House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
About Scott Worner
We purchased the house, being from New York, looking for a warm and sunny place to spend some quiet time.
Scott Worner purchased this House in 2012
Why Scott Worner chose Kekaha
More sun and warmth. Less rain and humidity. Quiet and more old world Hawaii. Love the 15+ mile beach. This is the real Hawaii, not the one of resorts and expensive hotels.
What makes this House unique
Favorite thing to do is just walk out the front door, across the street to the beach, and grab a spot under palm trees slightly to the left and watch the ocean and sunsets. Love to sit out on the lanai and read. I like to cook fresh fish, among other things, and that's why I have such a well equipped kitchen. We have done most of the excursions and just like to relax at home mostly. But my favorite excursion is taking a catamaran up the Napali Coast.

Lovely stay at the blue lotus
My family was all able to come together and enjoy a wonder time at the blue lotus. The timing for us was not ideal being the beginning of the pandemic. However Kauai is amazing and so beautiful! The house was everything we needed! Had all the amenities! Was able to walk the beach every morning and have a great sunset at night.
While it's not the best swimming spot you can drive about a half mile and there is a great beach we went to! The beds were all comfortable and the air conditioning worked great! We were able to communicate very quickly with the property manager for any concerns. We used the hiking sticks, boogy boards, and cooler provided at the house. The outdoor shower was also a huge convince for us. It is not in a touristy area which we loved and we had sunshine everyday! I hope we can return soon!
Sunset in Paradise
This is a wonderful property for a family vacation. It is very well maintained and convenient. The small backyard is fenced and was just perfect for morning yoga. The house is in an active neighborhood. There is a school across the road but the ocean can also be viewed from the front porch. The beach across the road was a great place to watch the sunset and have a swim. There is a protected area where local children swim down to the east of the house. When we moved to the north of Kauai, we realized just how wonderful it was to have had such a glorious expanse of sand and sea with so few people a few steps from our door. The location was convenient for grocery shopping and we enjoyed the Kauai shrimp always available at the Ishihara market in Waimea.
The property was great, cute, reasonable and well equipt but...
The property was terrific but unfortunately the neighborhood was not. It was close to the beach but between the barking dog right next door, his yelling owners and the roosters who crowed all night not just at dawn, we didn't get a lot of sleep. Also there are several houses in the neighborhood that were extremely junky. I'm so sorry for this review because the owners of the property we're very responsive have no control of these issues.
Great little, no frills place in Kekaha
If you're looking for a place on the quiet, west side, then this place is a gem.
If you're reading this and you've not spent much time on Kauai, then please note that Kekaha is pretty far away from the main tourist areas. There are no real restaurants - not even a decent grocery store. Kekaha is as off the beaten path as there is on Kauai. If you want the tourist stuff, this is not for you. If you want peace and quiet, easy access to hiking at the Canyon, the swamp, and Koke'e, and an awesome beach (and really nothing else), then Kekaha might be for you.
As far as the house itself goes, it is among the nicest of those we've stayed in in Kekaha (out of six or so properties). As noted in my title, no frills, but everything worked as it should, the place was clean and well kept, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes pots, pans, and utensils, and the neighborhood was quiet (except for the constant clucking of all the chickens). There is even a decent view of the ocean.
As advertised and more.
Waimea Canyon visiter's park and museum with many hiking trails, Kekaha Lifeguard Beach within walking distance, Salt Pond for children wading and sea salt collection, Polihale State Park, Boogie boarding, Fishing, Waimea movie theater, and farmers market close by.
