The Casa dos Bicos is an ecological root house, built in mud, with natural features that preserve cool in summer and comfortable in winter. The construction of the house is in line with local resources, pressed land, a typical Alentejo building.
The House of nozzles seeks to be self-sustaining and self-sufficient, with use of natural resources for energy production through solar panels to generate electricity and provide hot water. In addition, it promotes recycling to reduce pollution, and ecological footprint, minimizing environmental impact, so if you started to recover the antique furniture which in turn also promotes the story of a family Alentejo.
The single storey house, has 2 bedrooms with a typical Alentejo decoration and a bathroom, it is carefully restored original furniture. In the living room, above the wood stove in the family, are on display some of the old utensils grandparents (which besides agriculture, dedicated themselves to beekeeping and local market).
The living room features a sofa bed, modern and comfortable chairs to join the traditional chairs by the fireplace for cold days in the lower Alentejo. The new kitchen is fully equipped and has all the necessary appliances for a few days well spent vacation (dishwasher, clothes, fridge, oven, ceramic hob, toaster, coffee machine, grinder etc ...).
Outside, you can enjoy rest and make your barbecue, the plot of 1000 m2 has a rural surroundings overlooking the countryside and the eucalyptus. Breathes fresh air and the stars at night fill the skies of the Alentejo with an unforgettable beauty.
The Casa dos Bicos is located near the store honey. Certified products are sold there, from the honey, pollen, royal jelly, candles and other regional products.
In addition to the visit to the House of Honey, we suggest biking, hiking in the locality and other places of high landscape and ecological value, the Costa Vicentina, the site let pedestrians and cultural tours for visitors. The house is 20 minutes from the beach areas of Costa Vicentina.
