About Virginia Acord

David and I own Southern Heritage Woodworks in Sylvester, Georgia. (Google us if you would like more information on our company or products.) We manufacturer flooring and furniture out of reclaimed wood salvaged from old textile mills built prior to the 1920's. We have three boys, 26 21, and 19.

Why Virginia Acord chose Robbinsville

We love to spend time at our cabin to relax and just get away from everyday life. We especially enjoy our time during the Fourth of July. All of our family travels up and we grill and go boat riding, tubing and wake boarding on Fontana Lake. The water is as clear as spring water and still refreshing in July and best of all is not crowded.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the seclusion of our cabin. We have the privacy and tranquility of sitting on the deck, drinking our coffee and enjoying nature.

Beautiful and Secluded

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for an out of the way cabin overlooking Fontana lake, this is the place for you. There were only two of us that decided to get away for a few days but this place can accommodate a much larger group quite comfortably. It is quite secluded which is exactly what we were looking for so you need to make sure you bring groceries and everything you need. We were able to explore the area and rent a pontoon boat for a trip on the lake which is very undeveloped and scenic. There is a fire pit and we enjoyed a night of smores under the stars. A cord of firewood is $75.00 and a gentleman will deliver prior to your arrival. You probably should specify where you want the wood delivered as we had to move it from the side of the house to the firepit which was no big deal. The house is very well stocked as far as utensils and the property owner was prompt in her communication and easy to work with. We will be back!

Very large clean home with unsurpassed views. Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with a family of 10 with plenty of space. Just beautiful views. Enjoyed our morning coffee on fabulous deck. The industrial fan made sitting out pleasant even on hot days. Clean home and very fair pricing. We spent a day on the lake with rented pontoon, the lake was clean and refreshing, but we did see 2 snakes, which then left the girls in the boat after that. Kids went to nearby fontana village to swim in lazy river and pool a couple days too. Kitchen was spacious, as were all the bathrooms. Thank you for sharing your home, it was a wonderful stay. I would definately stay again. The main downfall was being 30 to 45 minutes from anything, although we knew this going in. That said, we still managed to rent a pontoon from alarka, great folks, huge pontoon, went to the Biltmore Estate, The Smokies, drove the Blue Ridge Parkway one day, found a cute brewpub and winery in Andrews, drove the Dragon of course, went to Cherokee, Bryson, and Waynesville, great BBQ and brewbubs, went trout fishing a couple times, and went into Robbinsville. We found a cute honey shop and mead cider place there, where you could sample several honeys, lotions, soaps and mead. Bought several gifts from their shop for friends at home. They also had a food truck outside that was to die for. Spent the evening at Topoco lodge for drinks and dinner on the deck overlooking river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the only disappointment was not seeing a bear, as we had read that from a prior a guest, maybe next time.

The cabin was wonderful. Plenty of room, amazing views and the owners were great to work with.

We had an awesome time. The cabin was beautiful. Plenty of room for everyone. Virginia was so helpful! The views were amazing. We had excellent weather the whole week. We saw 2 bears, one right down the driveway, elk, deer, rabbits and lizards. The Dragon's tail ride was something else. Fontana Dam was very interesting and we rode through Fontana Village. We checked out the marina too. All very close by and the views of Fontana Lake on the way there were awesome. The water was beautiful. We love the mountains, the park, the Grist Mill, Cades Cove, shopping in Pigeon Forge. Deep Creek tubing was amazing also. The water was cold but refreshing and the kids loved all the rocks. The sights and sounds of the waterfalls was very relaxing while walking along the path. We sat out on the porch and played dominoes and watched as a boat would go by every now ans then. Very relaxing. There was something for everyone.

My favorite retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We stay there every year for MINIS on The Dragon. It's the perfect place for a large group to go in together on, and the sunrise over the lake is amazing! Looking forward to returning next year!
