Guestbook comments from the owner

What a Beautiful Home! We spent our first two nights on your sleeping porch. How wonderful! After seeing how lovely it was, we wished we had stayed a longer time. We hope to come again.

It was a beautiful home with a warm atmosphere!

  • 5 of 5

It is a great home if you want to relax and eat there. The kitchen was well stocked and a very nice eating area. The bedrooms were comfortable and everything very clean.

The house itself is lovely, but access to the river is not as easy as it looks in the pictures.

  • 3 of 5

We had an overall good time during our visit, but while the house definitely met our expectations, the outdoor spaces and river access were not as advertised. The path from the house to the private dock is treacherous! The path is almost completely overgrown and the handrail literally broke off in my hand as I attempted to use it. When we reached the dock it was in bad shape. We'd hoped to be able to at least put some floats in the water there and fish from the dock, but that didn't happen. We did use the access to the clubhouse, which was a little better, but definitely not accessible for anyone who can not climb a STEEP, slippery path.

The back porch (not screened) is very pretty with comfortable chairs and a fireplace, which we used once. We tried to sit out and enjoy a quiet morning coffee, but the road noise from nearby I26 is very loud and almost constant. I guess that's a double edge sword, because the close proximity also makes it easy to hop on the interstate and get to some of the nice surrounding towns, like Hendersonville, Saluda, and Flat Rock.

Access to Summit Lake is very difficult. Unless you are a resident, you can only use the lake with canoes or kayaks- nothing motorized. And locating the pedestrian gate to use the lake is not easy! This was my bad, I should have done more research on access to the lake.

The pictures of the house and grounds included in the overview are over 10 years old in most cases. Some things like the dock and grill look quite different now! The gas grill was disgustingly dirty. We did not use it, so I'm not sure if it even worked. I did not contact the owner during our stay about it, maybe that could have been corrected.

As I mentioned, this is a lovely and very comfortable house, it just didn't completely meet the expectations I had.

This is an amazing house with great porches! If you like to be outside among the fresh air and trees, you will love this house! The driveway is a bit hard to navigate, but the house totally makes up for that!

Very enjoyable Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this cabin very much! We had a family vacation during thanksgiving that we spent at this location. We had plenty of room for everybody to sleep and enjoy cooking a big meal for thanksgiving dinner. A person can easily get to Asheville or any of the other cool sites in the area in a reasonable amount of time. The cabin is equipped with a very nice fireplace and screened in porch.

Maybe one of the coolest houses in Western NC

  • 5 of 5

Great and responsive hostess. Amazing beauty in this this treehouse and the forest surrounding it. very comfortable beds and furniture and setting. A couple of tips: make sure your car or SUV can handle a steep gravel driveway, because this is one. Very close to the highway (NC25) so you can get nearly anywhere in western NC fast. Be sure to do the Green River tubing trip in Saluda, just 20-25 minutes away. A riot!

We will go back for sure to this gem of a retreat if we can!
