Charming Hale 'O Bali (House of Bali) is perched on a one acre estate near her sister adjacent home, Java Kai(listing #388724). The homes are booked separately. Choose between Hale 'O Bali (1-4 persons) , Java Kai (1-6 persons), or book both and the entire one acre, private estate. The two homes can accommodate 1-10 persons. These oceanfront, AUTHENTIC, Indonesian hardwood homes are located just off the main shoreline highway in Kaneohe on the windward side of Oahu. We can host your wedding/reception, holiday, family gathering, celebration, event, or retreat.

Charming, intimate ,Hale 'O Bali has 1 bedrm, 1 bath with an alternative sleeping loft above the master bedroom, for older children who would enjoy climbing the fixed ladder instead of staying in the den on the comfortable queen futon couch/bed.

Enjoy the 1100 Sq. Ft. porcelain tiled deck Take in spectacular views of Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau mountains.

The high open beam ceilings are graced with Woven Bamboo (Bedeg). Your feet will stay cool on the Ceramic Tiles throughout . Tradewinds and ceiling Fans in each room help keep you cool and comfortable.

Out on the large 1100 square foot porcelain tiled deck take in the Sunrise over the Ocean Horizon and Spectacular Panoramic Views of the Koolau Mountains, Chinaman's Hat Island, and the turquoise and emerald hues of Kaneohe Bay. Enjoy the lush, colorful, and fragrant gardens and Stroll the One Acre Property to the Shoreline, approximately 300 feet in length.. The great lawn and ocean garden are perfect for events and the 20' high lava rock privacey wall is a perfect backdrop for an event tent or space.

The NONswimming beach here is beautiful, but is shallow for such a long way out and can be rocky also and so is not practical for swimming. The views of the bay and Koolau mountains and Chinaman's Hat Island are breathtaking from here. The waters here are very protected and lend themselves nicely to boating and paddleboarding.

There is a white sandy beach 3 minutes drive away at Kualoa Beach Park. It is one of the ten top rated beaches on Oahu and has extremely safe and protected waters for all ages.

About Leilani Sim-Godbehere

I manage this family owned property. I currently reside on Kauai with my husband and daughter where I help take care of our farm. My mother and son also help care of Hale 'O Bali and making sure guests are comfortable and cared for!

Leilani Sim-Godbehere purchased this house in 1995

Why Leilani Sim-Godbehere chose Waikāne

Our family shipped these Minahasa Island homes over from Sulawesi, Indonesia and rebuilt them with great difficulty. The area here is rural and a far contrast to the bustle of Honolulu.

I personally lived in each of these homes over many years and have never loved living in any home more. The two homes are separate but share a very large rambling deck. Hale 'O Bali is the smaller of the two homes.

What makes this house unique

The charming ambiance and warmth of this chempaca wood home is magical. Come enjoy the serenity, the views, and the unique Indonesian architecture!

Guestbook comments from the manager

I've been preparing this romantic, unique home to be as comfortable as it is delightful. I welcome everyone to Hale'O Bali to share in the beauty and joy that our island paradise provides.

We loved Hale 'O Bali

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week at Hale 'O Bali, and had a fabulous time. This home sits on the windward side, in an area that, in our opinion, is the most breathtakingly beautiful area of Oahu. We love renting a cottage instead of staying in a hotel, as it feels more like we are 'living' in the place, rather than visiting it. For us, Hale 'O Bali was the perfect choice. With it's unique Indonesian/island architectural character, rural setting with stunning views of both the ocean and the mountains, and awakening to roosters and birds chirping, just being in the house made us feel very connected to nature, and a real part of Hawaii.

The house was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The bedroom is large, and there's a ton of drawer and closet space. I wished the shower was a smidge bigger, but that's no big deal. Over all, the bathroom was very nice. Lots of towels and plenty of towel bars to let things dry in the tropical climate, and a washer and dryer. During our visit, it rained often, which is very normal for that part of Hawaii, and why it is so gloriously beautiful. Our benchmark for a great place to stay is "is it a good rainy day house" - can you be happy there if weather or other factors keep you couped up for a while. Hale 'O Bali is perfect, because even when you're at home, you are looking out through an entire wall of windows, on to beautiful mountains, lush foliage, and the ocean. Outdoor living is great with a very large deck, nicely furnished. It is ocean front, though it is not a swimming beach. We consider this a plus, as there were no beach-goers out our window. Just lovely foliage, a huge lawn leading to the water, and a half dozen swaying palms framing the view of the ocean. For your beach fix, just hop in the jeep and go up the road in either direction, and you've got beaches galore. Although the home gives you a lovely away-from-it-all feeling, it is a short (and stunningly beautiful) drive south to Kailua and Lanikai beaches, an easy, and gorgeous, jaunt to Honolulu, and right on the way to the wonderful North Shore.

All in all, we would highly recommend this house. It is a unique experience. The owner provided us with excellent service, the home and grounds are beautifully maintained, and we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We would stay there again, in a minute, and heartily recommend it to others traveling to Oahu.

Looking great, Not clean inside.

  • 3 of 5

I stayed 7 days with my children 10and 6 years old.

During daytime, this house is good. Wide inner space, great frontyard, cute back yard.

But in night, bedroon has much dust and my daughter`s allergic rhinitis is moderate. The house is hot and there is not air-conditioner. There are much mosquitos and we had 3 terrible night and then we had to buy insect spray.

But I enjoyed my holiday well but my chilren does not like this house.

I recemmend cleaning this house and bring air-conditioner.

I am Korean and this is my second time in ohau.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear the children did not enjoy the house. The design of the house is very OPEN AIR and was actually built in Sulawesi Indonesian in the Minahasa style. It has open ventilation which allows the house to breathe and to stay cool naturally. This house is equipped with ceiling fans in each room and it has cool tile floors throughout. For people who do have respiratory issues that requires more of an indoor, air conditioned environment we recommend these guests may prefer a hotel room situation instead of an Indonesian Island home.

We really enjoyed our stay.

  • 4 of 5

We liked the security gate. We were there by ourselves the scenery was beautiful and easy to travel to other parts of the island. I really enjoyed the unique construction of the home a true piece of craftsmanship. If you enjoy the quiet get away from the crowds type of holiday you would enjoy this home...the owner did provide excellent service. I would like to return with my entire family and rent both houses.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to get away from all the craziness of the Waikiki and Honolulu area...this is the place to be. One of our favorite pastimes was enjoying our morning coffee and watching those gorgeous sunrises. Peaceful and private, the view and the grounds are beautiful. Loved the feeling of walking barefoot on the beautiful tile floors throughout the entire house and lanai.

The property is located in an area that is close to almost any activity you are looking to experience...beautiful beaches, hiking, kayaking, shopping, local eateries....

The house we were in (Hale O' Bali) was clean and well stalked and really gave you the feeling of being in the islands. We loved our stay here.

Leilani was a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer any questions we had. If we ever come back to Oahu, this is where I would want to stay and would recommend this beautiful place to anyone.
