About Cottage Hibiscus

Thanks for considering Cottage Hibiscus at Villa Juanita for your vacation. We are sure that you will enjoy what we hope will be one of your best vacations in Tenerife. It is very cozy and accommodates 2 comfortably. There is also room for a folding bed or a cod if you travel with a child or a baby.

Here you will be able to enjoy a relaxing breakfast in your private terrace in the shade of an avocado tree while you listen to the song of the birds and sometimes the sound of the waves crushing against the black sand of the nearby beaches. Also you can watch the stars on clear nights, it is a beautiful spectacle.

Enjoy tranquillity but close to everything. Located within a very quiet avocado plantation, the cottage is only 5 min away from La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz; the most important touristic towns of the north of the Island and 2 min from TF-5 the North motorway that connects the north with the rest of the Island.

Criss, my wife and me will try to help you in anything you need. We have put a lot of love and dedication to ensure that you are as comfortable as we would like to be when we go on vacation.

The cottage has been built in July 2014 on a very private lot of the avocado plantation and it offers all the commodities of a modern home without loosing the charm of the wooden construction.

NEAR THE PROPERTY

Restaurants – The closest restaurant is “Restaurante San Diego” Here you can eat well and at a reasonable price. Try the “Pollo a la Brasa” “Grilled Chicken”; they use firewood for the grill and it is very tasty. You can walk from the property as long as you do not mind a steep hill after eating. If you go out to the main road at the Church, you walk down towards the Ocean, at approximately 200 meters you will find the restaurant right at the end of the strait stretch where the main road splits into 2 tracks. Left to Playa Bollullo or Right to Playa El Ancon. Another restaurants nearby that we can recommend are:

- El Monasterio.
Passing comercial centre Al Campo La Villa towards La Montañeta about 200 m on your right. It is a beautiful setting with various thematic restaurants and coffee shop with pastries as well on weekends the serve brunch. Also there is an outside area with animals for the kids and grownups to visit.
- El Calderito in Santa Ursula good food with spectacular views.
- La Bodeguita de Enfrente in front of El Calderito, nice tapas.
- Casa Egon in La Orotava with a terrace overlooking the Jardines Victoria.
- La Solera also in La Orotava is a nice place to have Tapas (Try the Serrano Ham)
- Tito’s Bodeguita in San Nicolas near Al Campo La Villa, very nice patio with live music on weekends.
- La Compostelana in Plaza del Charco in Puerto de La Cruz.

- Cervecería Hannen in Plaza del Charco in Puerto de La Cruz.

Nice places for a cocktail:

- Sunset 290 in Vista Paraiso – Santa Ursula (5 min from home).
- Mirador de Humbolt – Carretera Antigua a la Orotava (Cuesta de la Villa) (5 min from home)
- Blanco-Bar Restaurant in Parque Tahoro in Puerto de La Cruz (10 min from home)
- Terrazas del Sauzal – El Sauzal (15 min from home).
- Abaco Mansión Antigüa in El Durazno. They hold some classical concerts. Check agenda in their web page. (8 min form home).

Supermarkets – You have many within 5 to 10 minutes by car. Mercadona, Hiperdino and Lidl in Santa Ursula are the closest. On Sundays you have to go to Puerto de la Cruz and there you can find “Hipertrebol” in “Centro Comercial La Cupula” or “Supermercado 2000” in La Paz or “Mercadona” in “Commercial Centre Martianez”.

Commercial Centres - “Centro Comercial Al Campo - La Villa” is the closest one (5 minutes by car) and is the largest in the North. It has a huge supermarket, many stores, cinema theatres and a few restaurants and bars. Also you can find McDonalds and Burger King. “Centro Comercial Martianez” is much smaller but it is in Puerto de la Cruz and opens Sundays.

Beaches – Close by you have three of the most beautiful black sand beaches of the north of the Island. “Bollullo”, “Los Patos” and “El Ancon”


Things to do – Places to Visit

There are lots of activities that you can enjoy and places to visit while staying at Villa Juanita.

I would recommend that you visit La Orotava (Oldest colonial town of the North of the Island dating back to 1496 and only a 5 to 8 minute drive away from the property. Here you can see The “Casa de Los Balcones” an old colonial house with spectacular wooden handcrafted balconies and a beautiful interior patio that present in all colonial houses in the Canary Islands. Also you can visit the 'Victoria Gardens', the Town Hall or the beautiful Church of La Concepcion. There are many small restaurants where you can enjoy the typical Spanish tapas or full meals or enjoy a nice expresso at the Kiosko of Plaza de la Constitucion.

