This new wonderful luxury Cottage is located in Hvalfjordur (Whale Bay), the most beautiful bay in Iceland. It is one of the most pristine bays with beautiful mountain surrounds, with cliffs that drop directly into the bay and some beaches. Only 30 min. drive to Reykjavik so you can enjoy the city live and the icelandic nature at the same time.

The cottage itself boasts two stories. On the first floor are two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has a queen size bed. The Patio has an unspoiled view overlooking the bay, and to the mountains. The third bedroom is located on the second floor and has two big single beds. Also on the second floor is the TV room with lots of DVD´s and TV episodes. There is also a balcony on the second floor with a breathtaking view overlooking the Sea and the Mountains. Nice patio is outside with garden furnitures and Hot tub.

The bay Hvalfjordur has a lot to see and explore. The waterfall Glymur is the highest waterfall in Iceland and is located at the bottom of the bay. Explore historical places and ruins from WW2 or take a leisurely hike along one of the many hiking trails in this breathtaking area.

Excellent sightseeing in the vicinity can easily be done with day trips to the following:

- Reykjavík

- Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir, Þingvellir National Park, Skálholt.

- Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Skógar Waterfall, Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and Glacier, Vik.

- Skaftafell National Park, Jökulsárslón Glacier Lagoon.

- Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar)

- Mt. Hekla

- Blue Lagoon and much more.

We had an excellent time at this waterfront home! We each had our own bed and space for four friends. The views were spectacular from both inside and outside. The hot tub is in a beautiful spot and because the weather was perfect, we were able to watch the aurora borealis every night while soaking. We even saw Aurora borealis tours, bringing their customers to an open area about a mile from the house. It’s in a convenient location, near a cutoff road for the Golden Circle but only 40 minutes from Reykjavík. It’s stocked with everything you need from linens to kitchen wear and as most Icelandic homes, it was heated with geothermal heat in the so we could make it as warm or cool as we wanted. They have a nice deck, barbecue and fire pit so I also bet it’s spectacular in the summer

This home was beautifully and perfectly appointed! They left nothing out! I would stay here again. We had great views of the Northern lights multiple times and the location was great too.

Beautiful property. Was clean and comfortable. Wish the weather had been a little nicer to enjoy the porch. Thankfully we did our first day here. Did see the aurora our last night here and a beautiful sunset as well.

We had a wonderful stay. We were notified 3 days before our stay, Iceland was experiencing a drought, as a result the hot tub was not available. The host offered a complete refund if we wanted to cancel and find alternate lodging. I'm so glad we decided to stay. It was National Women Day when we arrived, the host supplied a lovely card and flowers in honor of this holiday. This home was beyond our expecations. The beds were extremely comfortable. The setting was magical, northern lights on our 1st night. Quite, serene, perfect distance from the Reykjavík. There was not direct access to the beach as the home was on a cliff, but it was just a nice walk to access the beach. There were many games, books, maps and a pair of binoculars, they supplied some fun summer games, Corn Hole, Kubb, croquet. In addition to the 1st floor there was decks upstairs. Even with a full house, you could find a quiet spot for some alone time. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessities. I personally had to adjust to using a electric stove/oven, but that was my issue. Overall, we would love to return and experience it in the summer. Iceland is truly magical.

We had a beautiful stay at the cottage with friends. The scenery is beautiful that you could stay the whole time but it is not too far out of the way to drive to other locations to explore. There is a cleaning list but nothing extensive. It was obvious the people who stayed before us didn’t listen to the rules of not leaving food behind because we did find opened ice cream bars in the freezer when we arrived.

Great holiday in Iceland and a fabulous house to stay in. Well equipped, excellent communications from the owner. Great to have the space to relax and hang out in the hot tub to see the Northern Lights on a cold night!

Lovely house in a perfect location

Private, peaceful, wonderful

We stayed at this home for 5 nights and it was absolutely wonderful. The location is just far enough from Reykjavik and surrounds to feel more private and remote, without feeling too far away from any of it. The views of the fjord and the surrounds is spectacular. The home is even more impressive than the pictures. There is so much more to share about this amqzing house and we highly recommend it to anyone.

Amazing property. Really enjoyed staying there and would definitely recommend and/or stay again if the occasion arose.Yes, it is remote and requires car hire from there to see the sights but it was exactly what we wanted. Using the hot tub overlooking the water with that amazing view! Bucket list items ticked!!

Beautiful waterfront home- perfect location.

This home was perfect, it was right on the inlet and close to glymor and Hvammsik hot springs. The home was clean, bed linens were soft and comfy and everything was great for our stay! Perfect for our family, plenty of room.

Fabulous location

Our second stay in this amazing property and it continues to delight. The views ( weather permitting) are outstanding and it has every creature comfort you could want. The host is very responsive and the whole experience is first class.

Peaceful Retreat

This is an amazing property, even better than in photos. Don't let the distance from Reykjavik deter you -- the drive to and from is breathtaking and if you are seeking a serene getaway then this is it.

Perfect getaway

This property was perfect for my husband and I. We saw the northern lights from the deck 2 out of the 6 nights we stayed. The kitchen was stocked with coffee pods and spices. Figuring out how to regulate the temp in the hot tub took a day, but we learned how long to leave the lid off to acheuve the perfect twmp.

More than expected

The property is beautiful and very well kept. All items you could need for the trip are there. The homeowners respond quickly and their love for the property clearly shows. It by far exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend staying here.

Perfect Accomodation

This property is a dream! The views are incredible, even when it’s cloudy. It’s peaceful and offers the right amount of privacy. Plenty of room for a family of 4. The house had everything we needed for our 4 day stay. Check-in and check-out were simple and the location is easy to find. It’s a great spot to stay to explore this side of Iceland. An easy drive to Reykjavik and beautiful scenic routes to Akranes and other destinations. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our trip!
