About José & Mikel

We are a Lawyer and a travel journalist and photographer, respectively.

Our home town is Pamplona (north of Spain, very close to France) but we are based in Madrid since 2000.

José & Mikel purchased this apartment in 1996

Why José & Mikel chose Old Town

This was our first home. We have a beautiful memories of it so we want you to feel as good like if you were in your own home.

What makes this apartment unique

The totally renewed flat is in Calle Compañía one of the most quiet and bohemian streets in the Historical Old Town.

There are convenience stores and a organic small food shop on the same street. The supermarket and Santo Domingo Central Market is just five minutes walking.

The Tapas restaurants, bars and the main attractions are just around the corner.

Great location, shaky property.

Pros: the location is wonderful, blocks from the plaza de toros and a short walk to the port of France. It is also on a road that connects to pintxos bars and will have great night life if you so desire.

The owners and their friend (who met us at the property to let us in) were very easy to communicate with and friendly.

Cons: the building itself is under construction which was unknown to us before our stay. To get to the room you walk through dust and the room is full of the same dust.

Because there is no air conditioning and no fans, the combination of the dust and heat became quite unbearable. Even leaving the windows open left us with no air flow and street sound.

There should be fans for hot nights.

Finally, spiders and spider webs were off putting, so we went through the house killing them before we went to bed.

Owner's Response: Dear Charles and Merci, First of all, thanks for your comment. It will be very helpful for us to improve our service. We always inform our guests about the renovation works (an elavator s being installed in the building that will improve the main hall and staircase, works will be done in September 2017). In your case we didn't inform you because you made the reservation very in advance when the works hadn't begun. We are realy sorry about that as we should have informed you anyway. We are also sorry about the spider net but unfortunately things like that happen from time to time in a old town sorrounded by mountains and forest like Pamplona. Temperatures in Pamplona are normally not that high as this June (I checked it and the highest temperature in June was 28º C). It isn't justified to install AC in this area of Spain, none apartment has AC, because people would only use it two or three times a year, and specially in a property that that has very thick walls. Its a shame but you are the first client to complain about the temperature in three years that we've been running the apartment and of course we will include some instructions on how to mantain cool the apartment on hot days. As You only stayed in Pamplona one night We would love to have the oportunity to be your host again once the works end in september 2017. I'm sure you will get a totally different experience. José

Great apartment in a great location!

We (a family of five) stayed here comfortably for the last two nights of San Fermin. Fantastic location in the old town. Less than a block from the action, so quick and easy to get into the fun. Jose is a great host. He was not only extremely friendly, but he also helped us with our plans by giving us some great suggestions for events and meals.

Believe it or not, the festival is kid friendly. Sure you have to pay attention to your surroundings depending on the "education" you want to give your children, but there are a ton of families there (multi-generational) and things for families to do (don't miss the fireworks bull!). My girls loved Pamplona and San Fermin. We will definitely be back and definitely try to rent this apartment from Jose again!

Hemos estado muy bien atendidos por la propiedad.

El piso está bien situado, en pleno centro de Pamplona y está bien en general, aunque necesita algunas mejoras, como por ejemplo en las carpinterías de ventanas y en la equipación del cuarto de baño.