Also within a 5 to 8 minute drive you can be in Puerto de la Cruz (main tourist centre of the north). Here you can enjoy a nice walk from Playa Martianez to Plaza del Charco passing by San Telmo all along the coast line. It is very touristy but very nice. Also you can visit the Botanical Gardens, enjoy a relaxing Spa at the Hotel Playa Canaria, visit the Loro Parque. Also in Puerto de la Cruz you can enjoy the salt water swimming pool complex of “Lago Martianez” designed by the famous canarian arquitect Cesar Manrrique. There is also a gambling casino, restaurants, bars, a fishing pier, etc. Bathing in the ocean can be done at Playa Jardin, San Telmo or Playa Martianez.

Don’t miss out on visiting the National Park “Las Cañadas del Teide” The road to get there as well as the National Park itself constitute one of the most beautiful volcanic landscapes of the world.

I do not like rules and my philosophy in life is do to others as I like other people would do to me. Therefore I can only say that Cristina, my wife and me will try to help you in anything you need. We have put a lot of love and dedication to ensure that you are as comfortable as we would like to be when we go on vacation. The cottage has been built between May and July 2014. All is brand new and we have put everything as if it was for us. Please take care of everything as if it was yours and together we will ensure that the next guest can find it as you did. Smoking is not allowed inside the house but if you smoke and want to do it outside in the terrace, we do not have any problem. Please ask us for and ashtray. Regarding the details: About the keys – When you arrive we hand you a set that includes the key to the main door of the cottage and a remote control to open the gate that gives access to the plantation. Please make sure you hand them over the day you leave. About Parking – You have a large parking lot next to the property that you are welcome to use, however we suggest that you park in the area between the 2 big avocado trees (were the branches are lower) because from the breeze, some times, avocados fall and may cause a small bump to your car. About the Garbage – When you have your bucket full or you want to dispose of it, there is a green container just outside the property in front of the Church on the other side of the street. About the bathroom – The property as you can see is situated in a rural area and we do not have public sewage. We would appreciate if you dispose of paper and other hygienic napkins in the small bin placed next to the WC for this purpose. This will ensure that the septic tank does not get clogged up. About the water – The water you have at the property is the same as we have at home. It is not public water. It is natural spring water that has not been treated with chlorine or have any type of sanitary controls. We drink it at home and we feel blessed to have this water. Nobody has ever got sick from drinking this water; however it is your choice to drink it or buy bottled water. About Internet – You have free Wi-Fi access in the house. Please let us know if you have any problems getting access. About the TV and DVD – You have a nice 32” LED TV. However most of the channels you get are in Spanish. Disney Channel can be switched to English. We are considering putting a Satellite Dish so that you have a wide variety of channels to watch, but we really do not know how important this is to our guests, so we will appreciate your opinion. Also there is a DVD with USB connection so that if you want to bring DVDs or movies in a pen drive you can also watch them. We have some movies on DVD at home. If you wish we can provide you with a list and lend them to you any day. If you have problems using the TV or DVD, please let us know we will be happy to help. About the Terrace – You have a table, chairs and 2 lounge chairs. The cushions for these are in the bedroom underneath the bed. We ask you to please take them inside the house when you are not using them and at night because the night dew will make them damp. About Cleaning – Cleaning and changing beds and towels is included once a week. If you need additional cleaning or change of towels we can provide it at a small cost (10€ for changing bed clothes and towels and 10€ for cleaning the house). About Access by the owner– In case we need to repair or inspect something inside the house we will notify you previously (unless it’s an emergency) and we will do it as fast as possible, trying not to disturb your stay in any significant manner. About Insurance – We encourage all renters to purchase traveller insurance. We are not a tourist establishment. You are guests at our property and we do not have especial insurance to cover any medical emergencies, loss of documents or other unpredictable things that could happen during your stay. About Check-out – We request from you that on the day you leave you do so by 11:00 AM. This is important for us since we need some time to make the necessary arrangements for the next guests to find the property as you found it upon arrival. Please remember to return the key and remote control. If your flight is later in the afternoon and you need a place for your luggage we will be happy to store it at home for you.

Such a nice place!

We had a wonderful week at Ted's cottage. Everything was clean and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. Even Ted has equipment for the beach in his cottage. From El Rubicon you can reach nice hiking trails, beautiful beaches and nice villages. Nearby you can find great restaurants. Ted was a perfect host, it was a pleasure to meet him and he took care of us lovingly. Thank you for everything, Ted!

