Last minute family vacay.

This was a VERY last minute trip with my family. And the owners went over & beyond to make it happen for us. The house had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and our family of 5 loved having 2 huge, bathrooms. If we come back to the area; we would definitely stay here again.

Really Nice Pokegama Cabin

We just needed a place to stay in the Pokegama area for a family get together, my brother has a place on the lake. Everyone else stayed at Rutgers SL Lodge, we found this little gem right on the lake. Extremely clean, everything worked, nice appliances and grill, lawn freshly mowed, and plenty of good firewood for our stay. The view of the lake is nice, if it were mine I would cut a couple of trees so you could see more lake. Communication with the owner was A+, Jared responds promptly. Might not be for everyone because of the setback from the lake, but it was perfect for us.

Pokegama Lake Heaven

This is the 3rd straight summer we have rented this property, and at this point it has become a special place to me and to my family as well. It is very clean. extremely comfortable, well kept, and it has a dock on Pokegma Lake....what more do you need?! It also has an outstanding, responsible & responsive owner, Jared, who we can't thank enough for sharing this property with us. See you next summer!

Satisfied but not overly impressed

The property appears new. When we first entered, it appeared very clean; however, when wiping up an ice cube that was melting on the floor, the paper towel was brown. It didn't appear that the floor was mopped prior to us arriving. The police were called the first night we were there due to the owners believing that no one should be renting that night. Owner did call and apologize. The grass had not been mowed so that made sense if they didn't think anyone was due. Someone was coming the next day to mow then for us. They mowed just around the fire pit and nothing else. The chairs and logs left left around the fire pit were left in place. I know this isn't the owners fault. Was just disappointed in a few things. The dock has no power so we couldn't leave our boat there. The landing nearby is a tricky one. You're coming in on the side of the "arm" with no dock as well. Maneuvering this landing would have been difficult. Locals advised us of a better landing to use. This would be a great place to stay for ATV use - we wish we had brought our ATV vs our boat. Trails right along the main road. No additional amenities provided. No bar soap, there was only enough laundry soap to really do a load and half (was willing to wash more for them but no soap). They may not rent it out every week because the fridge and freezer were bare. Every VRBO we've stayed at previously have more "leftovers" from previous guests. Basic condiments, sunscreen etc. Nothing here.

Perfect spot on the lake

Pokegama lake stay

Our family had a great time staying at this place! I have 2 young boys who enjoyed exploring the outside and paddling boarding in the lake. The house is exactly as described and was stocked with everything we needed for our week long stay. We will definitely stay here again!

Quiet Time

Great place for some quiet time! Lake is actually 100 yards from the house, but there is a nice view, although not the view I expected. I still had a fabulous stay and would consider it again. Thanks for the retreat! K.

Pokegama Lake getaway.

Great communication. Requested early check in, they needed time to clean from previous renters but we got there early anyway to launch boats ( boat landing 1/4 mile away), and cleaning gal ( very friendly) said she was almost done and we could start bringing stuff in. We let her finish so we weren’t in her way. Lawn needed to be mowed as mentioned by everyone in our group, young man showed up with firewood and mowed shortly after that. Decent walk down hill to dock, not a swimming beach but with a boat it’s a nice ride out to the island with a nice sandbar and swimming area! Definitely recommend a boat ride to Pickled Loon Bar/Restaurant for a great meal!

Wonderful family vacation

Great location and very clean!

Only thing I would change is putting a tarp over the firewood to keep it dry. Everything else was awesome!!

Clean and quiet!

It was the perfect getaway. The house was spotless and cozy. The property secluded. Three days of none of the noises we hear in our everyday city life! Just the wind in the trees! Jared was super quick to respond to all messages including when we couldn’t figure out how to use the remote! lol

We’ll be back!

A short drive toward lake and away from the highway is where you’ll find a cozy, clean, and modern home-like cabin. If you’ve read the property description, all of it is accurate. There are paddleboards, the beds are very comfortable, a washer/dryer is on site. We’ll be back!

Beautiful home, but only a glimpse of the water

Jared, the owner, was prompt in responding to communication I initiated, & worked with me to adjust our arrival date & time, which was greatly appreciated. The inside of this VRBO, w/ its 2 bed./2 bath. (on either side of the L/R), was absolutely as described. Although built 7 years ago, it appeared much newer than that because it has been kept so clean & maintained. The wood floors looked new & kitchen cabinet space was plentiful. The beds were comfortable w/ hotel-quality bed linens. Bathrooms were spotless w/ thick towels. The kitchen was outfitted w/ non-stick Green Pan pots and pans, & every utensil needed was provided...it was a pleasure to prepare meals there. We all appreciated the Mrs. Meyer's Hand Soap provided in the kitchen and both bathrooms, as well as Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and Dishwasher pods provided. Extra paper towels were provided, which is not always the case with other VRBOs I have rented. WIFI connectivity was perfect, & the large wall-mounted TV provided lots of entertainment in the evenings. The living room has a couch & one chair. I would suggest that another chair be added, as w/ the four of us, there were always 3 of us squished together on the couch. The high-top table was not to my liking. Most seniors like me & my group do not enjoy sitting at them. I'm short, so the chair front was always cutting in to my thighs. The patio has a patio table with umbrella that provided shade when needed, & the Weber BBQ Grill was of good quality to use. All that said, there was great disappointment when we arrived to see that the house was set about 400 yards back from the water's edge, & only a small glimpse of the lake greeted us. That is not what we expected from the VRBO description and photos. Although there is no blatant deception in marketing this property, there has not been transparency...I call it deception by omission. The comment in the description "Enjoy the Views of the Lake from the patio furniture", is not true. I would suggest to the owner that he take a day to come to the property & remove the brush and smaller tree saplings that are blocking what could be a lovely view. There's one taller tree that, unless forbidden by the DNR, I would also remove for truly unobstructed lake views. Lake Pokegama is known for its Walleye fishing, yet no fish-filleting area is provided. The pathway to the dock needs attention w/ a weed-wacker & minor repairs. We would not stay here again due to its proximity to the water.

Perfectly reclusive

The living space was very comfortable and inviting and the access to the dock and lake were wonderful. We all caught so many perch! Wonderful to have access to the paddleboards.

Great Vacation House

We had a wonderful week! Kids caught so many fish off the dock! We enjoyed paddle boarding and just relaxing. Great vacation! We will be back!

Nice newer one level vrbo. Everything was clean and in nice shape. Comfortable beds and pillows.

Cabin was very clean. If you are going to use the lake access, it is about 100 plus feet down a dirt path to the lake. Other than that, the stay was great!!
