Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank-you Thanl-you Thank-you! Everything was perfect. You have thought of EVERYTHING to make anyone feel right aat home in "your" home! I had planned on unpacking and going straight to the store to pick up "necessities" - but you had everything we needed already here. The kids were so excited about the "stocked" fridge in the game room! We used the bon fire, the hot tub, and the game room! I couldn't believe you even had a GPS for us to use. (I could have left mine at home) We even had our family come out to visit one day - we were so proud to show off your beautiful home! We especially enjoyed sitting on the front deck in the sunshine. I was so lucky to find your house to rent. Thank you so much for sharing it with our family - I am SO happy we did not end up at a hotel! It was perfect!

Our second visit...

  • 5 of 5

We have returned to Portland and were happy to find the 1908 House available for our use. Thanks again for a wonderful place to make a "base" camp for our Norther adventures. Once again it was stocked to the hilt with all that we could possibly think of. We love your kitchen and the fact that you have included all we need to prepare our meals at the house. And what a great BBQ! We sat by the firepit in the rain! It was just too nice.

See you again in the Spring.

Enjoyed the stay

  • 4 of 5

The home is old and has it's quarks but it was a nice stay. Everything was clean and all supplies you might need were available from cotton balls to cleaning supplies. There are lots of fun games for the kids although two of the three arcade games had issues and the downstairs TV didn't work so my kids didn't use the Wii. I could have moved it up to the middle level but they had other things to keep them occupied. They played badminton and other games in the back yard. We had two full size cars for our group and it took all the space in front of the house and there is no driveway so not sure what larger groups would do with their cars. On our last day a meter maid went by and marked our tires as it's two hour parking so don't plan on leaving your car out front on a weekday for very long.

Owner's Response: Lots of fun for everyone ! Unfortunately our RoadBlaster arcade game died several months ago and can not be fixed - it was easy to take out of the VRBO description but not so easy to take out of the basement, it was finally removed last month. Having lots of games comes with issues sometimes. The gameroom TV is set up with Wii, PS3 and Xbox (besides regular television). We do our very best to leave complete instructions on how to make each device function properly, but kids can sometimes get things out of whack. We have plenty of parking. We have space for 3 cars directly in front of the house and a parking lot for up to 6 additional cars in the back.

Plenty of room for a large group

  • 4 of 5

Although the weather did not cooperate every day- we did get some outside time for our large group to barbecue and enjoy the backyard and spa. Ample room- lots of living and relaxing space. We never felt crowded and teenagers and adults had plenty of room to spread out. Great location - close enough to Portland to enjoy restaurants and attractions but far enough to be scenic and quiet.

Perfect for our family reunion

  • 5 of 5

Five of my seven siblings (along with our respective spouses and children and of course mom and dad) all got together for my sister's wedding and a subsequent family reunion and this quaint home could not possibly have been a more perfect gathering spot. Equipped with badminton, pool, games, two barbecues, and everything you need for a good time with friends and family, and the owner is probably the most friendly, down to earth people I've worked with!!

A very unique, quaint house that has many amenities

  • 4 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this location very much. It is very unique, clean, well kept and well stocked with many amenities. There were directions for everything and I would recommend it. The house was also spacious with many rooms.

Thank you for sharing your home with us.

My only issues, which can be easily fixed and I wrote in the book in the kitchen, are the door knob in the bathroom on the main floor does not work. It just spins. If you don't lock the door, it will not close. If you do lock the door, you can't get out.

The arcade games in the basement did not work.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review - I am happy that you enjoyed your stay, in spite of being locked in the bath. I do wish you would have called me about the door knob, I could have sent maintenance right over. And since this is the very first I have heard of it - I do hope my current guest is not locked in. :^(. Please, everyone if there is an issue with ANYTHING, pick up the phone and call me. It is so much better than reading about the issue in a review.
