Dramatic View of Cape Cod Bay from both floors

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,700 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms(all queen size beds), 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

Contemporary family home with wonderful views of Cape Cod Bay and Great Hollow. Very short walk to National Seashore hiking trails. Short bike (or hike) to Long Nook beach, Great Hollow Beach, Coast Guard Beach. Great bayviews from either upstairs or downstairs. (Every night the sunset sky is different, but always beautiful). Fireplace in LR, firewood provided. A nice family home, furnished with mix of new and antique furniture. Wireless Internet,. Washer/dryer. State-of-the-Art home entertainment system, large HDTV with theater surround-sound, 3 zone RF control for stereo system (main floor, top floor and deck), living room, family room, professional keyboard, chlorine-free hot tub, antiques, dishwasher, microwave, convection oven, , all kitchen tools/implements, large gas grill, portable cooler, Hammock surrounded by woods. 3 BR's (3 queens, quality mattresses) beds. Many board games and books for evening fun. Plenty of parking (room for cars and boat trailers)

National Seashore: Most of Truro is comprised of the National Seashore. This federal park extends beyond Truro in both directions. Over 4,300 in acres, it has miles and miles of hiking trails, dirt roads and amazing sand dunes up to 100 feet tall overlooking pristine beaches. There is an entry trail just down the road from the house.

Take a hike (or short drive) up to the 'abandoned' Truro Air Force Station, with its 'ghost town' feel in the neighborhood of deserted officer housing, overgrown baseball field, rusty playground, etc. Take the short and easy walk to the 100 foot sand dune over looking the ocean. It's an amazing place that everyone enjoys seeing.

The trails can also be used to access many of the beaches, although most our guests prefer to get a weekly town beach permit and drive the short distance to each beach. Get another permit to have an evening bonfire on the beach (firewood available at the house)

Bayside beaches: The sunset picture on the main page of our listing is looking across the bay. On a clear day or crisp night you can see clear across Cape Cod Bay to Plymouth and the Sagamore Bridge! Where the distant hill in that photo 'dips' is the 'hollow' in 'Great Hollow Beach', less than a 2-mile walk (or very short drive). A great place to go to picnic while watching the sunset. Just as close in the other direction are the beaches on the ocean-side...Long Nook, Coast Guard, Head of the Meadow, all with 60 to 100 ft. sand dunes. The skies at dusk and dawn are usually fused with awesome light and color...the stuff that has drawn artists to the outer cape for generations. Last season we saw nearly 70 seals basking on a sandbar in the early morning.

Just down the road from the house is a local farm market, a fresh seafood store, and a new place with home-made ice cream, stone-fired pizzas, great coffees (espresso, etc.) and free wi-fi (although our house has that, too.)

Equidistant between Provincetown and Wellfleet: Both Wellfleet and Provincetown are about the same distance from the house...about 10 minutes (or less) by car. Wellfleet is less rural than Truro, with a small downtown and some great family seafood restaurants.

Provincetown is where the days and nights are alive with throngs of visitors and locals. There are many shops and excellent restaurants, a very active theater community, rentals for boats, kayaks and bikes. The art gallery scene in 'P'town' goes back generations and the studios are well known throughout the art world. Several venues have live music of different types. And, of course, there are the famous dance clubs and other bars.

For kids, there are whale watches, fishing, and the trip up Pilgrim Monument, the tallest granite structure in America. Dedicated by T.R. Roosevelt, this year it's 103 years old. There's the Trolley tour, the Provincetown Ghost Tour, the famous Whale Watch cruises (if you haven't done this you should !)

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thanks!" for a great end-of-summer vacation. We all loved your house. The hot tub was a huge hit with grownups and kids alike, and we really loved the view. Lots of time spent on the deck just gazing out across the bay, then stargazing at night. ...We're all fantasizing about moving to Truro now.

