Guestbook comments from the owner

Was on-site at guest arrival. Guest mentioned three times in 10 minutes 'You have a beautiful home here!' Further emailed comments:

We truly enjoyed the Lodge of the Rockies. It was just what our family needed. We had not all been together for 3 years, and the lodge provided so much space. Each family unit had a space of their own, as well as shared room to hangout together. Thanks for having it so well stocked! We loved all your little signs with instructions. We really could not have asked for anything except that we should have brought a pack & play for our littlest grandson. At 4 months he is almost 20 pounds and too big for the bassinet you provide on site.

Blessings, and may many, many more people enjoy your beautiful home.

Our stay at the Rocky Mountain Lodge was wonderful. Having so much space helped our family.

  • 5 of 5

We truly appreciated all the amenities of the Lodge. Chris was a great host and happened to be present at our arrival. We wished for a pack and play or crib since our 4 month old was a tight squeeze for the cradle. Lots of games and activities. The beds were comfortable. Lots of linens and towels. Kitchen is well equipped. Because of dietary needs we cooked every meal and it was nice having the kitchen open to the living area. We enjoyed the downstairs fireplace several times.

Perfect for large groups

  • 5 of 5

This home was beautiful and large. Nicely stocked with plenty of blankets, towels and plenty of space for everyone to relax. The kitchen is stocked well with cookery and spices. We cooked a ton of food and bbq once. Had a giant table to hold 10, we had 8 but plenty of room. Bonus room with an extra kitchen upstairs with fridge. We had a great time playing Foosball and board games. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice and spacious. This home is about 14 miles from Buena Vista and the grocery store, mt. Princeton. All in all I would definitely recommend staying here, easy to get to and directions on how to use sound system, WiFi etc. We hope to be staying again this summer, thank you Christopher!

Beautiful Home, Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, spacious, private and cozy yet with room for everyone - the house was wonderful. Definitely will be back again. Well appointed, upgraded amenities, just as described, friendly, RESPONSIVE owner, and an overall A+ experience. Located centrally to many mountain excursions - as a Denver native I can assure you, you won't be let down.

Large Spacious Home In The Country!

  • 4 of 5

This Rocky Mountain remote home is located just off US24 near Hartsel. The home is located about 2 miles off US24 and be prepared to drive slow on the maintained dirt roads to the home. While the location of this home served us just fine we found that it felt a little further than we originally had planned on being. Keep in mind where the traveling to sights around Colorado it will take you longer due to mountain roads. Our main purpose for spending two weeks in Colorado was so my Husband and his buddy could off road dirt bike. We had 2 families- 4 adults and 5 kids. 1-10 yr old, 1-15 yr old, 2-16 yr olds, & 1-18 yr old. One thing I would have liked prior to arrival was exactly how the home was laid out. If you are looking for a HUGE home to accommodate you then stay here. The main floor has a formal dining room, living room, kitchen, den (tv room), laundry room, Master bedroom, TV & a jack n jill bathroom. The upper level has a loft area with tv, sofas & sitting areas as well as a full size bed tucked in the corner, 2nd bedroom with king bed with a small balcony, 3rd bedroom with queen size bed, 2nd full size bath, and a Mother in Law Suite featuring a Full Bath and an open area with dinning area, living area with sofa, chairs & TV, kitchen, and a full size bed tucked in the corner. The fuse ball table was used nightly too. Playstation only had on remote controller. Plenty of space & things to keep you busy. Internet was a bit frustrating. It didn't work very good & we think it's because the router is located in the MIL Suite. Maybe an updated router & a booster would help. I was able to get AT&T cell service on occasion. The home is overloaded, packed full of stuff including the garage. Pictures on every inch of every wall, knickknacks, wreaths, etc. Lots of stuff. Lots of dust as there is no way you can dust that many items on a regular basis. Again it didn't effect us really & we kind of got used to it. One thing to keep in mind- you'll probably find a mouse in the house. He does provide lots of traps just in case. We caught one in the kitchen. We hiked up the back side of the mountain on the HOA trail. Views were really cool. We heard a mountain lion 2 nights in a row. We presume it was a female screaming (mating call). It was crazy! Deer, rabbits, cows all right the front door. There is a new home being built next to this house. You could hear the noise but they didn't start too early thankfully. Overall we were satisfied with our stay.

Owner's Response: We take every opportunity to enhance value & bring quality for guests at a great market rate. We maybe try too hard too often–yet it all pays off for guests. We worked hard to return your prescription glasses. A bike rider found them on road & reported on bulletin board. Bike rider made us aware of new rental a mile away he stayed at. Rare similar size to LOTR LLC. They charge ~40% MORE per night! For your stay you saved roughly $1,100 staying at LOTR LLC!! & outfitted at higher quality level too! (fixtures, décor, etc.). Your smart shopping and our great market pricing. We have impressive architecture that excels even w/ trophy homes found in area and adjacent counties. Yes more space here–as advertised. Most other spaces – about 1,000 square feet or so–cost extra $150,000+/- to build. Yet we offer similar rates to homes here with ~50% less space. Well enjoyed too (many guest reviews). The group just after yours was on their seventh stay in four years! Same week we received third holiday booking from Europeans who love lodge. They love value and quality here. Maybe you can join this group of dedicated repeat customers. Many more too. You mentioned layout. We received a $504,000 appraisal even before we began interior. Recognized value here – we supply at highly competitive rate. Few places even compare on design, features, quality, accoutrements, price. Comparatively we deliver much more quality space for much less of a rate–a great relaxing base camp. We keep fire extinguishers, seasonals, insect/rodent/deer repellents on hand for rare instances if ever needed. We do not tolerate for a second any of them. . Early on as Colorado resident we were told mountain lions have ~300-mile 30-day territory. Rarely stay same place. Maybe you heard bobcats. They are ~20 pounds.. We dust w/every prep. We cycle clean during off-season. 99.8% of amenities inside home are for guest use!! Stocked for guest ready comfort. Scenic, level dirt roads here highly maintained. We offer refuge, respite, great majestic views and setting, not crowds & commotions. We celebrate Western Heritage decor using European 'Salon Style' model (we go way beyond shallow toilet paper & towels only others offer). Kindred spirits - Ralph Lauren, Four Seasons, Disney do the same. Thank you for visiting & 4/5 rating. We are glad you enjoyed lodge as much as you did. We mostly receive five stars. We take your suggestions & endeavor to make lodge better than ever.