We stayed in villa Hibiscus for 5 days. The property, immersed in a lovely avocado plantation was perfectly equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The location is perfect: only a 20 minute walk away from the islands best black sandy beaches. La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna with their charming historical city centers are only a short drive away. We rented a car and cruised around the island and there is no doubt that I would choose this property again for a future holiday on Tenerife. Thanks again Ted and all the best!

very quiet cottage--bring two alarm clocks...

one for each ear. We slept very soundly and loved the porch area for breakfast or an afternoon drink of cava overlooking the avocado trees and listening to birds. Bullolo beach is in walking distance from the cabin. On a sunny day it's a wonderful place to relax with a just a few families and a (very cute) lifeguard, watching the waves crash. The town La Orotava is very nearby and has some beautiful cobblestone streets--especially at night after a rain when quaint street lights are shining down--and houses with picturesque balconies. We enjoyed good tapa bars/restaurants in this area. Bernard, the proprietor, and his family, whom we requested to meet, are lovely. In short, this is what I call a vacation, and it is SO much more relaxing than the south island, with all the touts on the boardwalk and families with overly-active children. If you come with another couple, there is a lovely cottage next door that will provide privacy and a sense of independence for you both.

Tolles Holzhaus auf Avocadoplantage

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub auf der Avocadoplantage von Ted und Cristina. Das Haus liegt inmitten von viel Grün und in der Nähe der aus unserer Sicht schönsten Strände der Insel. Der Weg zu den Stränden durch die für Teneriffa typischen Bananenplantagen ist traumhaft. Das Restaurant San Diego, das Ted uns empfohlen hatte, bietet eine tolle Auswahl an Essen und lohnt sich wirklich sehr. Ted und Cristina waren unglaublich hilfsbereit und bei Fragen jederzeit erreichbar. Wir können jedem empfehlen, einen Urlaub in der Unterkunft zu buchen!

Quartier im Avocadohain in Nordteneriffa

Freundlichst von den Besitzern empfangen fühlten wir uns vom ersten Augenblick in unserem Feriendomicil sehr wohl. Sehr angenehm ist, dass die Vermieter Bernard & Chris sozusagen nebenan wohnen und gern hilfreich zur Seite stehen. Wir bekamen viele brauchbare Tipps, die unseren Ferienaufenthalt bereicherten. Insbesondere anzumerken ist, dass man sich durch die große Anlage mit vielen Avocadobäumen, die die einzelnen Häuschen trennen trotz Nachbarschaft mit Vermieter und anderen Feriengästen fühlen kann, als lebe man allein auf dem Grundstück. Weitere Pluspunkte: Sehr sauber und liebevolle Einrichtung, zentrale Lage für viele Wanderungen und Ausflüge auf die schönste Seite Teneriffas, ruhige Lage. Minuspunkte: Keine ! ASooAS from Germany !

Relax-Oase

Wir (pensioniertes Lehrerehepaar) mieteten die "Cottage Hibiscus" Mitte Feb. bis Anfang März 2018 und waren außerordentlich zufrieden. Das kleine Ferienhaus sieht aus wie ein Doppelhaus und liegt mit 3 weiteren weitläufig voneinander getrennten Appartements verkehrsgünstig und doch fernab vom Massentourismus in einer 12000 qm großen Avocadoplantage. Das Gelände ist umfriedet und nur durch ein automatisch zu öffnendes Tor zugänglich, was ein Gefühl der Sicherheit vermittelt. Der Gäste-Parkplatz liegt innerhalb des geschlossenen Areals. Die Lage ist absolut ruhig. Die Anlage wird ständig gepflegt und vermittelt einen sehr sauberen Eindruck. Das Appartement ist für 2 Personen ausgelegt und komplett mit allen Haushaltsgeräten, geschmackvoll und großzügig eingerichtet. Der Internetzugang funktioniert einwandfrei. Wasser mit Trinkwasserqualität wird aus eigenem Brunnen gewonnen. Eine intensive Reinigung erfolgt im wöchentlichen Turnus - incl. neuen Bezugs der Betten und Bereitstellung frischer Handtücher. Auf die Terrasse scheint ganztägig die Sonne. Keine geschönten Bilder im Netz!! Der Vermieter (Chemieingenieur/ Halbamerikaner) und seine Frau sind außerordentlich freundliche und hilfsbereite - immer die erforderliche Distanz wahrende - Gastgeber, die im Bedarfsfall Adressen von deutschen Ärzten in Puerto bereithalten und Termine vereinbaren. Sie geben gerne Informationen zur Gestaltung des Aufenthalts und sind jederzeit zu weiteren Auskünften bereit. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten ergeben sich in Santa Ursula (LIDL, 12 Min.) und Orotava (AL CAMPO, 15 Min.). Bademöglichkeiten sind um diese Jahreszeit begrenzt, da die Strände (Buchten) aufgrund starken Seegangs meistens gesperrt sind. Die berühmte Bollullo-Bucht ist nach kurzer Anfahrt (6 Min.) und anschließender Wanderung auf steilem Pfad mit grandiosen Ausblicken zu erreichen, gleichermaßen fußläufig die Playa del Ancon. Ein gutes Restaurant mit zivilen Preisen befindet sich in ca. 200m. Zu erwähnen bleibt, dass man keinen direkten Meeresblick hat und der Blick auf den Teide durch das Geäst von Avocadobäumen überwiegend verdeckt ist. Unbedenklich können wir das Haus "Hibiscus" als eine vom Massentourismus verschonte, erholsame Insel und als verkehrsgünstigen Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung des Nordens von Teneriffa weiterempfehlen. Genau das Richtige für Individualisten, die die Ruhe suchen!

