The Lodge at Fernie is a 3700 square foot custom built log chalet nestled in the Canadian Rockies at Fernie Alpine Resort.

The house is built of spruce logs in the Swedish style of log building. The 29 foot ceiling visible from the entry way highlights the complexity of the architecture. Massive log beams, hardwood floors, antique furnishings and cozy fireplaces combine with breathtaking views to create a rare combination of wilderness and comfort.

The lodge is within walking distance to ski lifts, bike trails, the Elk River and restaurants. The 80 foot deck accommodates an 8 person hot tub, a stainless steel gas BBQ, a 12 foot picnic table, plus patio tables. Steps from the deck lead to an outdoor fire pit surrounded by log benches and to a bridge crossing the small stream that meanders through the property. Moose and deer are occasionally seen from the back yard.

Why Carol Roth chose Fernie

We had the lodge built for us in 1990/91. We love log homes so the decision to build log was easy. This was the same time that we became interested in antiques. Furnishing the lodge was fun!

What makes this cabin unique

Skiing in the winter was what attracted us to the area. However, we find that we enjoy the summer as much as the winters. Hiking, golfing, mountain biking, huckleberry picking, playing on the river, fishing......There are so many options for activities.

Excellent venue and location

This was the perfect place for a large group getaway. Lots of space, was very clean and well kept, and had cool decor. Would love to stay there again.

Owner's Response: Our cleaning personnel take great pride in their service - and they do a wonderful job. Our lodge has a great location. It is a ski in lodge, but it is on Timberline Crescent, just a small distance from the noise and activity on the mountain. Thus is it great for non-ski season, as well, for it gives our guests added privacy in the midst of all the options for activity: skiing, mountain biking, fishing, white water rafting, hiking - or relaxing in the spacious living areas in the house or on the deck. In addition to the location, we strive to give our guests the best. Cleanliness, privacy, interesting decor and a well stocked kitchen are what we also look for on vacation.

Charming and beautiful home.

The the experience overall was great! The owners were very accommodating and very helpful. We had a large group and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen has an incredible island and is one of the best stocked kitchens I have seen in a rental! The place is beautifully decorated and charming. Scenic location and very peaceful. The family really enjoyed their stay!

Three years in a row, same place, always a great time!

Great experience. Carol is always accommodating and makes us feel welcome. Tons of hiking, downhill biking, rafting, golfing. This is the best value for the huge size of cabin in the area that I have found. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to book if you're looking.

Carol is a wonderful host and the place is immaculate. The lodge was perfect for our 13 family members. Plenty of space to spread out and 4 bathrooms! Everything we needed for our 5 days was provided. It's obvious others have felt the same way as the place is well cared for, not abused. Thanks, we'll be back Carol.

Fernie Alpine Resort, in the Elk Valley at Fernie, British Columbia, is on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountain Trench. The trench is a chain of individual valleys over 1000 miles long, leaving a scar so distinctive it is visible from outer space. Extending from Flathead Lake, MT to the Liard Plain near the Yukon border, the Trench marks the western boundary of the Rocky Mountains. Nine rivers, including the Fraser and Columbia drain the Trench, most entering and leaving through canyons.
