Our home is a beautiful oceanfront getaway located in an unspoiled Florida fishing village. We are located on the Gulf coast and enjoy both gorgeous sunsets and sunrises year round. We are within walking distance of the historic downtown and famous dock street restaurants and shops. If you are looking for a little relaxation in your next Gulf Coast vacation, you must discover Cedar Key, Florida. Our views of the Gulf are panoramic, our style is low-key, and we want you to kick back, get comfortable and most of all, have a great time!
The Thomas Guesthouse is a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath home. Our vaulted ceilings and wall to wall windows offer incredible views of Cedar Key's waterfront and nature preserves. If you are a nature lover, you will be mesmerized by the variety of birds and dolphins that feed in front of your private balcony. Throw open the wraparound windows and feel the sea air and breezes gently relax you as you watch a panoramic sunset filled with the most stunning imagery and colors. Enjoy sunrises with your morning coffee and the spectacular colors of the sunsets each evening.
Cedar Key is surrounded by the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge - a refuge famous for its extensive colonies of nesting birds. Depending on the season you visit, you will see Roseate Spoonbills, White Pelicans, Dowitchers, Willets, Skimmers, Oystercatchers, Frigate Birds, Wood Storks, and many LBBs (little brown shorebirds, from plovers to sandpipers). Always resident are: Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Tricolors, Great Egrets, Osprey, Bald Eagles, and many others.
Our home is fully furnished and equipped for your comfort and convenience. Besides the fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, we also have a laundry area with washer and dryer. Upgrades in 2008 include new bedroom and dining furniture.
Cedar Key is perfect for couples or family vacations. Park your car and walk or use a golf cart to visit our restaurants, galleries, boat rentals, shops, and the town marina. Most dining and shopping options on Dock Street are two blocks from the Thomas Guesthouse. Bikes, scooters, and golf carts are also available if you would like to range a bit further. Cedar Key is part of Florida's Nature Coast--the wildlife is abundant. If you are looking to enjoy old Florida without the crowds, come to Cedar Key and relax on our balcony and watch the birds and boats go by. We promise you will not want to leave.
Golf carts are for rent at the Gulfside Motel just down the street.

This home offers wonderful views, a great location, and very comfortable floor plan. Just a few blocks walking distance to town & restaurants. Take in the charm of Old Florida that Cedar Key offers. Water views straight out to the original Cedar Key settlement (Atsena Island) as well as long projection out to Seahorse Key.
The home offers an ideal private floor plan with three separate bedroom en suites. Kitchen is fine for cooking but be sure to bring your food perishables and amenities since there aren't the usual super markets close by. However there are a few markets to purchase fresh fish, oysters, clams and scallops. Yum-Yum!
The area is great for Kayaking, fishing and cycling around the peaceful island. If you want to see Old Florida as it was, and just chillax, then visit Cedar Key. Ease of booking. Enjoy!
This rental was for 6 of us girls to reunite after not seeing each other in 36-39 yrs.
We had some major disappointments with the rental this weekend.
There was NO internet service and with the house having a metal roof there was limited
phone service or none at all. Some were depending on wifi to keep connected with family and to be able to check
The blinds were broken and missing rods so there was NO daytime view for us.
Some of the blinds were partially open and could not be closed at night. (particularly the master bathroom by the
toilet). The outside deck has no cover, so daytime is unbearable outside. Again NO view.
The 2 upstairs tubs would not drain so we had to stand in high dirty water and in return long wait for next person to shower.
The worse is...dead roach in living room, master tub and in coffee maker.(I have pics) Some of these girls love their morning coffee so they had to get dressed and go get.
I was so embarrassed that I had rented this for me and my friends!! I did contact the owner but NO response from him, only his secretary. She said before he left on his vacation and he said he was unhappy with the condition and blinds were ordered. lol Wonder if his vacation stay is in the same shape ours was?? Wonder if he will be happy??
DO NOT LET THIS HOME FOOL YOU!
We just spent our Christmas vacation at your home. It perfectly accommodated our family of 6 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The island is laid back, the views are spectacular and of course you can't beat a gulf sunset. We ventured off to nearby Homosassa State Park one day and another day we rented a pontoon boat so we could explore and visit the surrounding islands. We had the pleasure of some up close dolphin sightings while we just cut off the engine and took in the beauty around us. Very relaxing and great family time.
My cousins and I just spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the pink house. Loved the porch and spent a lot of time out there just watching the water, birds, dolphins, sunrises and sunsets. Once we were on island time the rest of the world just drifted away. I loved the open downstairs making it possible to visit and watch the sunset while you are preparing supper. As for an earlier comment someone made about the stove...we had no problem with it. We cooked fabulous meals on it twice a day even with the crack. I did need some remedial help figuring out how to make the shower work :-). We enjoyed it so much we are thinking about going back next year.
Our family has just returned from a restful stay in this well-situated home. The views from the decks are fantastic, and the easy walk to both the Dock Street and Second Street shops and restaurants was much appreciated. We also loved the fact we could bring our dog. The management team dealt promptly with all questions.
Leaving aside the decor, which wasn't to my taste (too many fake flower arrangements and dated mauve walls), this home is a great choice in Cedar Key. However, we did experience a major issue with the kitchen cooktop, which had only one functional burner. Half the cooktop is dedicated to some sort of grill contraption, which generated more smoke than heat, while the ceramic side of the cooktop has a giant crack across the glass. When we attempted to use both burners on the ceramic side, the heat wasn't adequate to cook anything properly, so we had to restrict ourselves to just one burner (which made for an almost laughable, two-hour effort to prepare a simple pasta dish featuring our freshly caught scallops).
I did alert the owner to this problem, but if you, like me, prefer vrbo homes to hotels because you can prepare your own meals, I strongly recommend that you confirm the cooktop has been either repaired or replaced before booking this home.
We have been staying in Cedar Key for the long Memorial Day weekend for a number of years now and I think we have found our perfect place! The location truly cannot be beat, we walked into town to pick up our boat, to eat at Steamers and to drink at The Black Dog. But the absolute best was sitting on the wraparound deck and watch the sites. Dolphin, turtles, every imaginable kind of bird and one night we counted eight satellites! There were 5 adults and our large dog and we never once felt crowded. The management was a breeze to work with and we are already looking forward to next Memorial Day!
