My wife and I have been Baltimore residents all our lives, but we have always loved spending time in the more serene parts of Maryland's Eastern Shore. Now that our children are grown and living nearby, we wanted to find a vacation home within easy driving distance that we could use as a family gathering place. Nancy and Larry Baltimore, MD
Why Owner chose Royal Oak
Situated on Oak Creek in Royal Oak, Maryland, the River House is located between the historic towns of Easton and St. Michaels. Although it was a true 'fixer-upper,' our cottage offered just what we were looking for--a peaceful getaway spot with lots of room, plenty of activities closeby, and opportunity for kayaking, biking, strolling, or just 'chilling.'
What makes this Cottage unique
While we have our favorite restaurants in Easton, St. Michaels, and Oxford, we enjoy dining in and watching the constant parade of waterfowl on Oak Creek. At the River House, with its spectacular water views, we feel insulated from the stress of our everyday lives, yet we can be as active or inactive as we want--we're never bored or at a loss for a fun or peaceful way to spend our time.

Nice, cozy and quaint!
My family and I had a wonderful time! The view overlooking the water is amazing! We plan on making this a yearly family getaway! I highly recommend this place!
Pretty location but the home needs cleaning and the heater needs repair.
The house was very pretty although the heater was not working on the first floor. The home was not clean. My vacation was not good. My time was spent trying to keep the home warm. Disappointing and costly.
We responded to the guest complaint about no heat on the 1st floor by having an HVAC contractor out to the house the very next day. Regarding cleanliness, the house is closed for the winter, but when re-open in March it will be under new management.
Spent a delightful weekend at the Waterfowl Festival and enjoyed the porch and dock in the early mornings. Wonderful rental, and very convenient to St. Michaels.
Great Fall Family Getaway
We spent a wonderful family weekend at this house. the downstairs is open, very light and has multiple vistas of the water. The three upstairs bedrooms are close to one another and share a bathroom. It was fine for us because we were all family. The setting and open space around the house was great for just getting outside and the location perfect, just outside of St. Michaels.
Great home and location!
We had a great time relaxing and exploring the eastern shore. Wonderful property.
House and lawn are beautiful. Great view of cove. Could use a larger tv
The River House is more than an ordinary vacation home. It's charming on the outside and cozy inside with all modern amenities, and a very Provencal flavor. There is a private pier, perfect for catching crabs, launching a boat, watching herons and other birds, or just relaxing. We can arrange kayak and bike rentals for guests. Inside the cottage, it's bright and light with unobstructed views, cozy fireplace, lovely all year round, and warmed by sun throughout the year. Convenient to both Easton and St Michaels with shops, antiques, cafes and elegant restaurants...you won't run out of things to do. Guests who visit the River House often want to visit our restored Village House in the heart of Provence, France. It's located in Grambois, a medieval perched village not far from Aix en Provence.
