Ski in Log Chalet w/Antique Furnishings! Fun for Family! Books 1 yr in advance~

Bedrooms 5
Space 3,700 sq ft
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Cabin, 5 Bedrooms + Loft, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 13)

The Lodge at Fernie is a 3700 square foot custom built log chalet nestled in the Canadian Rockies at Fernie Alpine Resort. The house exudes warmth and is a perfect place for families - from grandparents down to infants. Two living areas allow for the noise of children to be somewhat separated from the visiting adults.

Built of spruce logs in the Swedish style of log building, the complexity of the architecture is visible from the entry. Massive log beams, hardwood floors, antique furnishings and cozy fireplaces combine with breathtaking views to create a rare combination of wilderness and comfort.

The lodge is within walking distance to ski lifts, bike trails, the Elk River and restaurants. The 80 foot deck accommodates an 8 person hot tub, a stainless steel gas BBQ, a 12 foot picnic table, plus patio tables. Steps from the deck lead to an outdoor fire pit surrounded by log benches and to a bridge crossing the small stream that meanders through the property. Moose and deer are occasionally seen from the back yard.

Why Carol Roth chose Fernie

We had the lodge built for ourselves in 1990/91. We love log homes so the decision to build log was easy. This was the same time that we became interested in antiques. Furnishing the lodge was fun!

What makes this chalet unique

Skiing in the winter was what attracted us to the area. However, we find that we enjoy the summer as much as the winters. Hiking, golfing, mountain biking, huckleberry picking, playing on the river, fishing......There are so many options for activities.

We loved The Lodge at Fernie. It is beautiful and has everything you need! Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time here and it was perfect for our family gathering. We were a three generation group and everyone loved staying here. The home is well appointed with everything we could possibly have needed for our stay. Full of character, this log home has beautiful antiques and you immediately feel at home. We enjoyed the many areas to gather and socialize, large dining area, kids table (perfect for eating and their crafts!), huge deck and hot tub, separate upper tv area, very comfortable beds, and the huge kitchen was a pleasure to cook in.

All sorts of extras that are wonderful for a group: extra fridge in garage, 2 ovens, lots of extra chairs/seating. The views are also exceptional!

Carol was also great to book with!

Owner's Response: Intergenerational family groups are our favorite......perhaps because that is how our own family uses the lodge. The furnishing of the lodge was done with both ease of food preparation and the accommodation of intimate areas within a larger spaces in mind. We love it and so do our guests.

Gorgeous, comfortable space

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time, meeting new family members and celebrating the marriage of my daughter in the Lodge at Fernie. The space was perfect. There is a nice combination of large common area's and places to get away for some down time. The small children enjoyed the area behind the house and across a stream, where they found a small swing, picnic area and play house. We cooked several large meals and found the kitchen well stocked with large pots and pans and space for many to support those cook. The decor is simple and beautiful, with interesting antiques. We recommend this place and hope to be back another time.

Awesome place to stay for ten guys for a week of skiing at Fernie!

  • 5 of 5

There are lots of washrooms in the house. A great open layout on the main floor. Great alpine charm. Very comfortable. Nice large kitchen. We didn't do a lot at the house except eat and sleep, getting ready for another day of skiing! A great facility.

Owner's Response: A log house nestled in the Rocky Mountains, antique and period furniture, a fireplace, leather couches........ I agree. The atmosphere is one of alpine charm! What our own family appreciates is that the lodge has lots of sleeping space as well as spacious living areas. The layout facilitates a feeling of togetherness.

Wonderful cabin, in a wonderful location.

  • 5 of 5

This property was absolutely outstanding, and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Fernie.

It is not near the centre of the resort, but it's very easy ski back and probably at 12 minute walk to the lifts (or a 2 min drive). The kitchen is very functional, beds are comfortable, and the property itself is very cosy. The owner very kindly arranged a midweek clean, which was done to very high standard. I would have absolutely no reservations in recommending this property.

Owner's Response: Our guest is absolutely correct. Our property is not in the middle of the action and this is one of the reasons that we love the location. We are slightly removed from the hubbub of the resort, yet we have excellent access. We especially appreciate this in the summer when windows are open, people stay up later and sound travels. The woman in charge of our cleaning used to work in healthcare and is very conscious of germs and the need for cleanliness. We are fortunate to have her working for us.
