About Clara Dobson
Hi, my name is Clara and I am a Business Consultant, Travel Writer, and Yoga Teacher originally from London, but now living in the US. I am based in Austin, Texas with my husband Shane who is a retired US Army Officer, now working for a Veterans Non-Profit Foundation called Vettix. Shane was born and raised in Maine, and our 'Little House on Long Lake' was built by his family in the 1920s! We now use it in the summer with our family but decided we wanted to share the beauty of northern Maine with as many people as possible. We both adore traveling and exploring new cities, music and cultures and love creating great travel opportunities for other people!
Why Clara Dobson chose Sinclair
With breathtaking views across the water, our little house sits at one of the most beautiful spots on Long Lake. One of the original homes on the lake, it was actually built as a log cabin by our family back in the 1920s with the foundation being pulled by horses over the frozen ice in the winter! Used by our family for many years, it is now a cozy retreat offering endless opportunities for adventure lovers, families and groups of friends. Embrace the colors of fall and the snows of winter before relaxing in the warmth of the cabin, or enjoy the nature and sun of the spring and summer months by soaking up the sun in our lakefront yard. No matter what you choose to do here, you'll enjoy our waterfront cabin with an open-plan, country-style kitchen and living area, and our bathroom with walk-in shower and laundry facilities. In addition, you'll be able to relax in our two comfortable bedrooms which can sleep up to five people and are always made up with crisp white linens and warm fleece blankets. The cabin is also equipped with Cable TV and WiFi so you'll be able to think of it as your little home-away-from-home - which is exactly what we want for you!
What makes this Cabin unique
Sinclair is a small town in Aroostook County and is a true adventure seekers dream situated on Long Lake. The lake itself covers 6,000 acres and has a maximum depth of 163 feet making it the deepest of the Fish River chain of lakes. Well known for Brook Trout and landlocked Salmon, the lake is a fantastic escape for those looking to make a catch in the summer or go ice fishing in the winter.* For the peaceful nature lovers, there are many hiking opportunities and chances to enjoy the beauty of northern Maine. For the artists, enjoy capturing Mother Nature's beauty through painting or photography - note that the published Botanical Artist, J.Allen Boucher is our Uncle, and grew up in this house! For those looking to make a kill, there are seasonal hunting opportunities** nearby and finally, for the adrenaline junkies, we are situated right on the ATV trail and the snowmobile trails! Not to mention the brilliant mountain biking opportunities! The local store is located a short distance away, and for dinner, you can head there for family favorites. Alternatively, visit the nearby Sporting Club, or take a drive up to the Lakeview Restaurant. A 'directory' is available in the cabin that highlights alternative options for dining and local things to do. *The ice fishing season runs from January 1st through March 31st. You will need a license to fish the lake. **For information on hunting seasons and all licenses head over to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website.
