Charming traditional town house in the heart of Marseillan

The house:
The house is a charming traditional town house situated in one of the characteristic medieval narrow streets two minute walk from the town centre.
The ground floor is a comfortable open-plan lounge/kitchen dining area with a double sofa, table and four dining chairs, TV, radio and air conditioning/heating. WiFi available. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a four hub gas cooker/oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, coffee maker and fully stocked cupboards with dishes, cookware and utensils. The house features a beautiful traditional spiral staircase which leads up to the spacious master bedroom. The master bedroom features a double bed, built in floor to ceiling double wardrobe, bed side tables and air conditioning/heating. The bathroom (accessible from the main bedroom) is fitted with a shower, WC and basin. The staircase leads up to a private sunny roof-top terrace situated on the second floor which is equipped with a sink, table, chairs, loungers and outside light.
Suitability: Wheelchair inaccessible, pets considered.
The Town and Area
The central position of this “maison de village” means ‘all the village has to offer’, including a choice of more than 20 restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, boulangeries, a Carrefour supermarket and, just a short stroll away, is the beautiful Marseillan port, a protected heritage site.
Marseillan town sits on a large lagoon, the Etang de Thau, and is the southern entreport for the Canal du Midi. The town is well known for its wine makers and shellfish farms. The Languedoc is a world renowned wine producing area and Marseillan is the home of one of the most famous, Noilly Prat. Many caves and châteaux have their vine yards in the surrounding countryside close to the town.
Markets: Marseillan has a weekly Tuesday market. It is a traditional open air market buzzing with life with a huge variety of stalls selling books, clothing, jewellery and household items. There is also an indoor market selling a range of local produce including cheeses, fresh fish, olives, fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices. Every Saturday there is the charming brocante (antiques and flea market) market selling all sorts of vintage treasures and collectables.
Beaches
There is a small local beach on the edge of the lagoon which features a wind sports centre, children’s playground, basketball court and bbq area. Just 10 minutes drive (5km) away is Marseillan Plage, a seaside resort, which also includes a 6km stretch of beautiful sandy beaches. There is also a regular bus connection between Marseillan Village and Marseillan Plage.

Parking: free parking is available on the surrounding wider streets and there is also a free car park close to the port approximately four/five minute walk from the house.

Summertime in Marseillan

We really enjoyed staying in this charming house in the old town of Marseillan. Its location is ideal, with shops, the market, the harbour and the sea all within easy reach. The old town exudes Mediterranean charm far more effectively than the tourist-crowded places right by the sea.We particularly enjoyed having breakfast and spending the evenings on the roof terrace.We liked it so much that we have already rebooked for next year.

Wonderful stay in Marseillan

This pretty town house is perfectly situated - we enjoyed walking to the pretty port of Marseillan and exploring the local area around the Etang de Thau. The roof terrace is a lovely spot to have breakfast. Everything we needed was provided - and the welcome bottle of wine was much appreciated.

Been to this town before and enjoyed it so much that we returned for a third time. If you like shellfish/oysters,&c. you must go!!! The house was spotless and plenty large enough for two. Good facilities and very comfortable. Can thoroughly recommend. You won't regret it.

Wonderful

Such a lovely house in a great location in the centre of beautiful Marseillan. A two minute walk from shops and restaurants. Five minutes to the lovely port. The roof terrace is a gem with plenty of room and it gets the evening sun for drinks when you get back from your days adventures. Lovely big rooms, a great shower with plenty of power and good air conditioning, Easy booking and arrival process and great communications with the lovely hosts. We certainly hope to return.

The house is in a little back street with a roof terrace, very comfortable with everything you need, little touches like a shaving mirror which is very useful but not usually found in holiday homes! Nice to have a spacious bedroom with lots of storage. We were welcomed by a neighbour who gave us a lovely lemon cake. We were able to drive in to load and unload but if you have a large car you might find this difficult. Perfect for a couple.

