Beautiful Cabin on the River

  • 5 of 5

We rented the main cabin and the studio while we were attending a wedding in Randle, WA. 7 people total, with 2 kids (ages 7 and 9), 5 adults (including three over 65) and two dogs. The cabin is located in a quiet "development" in the woods that has a community pool and many other nice vacation-type homes. It is secluded, off the main road, and the property backs up to the river. We spent the first day throwing rocks in the river with the kids and also made use of the wonderful hot tub on the deck, as well as the access to the community pool. There is a nice grocery store right down the road with just about everything you might need (Blanton's Market - IGA). The owner of the cabin was very responsive, and even helped us track down a missing makeup bag after our stay. My husband and I slept on the Murphy/wall bed in the studio, our kids slept in the star-gazing loft in the studio, and the other three adults had their own rooms in the main house. The back porch looking out toward the river is beautiful and serene and where we spent most of our down time. It had some deck chairs and a small table... my only suggestion would be to add an outdoor table for guests to enjoy their meals outside during the summer months. There is a walking trail through the neighborhood, complete with several "tiny libraries" and a few neighborhood horses that liked to eat the carrots we brought for them. The kitchen was well stocked with pans, utensils, etc., and we didn't eat a single meal out during our 3 day stay. I'd love to come back and have more time to hike the nearby trails from Paradise, or the Grove of the Patriarchs.

I will come back and write a more detailed response when I have more time, but I wanted to quickly say that it is a lovely cabin, and my wife and I had a wonderful stay.

Idyllic getaway for Memorial Day weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin and adjacent studio offer picturesque charm in a beautiful, woodsy setting. The Cowlitz River, which you can enjoy off the spacious deck, highlights the sounds of peaceful nature. I loved the high ceilings in the great room, the charming details throughout: antler chandelier, each room featuring its own name placard of a famous mountain (i.e. Mt. St. Helens room), even a complimentary bottle of wine featuring the cabin! The serenity of the property and surrounding scenic vistas are spectacular. It's conveniently located both to the town of Packwood and nearby Mt. Rainier. I would highly recommend this property and eagerly look forward to a return visit.

Comfortable plus great location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Packwood. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The location allowed for numerous day trips. The residents of Packwood were friendly and helpful. Being from GA we were hoping to see elk, as someone had mentioned seeing a herd of elk every morning. That was our only disappointment, certainly nothing the cabin owners have control over. If we ever return to Washington this will be our cabin of choice.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We loved this wonderful house with all its amenities, the nice little town of Packwood and the awesome Mt. Rainier NP close by. We sat on the deck for hours watching the eagles above us during the day and the stars and milky way in the evenings. The total quietness around us was perfect.

A Gift

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our family reunion. From great grand aunt to four year old niece, all ages were very comfortable in this clean welcoming home. The four year old especially like the Stargazer mini house. We visited Mount St. Helen's on our way to Packwood so the pictures decorating the home and rooms named after the mountains was especially memorable. The neighborhood was perfect for morning runs and afternoon walks. The four year old loved the pool. No one tried the hot tub but it was ready when we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped and the local grocery store had ample selections. The wilderness observation from the deck was amazing. We had most family staying at the Paradise Inn at Mount Rainier (an easy and scenic drive from Packwood) and this VRBO home was hands down a nicer place to stay. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms had ample towels. Thanks for sharing your Washington Mountain home with us.
