THE LOCATION

Vernon Township is in Sussex County New Jersey, USA. It is located about 1 hour from New York City and was established on April 8, 1793. Iron mining was prevalent during the mid-to-late 19th century. Mines such as Canister Mine, Williams Mine, and the Pochuck Mine created industry which spawned local businesses and brought rail travel to the town.
Today Vernon and the immediate area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Here you will find a landscape consisting of residential and resort communities, farmland, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, bird watching, barns, horse farms and stables, lakes, fishing, and just so much natural beauty. The famous Appalachian Trail (AT) even runs through it! You will be amazed on what you will find only 1 hour outside of New York City.

We had a great 2 day stay. Check in was easy and the amenities were awesome. The condo was very clean and felt cozy. Other than the main living room tv not working, everything worked properly.

enjoyed out mini getaway

My husband and I enjoyed out mini getaway, just 90 minutes from NYC.It was nice to have the heated pools and jacuzzi in February. The sauna was quite small and all the heat was lost anytime the door was open (which happened quite a few times by unsupervised children, treating the sauna as a playhouse). The bed was very comfortable and we loved sitting in front of the fireplace and having a clear view of skiers outside the balcony's glass door.

Perfect location

Ski in ski out right next to the chair lifts. Hotel staff was there for any questions i had. Looks as though the hotel itself is in the middle of some construction. But didnt bother us any. Heated underground parking is THE BEST!! We will definitely be going back again! Thanks

Nice clean place no extras

The property is wonderful as it sits on a mountain lodge with some nice amenities. The the place is clean & with towels & linens, but owner supplies the bare minimum. Two bottled waters, 4k cups of coffee with sets of prepackaged accompaniments, one package of popcorn, two small bars of soap and small shampoo.

Excellent accomodations

We had a great stay at Mountain Creek Appalachian Hotel. Great little getaway on the off season. Pool is open till 10pm with hot tub and sauna. No lifeguards (just an fyi)... Easy access and everything you really need in the condo! Will stay again!

BEST KEPT SECRET AT MOUNTAIN CREEK!

This is our 3rd year renting one of Gerry’s units at The Appalachian. His units are always CLEAN!! That is our families top priority. Our family always has a blast skiing at Mountain Creek. The units are fully equipped, we eat breakfast and lunch in the unit, after dinner we return to the unit to play board games, watch a movie snuggled on the comfy sofa around the fireplace with a full view of the skiers coming down the mountain. The heated parking garage is an added bonus. I would highly recommend staying here. Great family memories! Brenda M. & Family

Comfortable Recreational Retreat

We only stayed one night--as it was just a pit-stop along our road trip but happy to have stayed here rather than a chain hotel. It was clean, comfortable and just as described. Next time, we will stay longer and enjoy the pool and all the other activities the resort has to offer!

Wonderful alone time!

Gerry the property manager is really nice and accommodating. He has worked with us many times so I do recommend if you have any issues contact him. The condo itself is beautiful, well furnished, and has a gorgeous view. We brought a firestick with us but if you watch cable the TVs will do you just fine. There are a lot of cool activities nearby - ziplining, horseback riding, wine tours, etc etc. But for us we mostly stayed inside and would have done so even without quarantine. The condo just feels so homey. The fireplace adds a nice touch. Couldn’t recommend more, this will likely be our go-to vacation spot for a long time.

Weekend Get away

The property was great, very clean, friendly staff. We enjoyed the pool (especially during the heat wave and the Covid-19 crisis). Everything was kept clean, guests wore masks, and even though all of the shops and on premises restaurants were not open, we had a good time. Warwick, NY was nearby and had plenty of outside and inside dinning opportunities as well as shopping, antiques, gift shops, supermarket, etc. Lots to do in the area, water park, bicycling, Space Farms & Museum.

My wife and I decided to buy this condo at Black Creek back in 2010 to create family memories and traditions with our 2 kids. We spend a lot of weekends there since its only about 1 hour away from our home in Bergen County NJ. We love sharing it with our guests who come not only from the US but also overseas. We love that!
