Chalet Suay is a gorgeous 18th Century farmhouse in Servoz near Chamonix
Chalet le Suay is a traditional 18th century Savoyard demi-farmhouse in the sunny village of Servoz which has been fully renovated to a high standard, retaining period features while benefiting from modern fixtures and fittings. It is well equipped, along with having TV, Apple TV, music and wi-fi.
The main chalet has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is set over the first and second floors. It sleeps 8 comfortably but with children it could sleep up to 10 although this would be pretty crowded!
The entrance hall leads to an imposing open plan living room with original restored beams, a ceiling-hung stove, access to a balcony and underfloor heating. The kitchen is an Italian design with concrete worktops. There is a guest room with a small double mezzanine sleeping deck and a single/truckle bed below - at a push you could fit two adults on the mezzanine and two children below in this room. Also on this floor is a WC and a double bedroom with ensuite shower room.
The second floor has two large bedrooms, the master bedroom with views across the valley and the children's bedroom which sleeps up to four, along with a superb bathroom with an Italian shower and a freestanding bath. The upstairs rooms have some low beams and steep stairs to access. There is a stair gate for children.
The property is set in land and fields and is five minutes from the skiing in les Houches, and fifteen minutes from Chamonix town centre from where it is a short drive to the other main ski areas of Chamonix.

We had booked before, but had to cancel due to COVID lockdown. Very happy we could book again this year. Excellent place, close to the great mountains but in a quiet neighborhood. Can certainly recommend!
Location for us was perfect - out of the way of the ski resorts so the price is excellent but with easy access to the resorts as long as you have a car - finding the property and parking was easy but there is a little bit of a walk up a hill to the chalet and steep stairs to got up to the chalet - be aware of this if you have any mobility issues
The chalet is huge yet cosy - it’s an old property so don’t expect clean lines, the deco and finishing match the style and are bringing to show signs of wear, which for us was great as it meant we were not stepping in egg shells worrying about the furnishings, it meant we could relax and enjoy this great place
The steps upto the bedrooms are steep but there is a double room in the main floor so for those with mobility issues there is a room for you
The door height upstairs you will get used to one you have banged your head a few times
The property was well equipped with plenty of hot water (do watch as it is very hot) and the fire is great but you will only use it the once as it heats up the chalet really well
The main bedroom upstairs doesn’t have blinds so take an eye mask if you are affected by light
We had a great time in this chalet - it’s huge with plenty of space for everyone
Highly recommended
We fell in love with this gorgeous property. So Beautiful inside, could not recommend this property anymore. We did a walk up the mountain directly outside and 30 minutes up is an incredible restaraunt with views to die for, with a rustic playground,.The property is situated in a nice quite area, we hope we will be able to return again.
A spacious home that would be a great escape for a large family or group of friends.

Beautiful views and lovely appartment.
The challet is a few minutes from the village, lucky no snow in the village!
The appartment was as per the pictures, great views and plenty if space.
I really liked the Emma Bridgewater crockery!
The fire proved tricky to light but once going very hot and kept us toasty!!
All essentials there for cooking which was great.
The walkthrough bathroom was fine but door stiff and unable to shut...2 splinters later we discovered this!
We parked as suggested at bottom of hill as took 10 point turn to try and reverse around the corner. This was no issue at all though.
We had 1 drain blocking issue which was fully resolved the next day.
I would recommend the chalet to others and wouldn't hesitate returning again.

Lovely chalet perfect location
This is a great chalet. It's beautifully decorated clean and well kitted out. The upstairs bedrooms are large the stairs are a little tight and the second bedroom is accessed through the bathroom but these things are overridden by the good design and spaciousness. Downstairs the lounge and living area is really spacious with great views and two smaller bedrooms which meant it was perfect for my whole family. It's located in a small quiet Hamlet with a little bit of balcony space and plenty of outdoor space by a stream, footpaths and Woodlands. Wonderful chalet and highly recommended.

perfect location and big enough for 5 adults - 1 couple, 3 singles
15 mins to chamonix but far enough away to enjoy a quiet village. local restaurants good and bread and pastries from local shop from 7.45am.Cafe in village too. The apartment is wonderful inside with views to die for. Loads of space and beautifully done. Brilliant location for walking and cycling and places like Annecy and Geneva are close enough for day trips. Excellent all round.

Perfect view
My sister, husband, and I spent 5 days at Chalet Suay. We were greeted by Flo, the caretaker. She explained the house and gave us thoughts on places to dine. The chalet is connected to two other units. There is a lower unit which has a door right at the steps to the chalet and the front of the building has a unit as well. We enjoyed the proximity the chalet had to a river, hiking trails, and there is a bus stop at the end of the driveway. We did have a few hiccups with the chalet but none were too taxing. We contacted Flo each time and she was quick to respond. We appreciated having her contact information and she was quite a delight. The chalet has a wonderful view of Mont Blanc and the sunsets on the side of the mountain were glorious. There is a small parking lot down the long shared driveway. We drove up to the chalet door only once, it was very hard to back out of the driveway which is shared with the lower unit. We decided the walk up the hill was worth the safety of the rental car. There is a fantastic river running beside the chalet and we enjoyed listening to it at night. Right across the river walkway, out the main door, is a trail. We took the trail up to a chalet and enjoyed fondue overlooking the valley. We are from Florida so this hike was an intense walk UP! You will see many hikers passing by the chalet on their way to a trail or from the trail. There is a very small grocery store in town (can be closed at odd times) and a larger one is Passey. You could reach the chalet using the train/bus, however, I would highly recommend a car. The drive to Chamonix was lovely, but it was nice to get out of the busy town and back to our lovely chalet after a day of hiking. Be warned though, if you are using the upstairs main bedroom you must duck low to get through the gate door. I am 5'3" and my husband is 6'7", of course he had to duck often, including in the kitchen from the lowered lights. However, I had to duck a good deal to get into the bedroom from the bathroom. After a few times knocking your head, you'll learn how low to duck! Worth all the bumps to enjoy such a lovely place! Thank you Tom for sharing Chalet Suay with us, we enjoyed our stay!
