About Carole Beal
Bar Harbor is my home in winter. My daughters grew up here. Now retired, for 28 years I co-owned a cooperative gallery at 99 Main St, Island Artisans. In the summer months, you will find me in Blue Hill (one hour by car from Bar Harbor) in my pottery studio. There, I make pottery, tend my vegetable garden, gather raspberries and blackberries and spend days with granddaughters (ages 9 and 10) who live across the field.
Carole Beal purchased this House in 1975
Why Carole Beal chose Bar Harbor
It is located in the village across from the elementary school and a short walk to the post office, the ocean and restaurants. The Beal family came to Mount Desert Island via the Lighthouse Service and Mount Desert Rock Lighthouse, located 25 miles off shore. They settled in Southwest Harbor (near Cranberry Island) and generations have raised their children on this island. It is a family tradition to move to "camp" in summer and rent our homes.
What makes this House unique
Eden Street is the perfect location for a short walk or bike ride into the park. There are many connector trails. Our home is very special. The patio is an extension of the kitchen with its grill and umbrella/table. The enclosed front porch invites you to breakfast there on cool mornings, and it becomes a play area for young children. The garage is for bikes or storage while the boardwalk around the house is for picking berries for much of the summer.

This is where we will hope to stay every visit.
My wife and I loved everything about this house. From the beautifully manicured plants, bushes and trees that line every sidewalk to the simple yet lovely decor of every room, this will always be our first choice when we return to B.H. We felt at home the entire stay and owner, Carole, is an absolute delight. We can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay.
Perfect for our stay in Bar Harbor!
My husband found Carole's home on VRBO and it looked perfect for our stay in Bar Harbor. The location is convenient for walking to town and a short drive to Acadia National Park. Carole's home is very comfortable and was well stocked. We didn't have an opportunity to meet Carole, but she was a delight to work with and was quick to respond to our inquiries. It was also a treat to use her beautiful pottery!
Great house & proximi, but beware of traffic level
Nice home- comfortable and well-appointed. Outside- lovingly maintained and pretty private patio. Perfect walking distance to town. Super friendly landlord. However, beware if you are a light sleeper. Busy road, plus a neighbor who fires up noisy jeep every weekday morning at 5:15am. :(
Thank you for letting me know about my neighbor's jeep. I talked to him recently. He is truly sorry, and apologizes for the disturbance. He no longer parks his jeep on the street beside my home, and assures me that he will not park there in the future.
Pretty house in an ideal location!
My family stayed for a week at Carole's lovely house. It was our first trip to Bar Harbor and we were so lucky to find her place. It's perfectly located for walking to downtown Bar Harbor. It was so convenient to eat in town and be able to walk home. Plus, it's a great location for driving into Acadia National Park and exploring the other quaint towns. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. Our children loved the rainfall shower! And Carole's beautiful pottery made our meals extra special. :) We loved our stay and Carole made us feel right at home!
Charming house and yard!
A friend and I rented Carole's house for a week long getaway. It was a charming house that was perfect for us. We loved being able to walk to downtown, saving the hassle of finding a parking place! The kitchen was well equipped for meals in, including Carole's beautiful pottery dishes. There were books in the bookshelves and direct tv for our entertainment when we weren't enjoying Acadia National Park near by. We hope to return next year!
Very nice location for a young family !
We enjoyed staying at 5 Eden Street for a week with our 2 daughters. Ideal for a family with young kids or teenagers, the property is well-maintained, clean and very practical.
We enjoyed using the BBQ on the terrace.
The location is perfect for activities: walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor and close to the Acadia Park.
We also appreciated to meet the Owner, she was very nice and caring.
We will definitively recommend this property to a friend!
