Fantastic location!

This B & B...actually a two bedroom, bath and a half apartment...was the highlight of our trip to Italy. It was beautiful, well equipped, comfortable, conveniently situated in a charming village on the border of Umbria and Tuscany. The owners brought a delicious breakfast everyday and gave us touring advice as well as local restaurant recommendations. We definitely would recommend this charming place!

Home Away from Home!

We spent 8 glorious days at this wonderful 12th century B&B. Our hosts, Giovanna, Bennett and Silvano could not possibly have done more for us to insure that we had a wonderful stay with them. Our 2 bedroom apt. oozed with charm and Giovanna prepared such a wonderful breakfast each morning and guided us with much needed information for our day trips through Umbria and Tuscany. We always looked forward to our return home at the end of the day. Restaurants abound in this delightful village surrounded by walls and overlooking Lake Tresimeno. We enjoyed our nightly stroll along the lake. The central location (on the border of Umbria and Tuscany) allows easy exploration of the two regions. The best of Italy is right here!

We have had the very best of holidays! Our hosts are fabulous and so helpful. We couldn’t have asked for anything better- great accommodations, great breakfasts, daily advice for where to park and what to look for where we were going, advice for extra sites and things to do... I could go on and on! They picked us up at the train station when we arrived very late at night, took us to pick up our rental car and then help us with the return, called to book excursions and followed up with confirmation - they truly have gone above and beyond what the typical service provides. The community in Castiglione del Lago were friendly and always stopped to say hello. We came as strangers and are now leaving our friends. We will miss all of what we found in this quaint little historical town. Grazie mon ami ❤️ to Giovanna, Sylvano, and Benedetta.

Just perfect...

We deiced to visit Italy for our honeymoon. Majority of the time was at Antica Gabella B&B, property listed here. This really was the best part of our holiday! Great communication with us prior the trip was a good start, to make sure we feel relaxed once there. Venue it's easy to find or, like us, if travelling by train, owners can pick you up. From the first minute we felt so welcome at this family run B&B. The venue is so lovely! You can choose, when booking, a room (or actually two) upstairs, with shared entrance or, like us, downstairs which actually is a separate apartment, with a mall kitchen too and street entrance. We where so delighted with fantastic choice of breakfast every day. It really felt like being at home...Thank you! Additionally, owners kept checking if we would need any advise where to go, see, do & dine. This B&B is perfectly located, amongst the old town/castle grounds. Plenty of fantastic places to eat nearby, offering local produce. Antica Gabella is a fantastic place to stay. It's charm and perfect customer service from all teh family who run the business makes us want to come back there again. Strongly recommended!

Ahh, perfection...

We loved our two nights at Antica Gabella and meeting Giovanna and Silvana initially and Benedetta later. They are all lovely and helpful hosts. Our three room apartment on two levels was in the heart of old town Castiglione del Lago so we felt a part of the daily life in this historic walled village. Each morning, Giovanna quietly set our table with a true Tuscan breakfast including fresh baked items straight from the local forno. What a pleasure! We left our fortress to walk down to beautiful Lake Trasimeno where locals of all ages gathered either in the shade or in the water to beat the 100+ plus temperatures. We'd intended to drive to Assisi but learned there was no way to get gas on a Sunday afternoon so contented ourselves with a lovely afternoon in the "north shore" city of Passignano del Lago. We were enchanted with the vendor stalls of new and used books (rather than plastic beach items) that lined the shady promenade at lake's edge here. We returned to our home in the fortress and walked the narrow streets listening to music. Ahh, perfection...

Could not be more perfect!

This was our 5th Italian vacation. We spent most of it in Tuscany and finished up in Rome. We've been to Tuscany a few times before, and without a doubt, this will be our home base next time for any areas within 1 to 1.5 hours away. The hostess is delightful and wants to meet your every need. The beautiful old stable is incredibly clean and comfortable. Getting in and out of town from your car is even easier, which if you know some of these towns, isn't always the case! It was a 5 minute walk to the car (if not less), and you were out of town in minutes. We had the chance to go to a local restaurant that was recommended and it was fabulous. If I could give 6 stars out of 5, that would be it! Lastly; I forgot my sunglasses there. I offered to pay and have them couriered to our next destination. Due to an upcoming weekend, that didn't work and so the daughter's boyfriend dropped them off at our B & B in Rome!! We were staying in the heart of the old city, so getting there to drop them off wouldn't have been quick and easy. I offered again to compensate them and they wouldn't have it. Above and beyond!

Stupenda permanenza

Abbiamo trascorso dei giorni bellissimi, godendo di un'ospitalità al di sopra di ogni aspettativa. La proprietaria e sua figlia, sono due persone squisite, sempre disponibili e gentilissime. Ci hanno fatto sentire come se fossimo a casa. La cura con cui hanno arredato l'appartamento è davvero sublime, ed anche la pulizia sempre eccellente. Ogni mattino la signora ci ha saputo stupire con colazioni abbondanti e buonissime, non trascurando mai, di lasciare dolci e bevande per la merenda del pomeriggio. Io e mio figlio ringraziamo di cuore per l'ospitalità offerta e per il trattamento davvero eccezionale che ci hanno riservato!

Perfect room in a charming villiage

I stayed here by myself for 2 nights. The hosts were so warm, helpful, and went out of their way to make my stay perfect. This is also easily the most comfortable bed/pillows I found in more than 2 weeks in Italy. Highly recommend. The breakfast is wonderful too.