Everything we needed and more, this house offered the perfect space to celebrate our 18th year vacation on the cape as we prepare to send our son off to college. He and his best friend had all the privacy they needed downstairs while my husband and I enjoyed our own privacy upstairs. When it rained and cooled down unexpectedly we had a fire in the fireplace - the wood was already supplied. The boys enjoyed the firepit at night and the hot tub was sublime, located in a beautiful private spot opposite a tree with a bird house. We so enjoyed watching the activity around it as we relaxed. The house is situated on a private hill overlooking Truro. The pictures cannot do the view of the bay justice. Close to ocean beaches and the best bay beach in my view; Corn Hill (best sunsets ever). Great proximity to lively P-town, a real plus. We had all the comforts of home and much more. Lovely owner, kind and happy to answer our questions. We highly recommend this home!

A peaceful, family get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleasantly surprised by this beautiful home. The home was stocked with all we needed to cook and dine together as a family--with the ability to eat either inside or out. We shared wonderful evening s'mores fires by the fire pit with our granddaughter , and during the day we were so close to the wonderful beaches with seals and a whale watch nine miles away. The hot tub was a fun evening activity while we star gazed. The sunsets were amazing. The decor is perfect Cape Cod tradition with unique art work and furniture pieces. The grounds are beautiful. We would highly recommend this lovely home away from home. Kevin is so easy to have immediate contact with and has a terrific sense of humor, to boot!

This house is a wonderful property! The views are amazing and the rest was very clean and comfortab

We JOKED that the ONLY thing to complain about was toilet paper being too thin. This was a wonderful property and very close to Provincetown. The owner, Kevin was an absolute gem! Very personable and Johnny on the spot when we did not have hot water one morning. It was fixed by the time we finished sightseeing that day! The kitchen is well stocked with almost anything you could need and the hot tub was such a BIG plus!!!! I highly recommend this property when in Cape Cod. Tell Kevin I sent you ;)

Lovely property in a truly perfect Cape location

  • 5 of 5

Our two young families had a truly memorable week stay at Kevin's place, spending the mornings at the various stunning nearby beaches (Ballston, Head of the Meadow were particularly amazing), lunching in Wellfleet, Truro and P-Town, and cooking in (fully kitted kitchen and grill) most evenings... enjoying the beautiful sunset and views from the deck. Only pleasant surprises here, based on the accurate listing.

The upside-down layout of the house is brilliant, with the kitchen, dining room, sitting room and deck all upstairs to take advantage of the light and views. Hot tub was a nice bonus. Very handy having Savory's (bakery/pizza), delicious ice cream, seafood market and liquor store just down the road, as well. I actually walked down there one day, trying to trick my toddler into falling asleep in the stroller.

We'll be back!

Perfect House in our favorite part of the Cape

  • 5 of 5

We have been enjoying autumn trips to the Cape for the past several years. And this by far is the best house that we have rented. It was so nice to have Kevin, the homeowner, meet us personally and show us around his beautiful home, rather than stopping at some generic real estate office with a key to the door. This home is something that we truly enjoyed and appreciated. Views of the Bay, yet easy access to the trail system that leads you by foot or by bike to the ocean. We both hiked and took our bikes out from the house to many adventures. Close proximity to P-town and an amazing seafood market just at the bottom of the hill from the house. Wellfleet is not that far either. Highlands Golf Course is just up the road, one of the original true links courses in the US. This home is situated in a quiet community, we look forward to staying here again.

On one of the higher hills in Truro, equidistant between the bay-side and the ocean-side. A 30 mile view over Great Hollow, looking across the bay to Sagamore and Plymouth. The National Seashore hiking trails can be accessed down the road. Great also for biking. Truro is the most rural town on the Cape, but is a short drive from Provincetown, a well-known resort with art galleries, many restaurants, whale watches, charter fishing boats, nightclubs, film festivals, theater, etc. At the end of the day, return to Truro. Have a cocktail watching the sky turn colors over Cape Cod Bay. Relax in the outdoor hot tub (chemical free, ozone-based, producing oxygen bubbles not chlorine foam!). Watch dozens of seals play in the water at Truro beaches.... Have a beach bonfire at night (permit required, easy to get).

Other Activities: Winter cross country skiing on National Seashore Trails. Near art galleries, shops, restaurants, museums, theaters and galleries of P'town.

Golf: Truro Public Golf Course nearby. Great ocean views, a fun course near the Truro Lighthouse.
