About Virginia Acord
David and I own Southern Heritage Woodworks in Sylvester, Georgia. (Google us if you would like more information on our company or products.) We manufacturer flooring and furniture out of reclaimed wood salvaged from old textile mills built prior to the 1920's. We have three boys, 26 21, and 19.
Why Virginia Acord chose Graham County
We love to spend time at our cabin to relax and just get away from everyday life. We especially enjoy our time during the Fourth of July. All of our family travels up and we grill and go boat riding, tubing and wake boarding on Fontana Lake. The water is as clear as spring water and still refreshing in July and best of all is not crowded.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the seclusion of our cabin. We have the privacy and tranquility of sitting on the deck, drinking our coffee and enjoying nature.

My favorite retreat!
We stay there every year for MINIS on The Dragon. It's the perfect place for a large group to go in together on, and the sunrise over the lake is amazing! Looking forward to returning next year!
Beautiful views and house!
We mountain biked and hiked many trails in the area and also drove a few hours southeast to white water raft the Chattooga River. House was beautiful and stocked with the essentials. We enjoyed grilling and relaxing on the deck with the beautiful view of the lake. We would definitely recommend the house!
Perfect place for groups
Our group of 6 stayed at the Acord cabin this March for about 5 days. Everyone in our group loved this house so much, none of us wanted to go back home when it was time to leave. The house is extremely spacious, clean, and well stocked with everything we needed. We were able to make full meals and desserts at the house with no problems. We had so much extra space, we ended up spending a few hours one night playing hide and seek and kept ourselves busy for a long time. The only downfall was that the house was far from most things. Everything was 30+ minutes away. Luckily we didn't need to leave the house very often and only went out to eat once at Lynn's Place in town. This house is in good proximity to NOC, which is fantastic as well. The view was so amazing, and we even got to see snow a few times while we were there. The road up to the cabin is not nearly as intimidating as it seems, I drove up in my 2wd Chevy Cruze and was more than fine, even in the dark. We saw deer, wild turkey, and what we believe to be a beaver or an otter around the property. A few of us took a trail we found down to the lake (not actually sure if this is a trail, it was very steep and required some climbing to get back up) and we found lots of mica and some quartz down by the water. Although it was pretty cold outside, we were able to leave the heat off and stay nice and warm inside the house. Virginia was very responsive and accommodating. I can not say enough good things about our stay.
The property was perfect for our 3 family getaway
The cabin was very spacious and clean. We drove in at night. When we woke up the next morning we had a surprise of 2" of snow on the ground already and a beautiful view of the lake below which we couldn't see in the dark. We went down to Bryson City to take in the mountain town feel and ride the Polar Express. I would definitely recommend this cabin for large families or big get togethers. We will be back!
Big groups should stay here.
There was only one issue, and Virginia was very good to deal with. She made all attempts to keep this issue at bay, but sometimes these things happen. She rescheduled our stay due to the passing of my father. To unite with my friends in this cabin was therapy, and it served us all great. The view of Fontana is superb, and there aren't many homes with this view on this Lake. The home was clean and stocked nicely. She was also kind enough to mail my wife her fit bit that had fallen on the floor and forgotten. We will be returning.
Beautiful views and a great house.
Our family has used this cabin a few times. It's beautiful, roomy and well stocked. Every room has charm and I can't say enough about the views. The owners are very nice and accommodating. We will definitely return.