sehr gutes Appartement

Wir (pensioniertes Lehrerehepaar) mieteten das "Cottage Hibiscus" im Feb/März 2018. Das cottage liegt mit 3 weiteren weitläufig von einader getrennten Appartements verkehrsgünstig, abseits vom Massentourismus in einer Avocadoplantage (12000qm). Das Gelände ist umfriedet und nur durch ein automatisch zu öffnendes Tor zugänglich, das vermittelt ein Gefühl der Sicherheit. Der Gäste-Parkplatz liegt innerhalb des geschossenen Areals. Die Anlage ist sauber und wird ständig gepflegt. Die Lage ist absolut ruhig, nur der Hahn kräht um 5:30 in der Ferne. Das App. ist für 2 Pers. ausgelegt und komplett mit allen Haushaltsgeräten, geschmackvoll und großzügig eingerichtet. Internetzugang funktioniert einwandfrei. Wasser mit Trinkwasserqualität kommt aus eigenem Brunnen. Intensive und grundlegende Reinigung erfolgt wöchentlich - incl. Bezug der Betten und Bereitstellung frischer Handtücher. Auf die kompl. eingerichtete Terrasse scheint ganztägig die Sonne. Der Vermieter ( Chemieingenieur/ Halbameri-kaner) und seine Frau sind außerordentlich freundliche und hilfsbereite - die erforderlie Distanz wahrende - Gastgeber, die im Bedarfsfall Termine bei deutschen Ärzten in Puerto vereinbaren. Jederzeit geben sie gerne Auskunft zu allen Fragen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten ergeben sich im sehr gut sortierten LIDL in Santa Ursuka (10 Min.) und im riesigen AL CAMPO in Orotava (10 Min.). Bademöglichkeiten sind zu dieser Jahreszeit wg. starken Wellengangs begrenzt, Stände (Buchten) sind daher meistens gesperrt. Die berühmte Bollullo-Bucht ist nach kurzer Anfahrt (6 Min.) und anschließen-der Wanderung auf steilem Pfad mit grandiosen Ausblicken zu erreichen, die Playa del Ancon fußläufig gleichermaßen. Ein Restaurant mit zivilen Preisen ist in ca. 200 zu Fuß zu erreichen. Wenn von Nachteilen überhaupt zu sprechen ist, bleibt zu erwähnen: es gibt keinen direkten Meeresblick, der Teide-Blick ist überwiegend verdeckt durch das Astwerk von Avocadobäumen, TV ist nur in Span. und Engl.zu empfangen, Geschirr wird von Hand gespült, ein Mietauto ist unbedingt erforderlich. Unbedenklich können wir dieses Appartement als eine vom Massentou-rismus verschonte, erholsame Insel und als einen sehr verkehrsgünstigen Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung des Nordens von Teneriffa weiterem-pfehlen. Genau das Richtige für Individualisten, die Ruhe und Erholung suchen!

Wunderschöner Urlaub!

