About The Owner

Tom and Sue live in Northern Virginia with our two boys, Alex (13) and Brian (10) - and Charlie, our adopted dog.

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

Why The Owner chose Wintergreen

Tom has wanted a 'house in the mountains' since he was a kid, and we've always loved Wintergreen's natural and peaceful setting. It's a true getaway. And not only has our family loved being at Point of View over the years, but we've had the pleasure of hosting more than 400 guests who have enjoyed all four seasons at the resort. Some from as far away as England, Ireland and even Saudi Arabia!

We encourage you to check out our 90+ guest comments. And please ask us as many questions as you'd like about the house and resort. We want to make sure Point of View is the right choice for your mountain getaway.

What makes this house unique

Point of View offers ski in/out convenience - our front door is 50 feet from the Tyro slope. And our views of the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond the slope make the house perfect for all seasons. We are located on a cul de sac, so there is very little traffic and it's always quiet. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and 2 full baths on the main floor and a loft with 3 twin beds upstairs. The house is perfect for one or two families or a girls' or guys' weekend. Kids love the loft, especially the spiral stairs that lead up to it.

Great family cabin

  • 5 of 5

Point of View was a great choice for our family getaway. It is a lovely, fun cabin equipped with everything you could possibly need. Mornings on the deck were so relaxing and the views were amazing. The cabin location is great for getting to all the Wintergreen amenities. It is certainly a great place for making memories!

Amazing home with great view

  • 5 of 5

We recently had a family reunion for the 4th of July. The house is a cosy place with decent amenities. Since we were stuck indoors most of the time due to a storm, we utilized the wonderful selection of board games to engage the kids and enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen.

Cosy home base for exploring Wintergreen area

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came to Point of View for a weekend getaway. We booked last minute due to some other accommodations falling through and Tom and Sue were extremely prompt, friendly, and efficient with the booking process. This house was perfect for our purposes. Although I was intent on renting a house with air conditioning, since it was high 80's, low 90's while we were there, we actually never turned on the AC, since it was always at least 10 degrees cooler on the mountain. The view of the mountain opposite Wintergreen was beautiful from the deck and the living room and we spent several hours chilling out with books and movies and staring at the scenery. I did spend a little too much time surfing the hundreds of TV channels looking for a soccer game, but I had no place to be. We cooked breakfast at Point of View and at our other meals out. While at Point of View, we hiked at Crabtree Falls ( spectacular falls, about a 4 mile up and back hike, about a 35 minute drive from the house), did tastings at Veritas Winery (beautiful scenery), Wild Wolf Brewery, and Blue Toad Cidery (just down the mountain from Wintergreen across from Devils Backbone Brewery). Obviously this area is becoming a haven for Wine, Beer, cider and even Spirit making. The views from most of these places are breathtaking and it was great to spend some afternoons hanging out, talking to other tourists, and sampling some refreshing drinks. I have been to Wintergreen four previous times in the winter months, but this was the first time in the summer and it is a really beautiful area to explore, just a few hours from Northern Virginia. I would book with Tom and Sue again, in any season.

Point of View was great for us.

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for two older couples with mobility problems. Only 3 steps to negotiate. Lovely view and easy-to-find location. The house had everything we needed, including comfortable seating and a well-equipped kitchen.

May 2016 Visit

  • 5 of 5

We were three older couples and enjoyed our stay very much. The kitchen had all we needed and there was seating for all of us at the table. Yes, the view is great - ski slope and long range mountains. Two bedrooms are downstairs and a good size. There are three single beds in the loft so this condo is flexible. The resort has a lot to offer and it is also a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was nice to be close to the convenient store and gas station within the resort.