Authentic home. Spent a lot of time biking and on the beach. Relaxed at Marine Hotel. Restaurant food was very ordinary. Restaurants didn’t open until 7pm and mostly weren’t suitable for children unless you like pizza. It was our second visit and so we knew what to expect.

Super little house in good quiet location

The house was charming; very clean, well equipped and had a super comfy bed! Lovely new towels, tea towels and bed linen. The shutters kept the heat and light out of the bedroom at night, so we slept very well. The roof terrace was great, although the stairs were a bit perilous, to be navigated with care, and there wasn’t much of a view. It was lovely for a glass of wine at night or lunch in the shade. Lots of restaurants to choose from, and super bakery and deli close by, in walking distance, as well as a large supermarket a few minutes drive away. It’s handy for walks by the lagoon, the Canal du Midi, beaches at Marseillan Plage, and even a trip to the Camargue. Great house for two people.

Wir haben 10 sonnige Herbsttage in Marseillan verbracht. Das Haus von Enzo und Katherine liegt in den engen Altstadtgassen und ist ideal für 2 Personen, die abseits von Massentourismus Urlaub machen wollen. Schöne Bodenfliesen und das bequeme Bett haben uns gefallen. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, mit Gas- und Elektroherd, Backofen und Mikrowelle. Es gibt auch eine Waschmaschine, die wir jedoch nicht gebraucht haben. Alles war blitzblank sauber. Das Highlight ist - wie schon oft beschrieben - die Dachterrasse, die wir jeden Abend genutzt haben. Morgens war es zu dieser Jahreszeit noch etwas zu frisch. Das Treppenhaus ist ziemlich eng, die Stufen steil, für uns kein Problem. Ein gut sortierter Spar-Laden war in Laufnähe, ansonsten gibt es auch am Ortsrand einen großen Carrefour Supermarkt. Die vorab von Enzo geschickte Beschreibung zum Haus war sehr hilfreich, insbesondere zur Anfahrt. Auch im Haus fanden sich Karten und Tipps. Alles hat gut geklappt, so dass wir Enzo auch gar nicht während unseres Aufenthaltes kontaktieren brauchten. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit in diesem besonderen Haus.

Gemütlicher Sommerurlaub

Als erfahrene Marseillan-Ville-Urlauber wussten wir natürlich, was uns erwartet. Man muss es mögen und wir mögen es und nehnmen Glockengeläut, Müllabfuhr und Straßenreinigung (gerne schon mal um 5 Uhr morgens) aber auch Renovierungsarbeiten in den Nachbarhäusern in Kauf. Dafür bedankt sich die quirlige Altstadt mit seinem typischen, mediterranen Flair. Das Ferienhaus mit seiner genialen Dachterrasse ist sauber und gepflegt, die Küchenmöbel incl. Inventar sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen und riechen etwas muffig. Hier könnte nachgebessert werden.

Eine zauberhafte Auszeit

Das Haus liegt in der pittoresken Altstadt und ist sehr typisch und dabei rundum bestens ausgestattet. Wir haben die Zeit genossen und uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Die Dachterrasse ist wunderbar und garantiert schöne Stunden. Check-in und Check-out absolut unkompliziert und die Kommunikation mit Enzo unkompliziert und sehr nett. Dieses Haus ist einfach zauberhaft und wir kommen gerne wieder.

Eine wunderschöne Woche

Wir haben uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt in dem Haus! Ganz bezaubernd und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, eine tolle Terrasse, super bequeme Betten, es war wirklich an alles gedacht, bis hin zum Bügeleisen! Ein toller Ort, perfekt für einen tollen Urlaub! Très bon séjour

Petite maison de ville au calme et très bien située dans le centre-ville à proximités des commerces et des halles. Nous avons profité de la terrasse le matin pour le petit déjeuner car son accès au dernier étage n'est pas facile (dernières marches assez hautes) et pas de possibilité de cuisiner en haut. Idéal pour deux personnes.