Wir sind begeistert von dieser schönen Unterkunft mitten in einer Avocadoplantage ♥! Herrlich ruhig, aber nicht weit vom Geschehen weg, hübsch eingerichtet (und mit wirklich allem, was eine Ferienunterkunft brauch...angefangen bei Waschmittel bis hin zu Essig, Öl & Gewürzen!), liebe Gastgeber... was will man mehr für einen schönen, erholsamen Urlaub? Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder, Februar und November 2018 sind fest eingeplant ♥!

Great Cottage

It was a great pleasure staying at this beautiful Cottage. We´ve got everything we needed for an relaxed stay. The Cottage was well prepared for Cooking, Washing clothes etc. and also very clean! We love to come back and stay again there. Ted our landlord is such a kind-heartedness Person, and always to regard for question and advices for local restaurant and places of interest (including a nice Chat :) ). Top Unterkunft

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt in dieser Unterkunft. Die Lage ist einfach schön inmitten von Avocado Bäumen und blühender Landschaft. Es ist alles vorhanden was man für einen gelungenen Urlaub braucht (Küche, Kühlschrank, TV, Waschmaschiene und super WLAN Verbindung. Alles war sehr sauber! Ted der Vermieter ist ein herzensguter Mensch mit vielen informativen Tipps für die Insel und die Umgebung, und jeder Zeit zu erreichen. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort buchen. Man braucht aber dringend ein Auto, die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel können sehr viel Zeit in Anspruch nehmen und fahren am Wochenende teils nur 3x täglich.

Bereits im Vorfeld der Reise wurden wir von Ted mit vielen Informationen und Tipps versorgt, so dass wir schon über Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants Bescheid wussten und die nächtliche Anreise völlig unkompliziert verlief. Überhaupt ist Ted ein äußerst zuvorkommender und immer hilfsbereiter Vermieter, der sich viel Mühe gab und bei dem wir uns sehr wohl fühlten. Im Cottage Hibiskus warteten bei der Anreise ein Obstkorb, eine Flasche Wein und alle Zutaten für das erste Frühstück auf uns. Das Holzhäuschen liegt abgeschieden inmitten einer Avocado-Plantage und ist liebevoll eingerichtet. Von den Bewohnern der beiden anderen Häuschen haben wir so gut wie nichts gesehen und gehört. Die Küche ist mit allem, was man für die Zubereitung einer unkomplizierte Urlaubsmahlzeit braucht, ausgestattet. Auch Gewürze, Essig und Öl standen bereit. Die Umgebung ist ländlich, nicht touristisch und sehr ruhig. Wir konnten uns sehr erholen und entspannen. In der Nähe befindet sich das Restaurant San Diego, wo wir gerne einkehrten und das wir empfehlen können. Zahlreiche Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind mit dem Auto innerhalb von 5 Minuten zu erreichen. Die Strände in der näheren Umgebung haben uns gefallen. El Bollullo ist näher, hat ein kleines Lokal, ist aber auch mehr besucht. El Ancon ist wenig besucht, der Sand ist ganz fein, man muss aber an die Gezeiten denken. Bei beiden Stränden fanden wir den Rückweg in der Sonne ein wenig anstrengend. Insgesamt ist El Rincon ein guter Standort um sich abseits des Massentourismus zu erholen, liegt aber auch so günstig, dass man mit dem unbedingt notwendigen Mietwagen die ganze Insel erkunden kann.

Super toller Urlaub auf Teneriffa

Unser Urlaub auf Teneriffa war absolut spitze ! Das kleine Häuschen war ein Traum. Super gemütlich , sehr sauber und genau wie auf den Bildern dargestellt. TED ist ein super Gastgeber . Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.Bei fragen war er immer da und hat einem sofort geholfen . Wir würden jederzeit wieder bei Ihm Urlaub machen .

Superschöne und individuelle Unterkunft

Sehr gepflegte und liebevoll ausgestattete Unterkunft. Toller und stets zu vor kommender Gastwirt, der an alles gedacht hat und viele Gute Tipps gibt. Das Holzhaus mit ca 35 m2 bietet allen Komfort. Alles in topzustand. Auch eine neue Waschmaschine und Ein großer Fön ist vorhanden. Alle vier Häuser des Anbieters haben eine sehr individuelle Note.

Es ist ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus umgeben von Avocadobäumen und Oleander.

Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll und alles sehr sauber. Der Besitzer nett, fussläufig gibt es ein tolles Restaurant und Puerto de la Cruz ist sehr nah. Aber man braucht unbedingt ein Mietauto.
