This new villa has a breathtaking view of the surrounding volcanoes, golf course, ocean, and sunsets from the lanai. From the spacious living room, to the oversized baths, you are greeted with a tropical feeling of Hawaii the minute you walk in the door. The master suite is equipped with a Cal-king bed, the guest bedroom has two comfortable twin beds that can also be made up as king. For your convenience each bedroom is equipped with a HD flat screen TV/DVD player, cable, broadband and free WiFi internet access. The sectional sofa in the living room has a pull out bed that will sleep two. This spacious room is equipped with a HD flat screen TV with over 200 channels and a Blue Ray/DVD player as well. Phone calls to mainland USA and Canada are included in our telephone service.

The elegant decor is accented with a teak wood carved surfboard table and bed headboard for that surfer look. The gourmet kitchen offers state of the art appliances; both baths and kitchen have granite countertops. The oversized master bath has a large walk-in shower and a separate deep bathtub for soaking.

Though you may want to spend all your time relaxing in the villa or enjoying the ambiance of the resort, you are just minutes away from the best the Big Island has to offer. Why Pam chose Waikoloa Village

We fell in love with the Big Island on our first visit in late 1970's and have been returning with our children as frequently as possible. Purchasing a villa in the new Hali'i Kai resort seven years ago was a dream come true for our family. We sincerely hope that you enjoy the island of Hawaii as much as we do. Our family is delighted to share the Aloha spirit with you.

What makes this condo unique

We have 'ohana' family on the Kohala coast and have witnessed the development of Waikoloa Village and the Beach Resort areas over the years (since 1978). We are impressed with Hali'i Kai and purchased our condo seven years ago. The layout and size of our end unit villa, in addition to the pool located at ocean's edge, convinced us to buy. A private restaurant/bar at the pool is an added plus. Sipping a tropical beverage at sunset while wiggling my toes in the sand bottom spa is my idea of paradise!

Kathy and Sapphire who take care of you at the on property restaurant are fantastic. The entire property is beautifully maintained. Our condo, 3D, is nicely appointed and in great condition. We love it at Hali'i Kai!

Mismanaged with several problems!! Stay away

We booked this as we thought we could work directly with the owner. It turns out that the process soon gets turned over to a management company. Upon arrival we noticed several things that were wrong. The main bedroom had blood on the sheets and the back up sheets in the closet as well! The manager told us that they hoped when the owner came down that she would reokace those! I could not believe that response. Also the bathroom shower/tub faucet was broken. Half the water would come out of the tub faucet while only the other half would come out of the shower head itself. Water backed up at our feet which made this less than desirable. Their were no directions for the 5 remotes they had laying around and the spare bedroom remote was out in the living room and would not work. The overhead fan remote was broken and we had to literally use the electrical panel to shut it on and off. The local property manager lived over an hour away and he verified that all these things were wrong and said he had recently taken over. I asked the real estate office for some type of compensation and after weeks of back and forth they offered nothing but our next stay a 10% off! I will never return to this unit. It's poorly run, and my wife and I are not the complaining type at all. We have had great experiences with VRBO rentals in the past, but renter beware on this one guys!! Too many issues and a real lack of caring and support!

Owner's Response: Aloha Todd, Read your review, and I am truly sorry to learn that your stay in our home was not what our guests usually experience. Since I do not live on island full time, I rely on a real estate manager to assist with guest stays (he lives 7 miles away in Waikoloa Village). However, I do tell guests to feel free to contact me by phone or email at any time. If I knew of problems, I would definitely be involved in solving them to our mutual satisfaction. The condo building is 10 years old, and as happens with any home, repairs become necessary from time to time. The Casablanca fan remote succumbed to wear. I contacted both the manufacturer and local dealer and was told that this particular remote was discontinued and also not repairable. Therefore, I ordered a new Casablanca fan with remote. The plumbing issue was also unexpected because I had the bathrooms checked in March while we were there and a plumber was installing a new kitchen faucet. As for linens, I keep a supply of 3 -4 sets of bedding for each room. The extra sets are kept in the manager's closet and it is my custom to mark sheets and towels for identification with ink markers (usually red or black in color). In all sincerity I thank you for your comments. I do take them to heart and make all improvements possible. My repeat guests over the years have noticed new furniture, new television, carpet replacement, upgraded lanai doors, new Weber grill, and decor changes. Keep the faith with VRBO. I do hope that you enjoyed amenities of the Ocean Club at Hali'i Kai and points of interest on Hawaii Island. Hawaii is a magical place! Mahalo, Pam

August trip to Hawaii

It was a wonderful experience.....we arrived to find our "home away from home" perfect. It really felt like a home instead of a "standard condo" or hotel room.... It was clean, bright and comforting for all of us. The boys loved their room ("their private area") and fun times at the pool...The lunches ordered at the grill were great--fish and burgers. There were lots of water activity items for their use , so we didn't have to bring our own or purchase some. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai for sunsets and early mornings for quiet times with our view of the golf course and even the ocean too.... We made many memories at all the nearby beaches and the trip to volcano to see the lava flowing. We look forward to returning in the future.....

honeymooners return

We stayed in condo #3D on our honeymoon in 2013 and have returned. When we walked in the front door, we immediately noticed the new wood flooring in the living area. This was especially nice since we brought our 11 month old baby with us and his spills could be easily wiped. On the lanai, everything has been replaced: the table and chairs set and the BBQ grill. Since the Weber grill is the same model that we have back home, my husband decided to grill most of our meals. Our baby enjoyed the kiddy section of the Ocean Club pool, especially the squirting turtle. We purchased a baby float that had a shade because there is not much cover from the sun (our little guy doesn't like hats).

Nice condo, beautiful view and loved privacy on lanai. However, like other reviewers we also wondered why not better and more seating on lanai.

Other concerns we feel you should know about: no overhead lighting in extra bedroom, only one beach towel, TV was on when we arrived, only one bar soap and shampoo, and no extra toilet paper. So we went and bought these items. We also only had 3 wash cloths for a 10-day stay and no clarity on if there would be light cleaning and new linens. After 5 days, we received new linens, and an over abundance of toiletries and toilet paper. Not sure why those items weren't available from the start. Then we had cleaning staff come, while we were away, 2 other times as well as someone come to check the smoke alarms. Not too happy that this many people in and out with all of our belongings.

We could see that a quick surface cleaning must occur between visitors, but a deep cleaning has not been done.

Owner's Response: Aloha Kim, Thank you for your review. We always appreciate guest comments and suggestions. We believe that we have addressed the issues that you mentioned. For your information, a new and larger dining table for the lanai was shipped and received shortly after your stay. Also, there are four chairs as well as two ottomans for our two-bedroom condo's lanai. In addition, the floor lamp in the second bedroom was replugged into the dedicated outlet for the wall switch (it was inadvertently plugged into an incorrect outlet before) and a nightlight was also placed in the room. The other matters you pointed out were housekeeping related, so we had a discussion with the management personnel at their office located by the front gate. The supervisor and staff are recent hires and are still adjusting. A heavy cleaning of our condo was just completed. Guests can always request additional supplies of linens and toiletries from the front office. As our representatives, the front office staff are there to accommodate our guests' concerns. Sorry the office failed to coordinate the smoke detector test and mid-week tidy clean with your schedule. In our effort to continually improve our little piece of paradise at Hali'i Kai, we thank you again for your comments. Mahalo, Pam owner condo #3D