1 Woche pure Entspannung!

Liebevoll renovierter Altbau in guter, ruhiger Lage mit toller Ausstattung, die keine Wünsche offen lassen sollte. Die Treppen im Haus sind etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Insgesamt haben wir uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt und bei bestem Wetter gut erholt. Sehr weitläufiger Strand nur wenige Kilometer entfernt, vielfältige Unterhaltungs- und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe.

Séjour dans village typique du Languedoc

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans ce typique village de Marseillan. La maison est très agréable au centre du village avec une belle terrasse. La plage entre Marseillan et Sete est grande, il y a beaucoup de place et on peut y aller avec son chien à l entrée Vassal. Nous vous recommandons cette région et ce logement.

ideales kleines Stadthaus

Das Stadthaus eignet sich ideal für 2 Personen. Diese sollten allerdings mobil sein, da hier die oberen 2 Etagen über eine steile enge Treppe verbunden sind. Die Einrichtung war perfekt für unseren Urlaub. Der Vermieter Enzo war bei Fragen wegen einer kleinen Reparatur ständig zu erreichen und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir würden jederzeit gern wiederkommen.

Ideal für zwei Personen

Marseillan Ville ist genau der richtige Urlaubsort für uns. Das wissen wir schon seit 2009, als wir unseren ersten Urlaubsaufenthalt dort genossen. Auch in diesem Jahr haben wir uns ein schönes Ferienhaus in den verwinkelten Gassen der historischen Altstadt ausgesucht. Da wir zum ersten Mal ohne Kinder unterwegs waren, haben wir bei der Suchanfrage zwei Personen angegeben und sind auf dieses Objekt (Für bis zu 3 Personen gestoßen) Für die dritte Person steht lediglich ein Klappsofa im Wohn-Ess-Kochbereich zur Verfügung. Das muß man wissen, wenn man das Objekt tatsächlich zu dritt mieten möchte. Im Vorfeld waren wir wegen der fehlenden Bilder der Sanitäreinrichtungen etwas besorgt, trafen vor Ort allerdings ein Bad mit Dusche und WC an, was unsere Sorgen als unbegründet erscheinen lies. Hier sollte die Agentur die Internetanzeige vielleicht nachbessern. Das fehlende Sternchen bei Sauberkeit entspricht lediglich der Tatsache, dass hier und da eine Stelle war wo man mit einem feuchten Lappen nochmal drüber hätte wischen müssen aber die Gesamtsauberkeit war schon in Ordnung. Für die Agentur gibt es den Punktabzug wegen allzu penetranter Zahlungsaufforderung. Wir haben die Buchung an einem Samstagnachmittag (war auch noch Monatsende) und die Zahlung über unser Kreditinstitut in Auftrag gegeben, das dies am darauffolgenden Montag auch erledigt hat. Dazwischen lagen zahlreiche " wir erinnern Sie...bitte sofort.....möglichst heute noch.....letzte Möglichkeit sonst ist die Buchung storniert.....usw." Mails, was einem das Wochenende schon verderben kann! Mit Herrn Ascenzi, dem Eigentümer haben wir sehr angenehmen e-mail Kontakt gepflegt und können Ihn und sein schönes Ferienhaus guten Gewissens weiter empfehlen. Birgit und Armin

I am an Italian Veterinary Surgeon working in Northern Ireland. Born and bred Italian, and I worked on small animals in Italy for a short time before moving to Kenya (Amboseli National Park) where I deepened my knowledge on behaviour of African wildlife, especially wild cats and elephants. I then moved to England where I worked for the Department of Agriculture before making my last move to Northern Ireland were I also work for the Department of Agriculture. Here I met my partner Katherine who is Irish and she introduced me to the Languedoc a few years ago. Since then I never looked back and last year we decided to buy a property there. I love the local culture, that reminds me a lot about Italy, and attitude. I love the food, the wines and, most of all, the lifestyle.

Why they chose this property

The house is really charming and traditional. We loved it from the first viewing and we are very happy about it. It is located in one of the traditional narrow streets which are characteristic of the old Marseillan town centre. Our plan is to keep it as traditional as possible, avoiding excess of modernity.