Dreamy Tuscan Cottage

This charming, romantic cottage was exactly what you think of when visiting a tiny Tuscan town. The home was extremely well appointed and immaculate. The furnishings are charming and we were very comfortable there. The couple that manages the property was extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

Beautiful Romantic Getaway

My wife and I traveled to Italy to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and spent four wonderful nights at this beautiful bed and breakfast. Centrally located on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, in the center of a lovely village with a castle, it was perfect for many short-day trips to beautiful places like Spello, Assisi, Cortona, Pienza, Montepulciano, Sienna, and Perugia. We also enjoyed the small villages surrounding the lake. There were many shops and restaurants right outside the B&B, or within a short walking distance, but our room was always quiet and restful. The room we rented was much more like a small apartment and was perfect. Clean, comfortable, and romantic. We were treated so well by our lovely hosts who were among the friendliest and nicest people we met in Italy. Sadly, not everyone in Italy was happy to meet us "Americanos", but here we felt welcome and at home from the minute we arrived. Breakfast was amazing, and milk, coffee, juices, and treats awaited us every time we came home. Our hosts shared many helpful suggestions about where to eat and visit, and we loved every one of them. Every part of our stay was magical and we will never forget our time here and the lovely people who opened their home to us! We hope to return here again someday soon!

Sehr nettes Apartment mit hervorragendem Frühstück

Bei der Ankunft waren wir positiv überrascht, wie groß die Unterkunft doch ist! Auf den Bildern hatten wir uns nicht ganz erschließen können, welche Räume zu welchen der beiden Apartments gehörten. Unser Stockwerk hatte zwei Schlafzimmer und 1 1/2 Bäder. Auch das Wohnzimmer und die Küche haben uns positiv überrascht. Die Familie, welche sich um das B&B kümmert, ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Gerne helfen Sie, wenn man etwas braucht oder einen Tipp für ein Restaurant braucht. Das Frühstück war sehr üppig und jeden Tag ausgesprochen gut und qualitativ hochwertig mit Spezialitäten aus der Umgebung. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder!

Magnificent perfection!

Our stay was one of the best we have ever experienced. The village is located on a beautiful lake and is only a short distance from other popular locations like Assisi. The home is in the historic old town and close to restaurants but has the peace and tranquility of a countryside location. The home itself is absolutely spectacular and is highly recommended for any occasion. Communication with the hosts was simple, easy and kind. We were impressed with the wonderful service and attention to detail. Our 2-day stay was absolutely top-notch...not to miss!

More than a B&B

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property. Giovanna and Silvano were fabulous hosts. We had a two bedroom two bath unit, fully equipped, with a complete breakfast delivered to our room each morning. They also cleaned the rooms daily, and provided new towels weekly. The location in this lovely walled village was ideal with everything close by. Giovanna was also very helpful with dinner reservations and information concerning the area. Simply perfect hosts

Best Surprise Ever!

The location is breathtaking, the apartment (as not really a room!) is beautiful with everything you need, including a little kitchen. The owners are helpful and make the best scrambled eggs! They added lovely touches such as pastries to welcome us and milk in the fridge. The little village on the hill (that you are pretty much in the centre of) is gorgeous and there are so many restaurants with excellent food to choose from. We were there during a very hot time in Italy and the aircon saved us! I would definitely recommend this for a stay for a couple of nights at least, to explore and walk and do the boat trip to Isola Magiore.

A lovely B&B in a beautiful location

Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and delightful and every morning a wonderful breakfast was waiting for us. Thank you for your care and attention

Absolutely LOVED it!

My husband and I just returned from our trip abroad and our last stay was at this wonderful B and B in Castiglione del Lago, Italy. I chose this location because the VRBO reviews were excellent and the photos made it look so awesome----we were not disappointed! Silvano, Giovanna and Benedetta have five available rentals and we were lucky enough to get the beautiful suite on the ground floor. It was stunning! Old brick walls, beautiful antique furniture, spacious surroundings, comfortable bed and pillows. There was nothing we did not like. Our hosts were so gracious and beyond helpful! Actually, they went above and beyond! We got up very early on our day of departure to travel almost 3 hours to the airport in Rome when we discovered our rental car would not start! When calls to the 24 hour answering service of the car rental agency went unanswered the owners quickly got dressed, grabbed our luggage, threw in in their car and off we went for a 25 minute drive to the nearest train station. Giovanna helped us secure the proper train tickets and she and Silvano got us to the correct train track and made sure we got on. With hugs and kisses from our new found friends we were off with just minutes to spare! We left the rental car with them to hopefully get taken care of and we actually made our flight back home! We will never forget our visit to that beautiful little town in Italy and I am sure the town will long remember that morning as we probably woke up all the neighbors with our little escapade! (dragging suitcases over old brick roads is NOT quiet!) Antica Gabella is a beautiful place to stay in a stunning little town---you will not be disappointed!

Lovely and Intimate B&B

Our stay at Gabella Antica B&B was our favorite accommodation for the 2 weeks we were in Umbria and Tuscana. Benedetta, Giovanna and Silvano could not have been more welcoming and kind to us during our five night stay in Castellano del Lago. We had a two bedroom, two bath apartment to ourselves, which was very private. We had a small kitchen with everything we needed to make two dinners. Breakfast was provided by Giovanna every morning with a wonderful selection of breads, cheeses, meats, and fruit. Coffee, tea, milk and butter was always available to have any time of day. The apartment was cleaned every day while we were away on day trips (Assisi, Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona). Several restaurants are near and excellent for dinner within the wall, as well as many shops for wonderful local wine and pastas. We have happy memories and are grateful for the experiences we had in Castellano del Lago -due mostly to the generosity of Giovanna, Benedetta and Silvano. They run a top notch business!
