then onto the chalet and mountain area is a very easy process and we can help advise the best ways to travel. Ryanair operate scheduled flights from Stansted to Plovdiv (under an hour transfer to the chalet), as well as winter chartered flights. Wizzair, Easyjet, BA, and Bulgaria Air fly to the capital Sofia (2.5 hour transfer via 2 very good roads - a quality motorway and then a scenic mountain road). Help can be provided with flights, transfers and car hire.
During the summer months, outdoor life of walking, hiking, rock climbing, horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, bird watching, fishing, hunting and canoeing can all be enjoyed. Local hotels in Pamporovo and Chepelare offer swimming pools, bars, restaurants, shopping and bowling. Extensive spa facilities are available at very reasonable prices. The ski lifts can be used to explore the higher mountains by foot or bike. Pamporovo and Chepelare open up their lifts and runs to turn the resorts into velo parks, offering bike rental and good value lift passes. The nearest city of Plovdiv offers Roman ruins of old cobbled streets leading to an Amphitheatre. The famous 900 year old Bachkovo Monastery is only 30km away (30 minutes). Other attractions include numerous churches, museums, an observatory, fortresses, caves and rock formations – ‘Wonderful Bridges’ is a must see. Exploring direct from the chalet provides meadows, forests and footpaths to the rear, and a relaxed and friendly village to the front. The village has bars, restaurants, shops and even a newly built tennis court.
