About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Our home is a beautiful oceanfront getaway located in an unspoiled Florida fishing village. We are located on the Gulf coast and enjoy both gorgeous sunsets and sunrises year round. We are within walking distance of the historic downtown and famous dock street restaurants and shops. If you are looking for a little relaxation in your next Gulf Coast vacation, you must discover Cedar Key, Florida. Our views of the Gulf are panoramic, our style is low-key, and we want you to kick back, get comfortable and most of all, have a great time!

The Thomas Guesthouse is a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath home. Our vaulted ceilings and wall to wall windows offer incredible views of Cedar Key's waterfront and nature preserves. If you are a nature lover, you will be mesmerized by the variety of birds and dolphins that feed in front of your private balcony. Throw open the wraparound windows and feel the sea air and breezes gently relax you as you watch a panoramic sunset filled with the most stunning imagery and colors. Enjoy sunrises with your morning coffee and the spectacular colors of the sunsets each evening.

Cedar Key is surrounded by the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge - a refuge famous for its extensive colonies of nesting birds. Depending on the season you visit, you will see Roseate Spoonbills, White Pelicans, Dowitchers, Willets, Skimmers, Oystercatchers, Frigate Birds, Wood Storks, and many LBBs (little brown shorebirds, from plovers to sandpipers). Always resident are: Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Tricolors, Great Egrets, Osprey, Bald Eagles, and many others.

Our home is fully furnished and equipped for your comfort and convenience. Besides the fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, we also have a laundry area with washer and dryer. Upgrades in 2008 include new bedroom and dining furniture.

Cedar Key is perfect for couples or family vacations. Park your car and walk or use a golf cart to visit our restaurants, galleries, boat rentals, shops, and the town marina. Most dining and shopping options on Dock Street are two blocks from the Thomas Guesthouse. Bikes, scooters, and golf carts are also available if you would like to range a bit further. Cedar Key is part of Florida's Nature Coast--the wildlife is abundant. If you are looking to enjoy old Florida without the crowds, come to Cedar Key and relax on our balcony and watch the birds and boats go by. We promise you will not want to leave.

Golf carts are for rent at the Gulfside Motel just down the street.

We thought it was beautiful. Inside was decorated like a professional had decorated it.

The only negative I would give it was when we arrived we could not get the freezer door to the refrigerator open. 6 different people tried and finally we got It far enough open that we could get a blow dryer to blow warm air, enough to melt the ice that must have been blocking the door from opening. We felt that it was a charming house and was well equipped with plenty of dishes, and linens. Very nicely located to shops, restaurants, etc. Beautiful views for watching sunsets and sun rises.

Home was spacious and clean.

  • 4 of 5

We went to Cedar Key in August and stayed at the Pink House. Family of 4. Kids loved having their own room and own bathroom. The master suite is large. The house was immaculately clean. The owners were so gracious to allow us to check in early since the last renters had cancelled. The views are phenomenal. The house has a golf cart below, but there was no indication we could use it so we rented one. That was so much fun for all of us. We also rented Kayaks and went out to the uninhabited island that you can see from the back porch. We saw sting rays, birds and crabs. Once night there were dolphins. The fishing was excellent. We caught redfish and flounder.

Most of the locals were uncommonly kind, friendly and welcoming. Kindness beyond words. Although I must say one in particular seemed to be the self proclaimed sheriff and made our business her business. She seemed to patrol the town and needed to remind us of the "rules." That was kind of creepy. The only other negative was the house was a bit outdated. While very clean, in the master there was peeling wall paper and paint. Also, it is very difficult to launch kayaks from the house due to large coral rocks.

All and all you will enjoy your stay here; you can walk downtown and to dock restaurants with little effort. Owners are receptive.

Beautiful Waterfront Home. Great for family.

  • 5 of 5

Spent the 4th of July holiday in the Magical Pink House. Everything was perfect. Three bedrooms & four bathrooms, with lots of open space to hang out. For a family with children, we all had room to have our "own space" inside and outside of the house. Enjoyed fishing from our personal waterfront, and relaxing in the upper deck sitting area. A walk around the corner gave access to the daily sunset. We brought our bikes and had a great time biking and walking around Cedar Key. Love this town and loved staying in this home. Plan to return.

Wonderful Views & Location

  • 4 of 5

Location - Views - Location

This home offers wonderful views, a great location, and very comfortable floor plan. Just a few blocks walking distance to town & restaurants. Take in the charm of Old Florida that Cedar Key offers. Water views straight out to the original Cedar Key settlement (Atsena Island) as well as long projection out to Seahorse Key.

The home offers an ideal private floor plan with three separate bedroom en suites. Kitchen is fine for cooking but be sure to bring your food perishables and amenities since there aren't the usual super markets close by. However there are a few markets to purchase fresh fish, oysters, clams and scallops. Yum-Yum!

The area is great for Kayaking, fishing and cycling around the peaceful island. If you want to see Old Florida as it was, and just chillax, then visit Cedar Key. Ease of booking. Enjoy!

Terrible Terrible dissapointment---Dead Roaches, NO internet

  • 1 of 5

This rental was for 6 of us girls to reunite after not seeing each other in 36-39 yrs.

We had some major disappointments with the rental this weekend.

There was NO internet service and with the house having a metal roof there was limited

phone service or none at all. Some were depending on wifi to keep connected with family and to be able to check

email.

The blinds were broken and missing rods so there was NO daytime view for us.

Some of the blinds were partially open and could not be closed at night. (particularly the master bathroom by the

toilet). The outside deck has no cover, so daytime is unbearable outside. Again NO view.

The 2 upstairs tubs would not drain so we had to stand in high dirty water and in return long wait for next person to shower.

The worse is...dead roach in living room, master tub and in coffee maker.(I have pics) Some of these girls love their morning coffee so they had to get dressed and go get.

I was so embarrassed that I had rented this for me and my friends!! I did contact the owner but NO response from him, only his secretary. She said before he left on his vacation and he said he was unhappy with the condition and blinds were ordered. lol Wonder if his vacation stay is in the same shape ours was?? Wonder if he will be happy??

DO NOT LET THIS HOME FOOL YOU!

Relaxing Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We just spent our Christmas vacation at your home. It perfectly accommodated our family of 6 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The island is laid back, the views are spectacular and of course you can't beat a gulf sunset. We ventured off to nearby Homosassa State Park one day and another day we rented a pontoon boat so we could explore and visit the surrounding islands. We had the pleasure of some up close dolphin sightings while we just cut off the engine and took in the beauty around us. Very relaxing and great family time.
