Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!

Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.

At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.

Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

Grand potentiel mais gaché par absence de considération du client

Accueil très froid, en cas de marriage, impossibilité de profiter de la piscine, celle-ci étant dès le matin et pour toute la journée prise d'assaut et squattée par les invités. Nous n'étions pas prévenu qu'un groupe aussi grand (+20 personnes) seraient présent au même moment et nous n'avons put profiter de la piscine que les 2 derniers jours, après leur départ. Nous avons demandé une prolongation d'une nuit supplémentaire (pour profiter enfin de la piscine) et on nous a proposé un prix majoré de 20% ! Aucune protection anti moustique, l'appartement n'étant pourvu que de portes fenêtres, impossible d'ouvrir la nuit pour se rafraichir sans se faire dévorer (présence de 2 petits ventilateurs très bruyants et peu efficaces). Départ très froid également, la reception du chateau n'a pas demandé comment ca c'est passé pour nous. C'est le pire accueil que nous avons eu en Toscane en 13 ans.

Wonderful!

We absolutely loved staying in the Montegufoni Castle. It is a truly magical experience. We stayed in one of the apartments adjacent to the castle. It was very spacious and well-equipped for four people. It does not have air conditioning but there are fans in both bedrooms that worked well enough in the summer heat. The pool was marvelous and we had a lot of fun exploring the grounds. We had a car and the drive into Florence was about 25 minutes. We also drove to Pisa one night which was about one hour away. We did not eat in the on-site restaurant but it looked very good (we tried to drop in one night but didn't have a reservation and they were full). There is a little town about 10 minutes away with a good grocery store and restaurants. I would definitely recommend!

Très bel emplacement et environnement avec vue superbe sur la campagne de la Toscane. Proximité de Florence (1/2 heure). Logement très propre et agréable. Seul l'équipement du logement était juste (petit nombre de couverts, d'assiettes, de verres, poêles anti-adhésives dégradées). Accueil sympathique. Belle piscine mais très fréquentée l'après midi avec nombre insuffisant de transats. Au demeurant, nous avons passé un excellent séjour car l'ensemble était de bon niveau.

Wir kannten das Castello schon aus früheren Jahren und fanden es unverändert schön. Der Pool ist gut gepflegt wie alles. Wir hatten ein App. außerhalb des Schlosses, aber mit wunderschöner Aussicht auf die toskanische Landschaft, so dass wir es jederzeit wieder buchen würden. Sowohl die Jugendlichen (3) als auch wir waren sehr zufrieden. Besonders angenehm ist, dass ein Bus praktisch von vor dem Haus (oder manche auch vom nächsten Ort, ca. 1 km) nach Florenz fährt, so dass man sich die nervige und teure Parkplatzsuche dort sparen kann. Das Personal war durchgehend sehr nett und zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.

I thought the entire experience was great. The castle was more beautiful than I thought it would be, and the location was perfect. Our apartment was great and just as it was described. We would definitely use Easy Reserve again and would stay at the castle again. The only suggestion I would have would be to give extra towels to the apartments and warn about the mosquitos in the summer.

Castle Montegufoni was outstanding. Some of the pluses: - beautiful property with stunning hill-top views of the Tuscan countryside, without having to drive treacherous switch-back roads to get there (such roads are a-plenty in Tuscany). - nice pool and well-kept, lovely grounds - great location: 30 minute drive to Florence; 45 minute drive to San Gimignano; 60 minute drive to Pisa - spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean villa - friendly, accomodating staff (I was encouraged to use the castle's computer for as long as I needed to book a side-trip to Venice, and they bent over backwards to take care of me when I needed some very minor first aid.) - access to a modern washing machine that works well - excellent price for what you get I suggest staying in one of the villas apart from the main castle, as we did (our villa was no. 32). These villas are probably quieter, and you can drive right up to them to unload your suitcases, thereby avoiding the steep walk up the gravel hill with luggage. The only less-than stellar aspect was the meal at the Castle's restaurant. It was good value: 24 euro for five courses. And you can't beat the ambience or the pleasure of enjoying the fine castle wine knowing that it's just a few steps to your villa. But we had better food elsewhere. I still think it's worth eating there one evening for the experience. For better food, I recommend: Il Virginio in Anselmo, about 4 km from the castle. Another good restaurant is at the end of Baccaiano. It's on the left side, near a large parking lot that looks like a park and ride. There's also a hotel there. If you start up the hill to Montespertoli, you've gone too far.
