About Mrs Caroline Oreilly
We have had a holiday home in France for over 25 years,. We bought this property last year. We love the area and being in a working village. We are hoping to spend more time in France as I am a semi- retired teacher trainer and my husband is a practising psycho therapist. Most of the year we live in Brighton. We have a grown up family
Mrs Caroline Oreilly purchased this House in 2015
Why Mrs Caroline Oreilly chose Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts
This is a lovely house for a family with the two outside area ; the secluded walled garden with the pool and the large terrace on the top floor with the view of the mountains. We are lucky to have 4 double bedrooms and the very large bedroom at the top of the house. This is a very old house and we have tried to retain its character. We think it is comfortable and suitable for families because of the size of the bedrooms. It is not a luxury style villa property! .
What makes this House unique
The location of the property is ideal. 5 minutes away is a lake which caters for all ages and tastes. The beautiful town of Ceret, famed for its Saturday market, is ten minutes' drive. St Jean Pla De Corts has all the amenities of a working village including a restaurant and bar, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is very accessible to the sea, the mountains and the Spanish border (accessed by the nearby A9 motorway). This area boasts 300 days of sunshine per year and there are frequent festivals and cultural events including the Cherry Festival in May and 'La Corrida' in July

Never again. Dirt and Ants!
The house is large and is in a good location. The terrace has lovely views. But don't stay here unless you want a very grubby house, with bathrooms uncleaned, a grubby kitchen and the rest of the house full of dust and cobwebs. Think Miss Havisham with bells on! Garden was a complete mess and infested with ants. In fact we had constant outbreaks of ants in kitchen cupboards, bathrooms even in beds! The owner offered us 100 euros which frankly wasn't enough and communicated with us through her neighbors who tried to improve things a little. But there was such a mammoth task of cleaning that it was never going to be enough. Pool is tiny and because of all garden debris very hard to keep clean even with cover in place. Find somewhere clean where the owners maintain their property properly so that you can enjoy your holiday.
We were extremely disappointed that the Haywood family had such an unhappy time in our lovely home, when the general experience has been excellent and recorded as such.
We take any complaint seriously and acted swiftly to ensure that this client’s extreme anxiety was alleviated.
We must of course as home owners take on board criticism or any concern that is communicated but we emphasise that this occasion was wholly unusual and unique to this particular family. It is of note that we were not contacted by the client until four days into their stay. The problems reported by this visitor will not be repeated.
Compensation was afforded them immediately but how sad to be incapable of recognising the kindness of local friends and workers who set out to ensure that this family’s stay was enjoyable.
The charms of the house should not go unrecognised, the facilities that surround it are wonderful. This however is rural France and not the Cote D’Azur and therefore all residents should manage their expectations appropriately.
We all had a wonderful time in this lovely old French house. It was so spacious, there was plenty of room for 3 boys, two teenagers and four adults. The pool was a godsend as it was so hot, we spent most of the time just splashing about. We did manage to go out and about, some charming places to visit and not too far from the beach. The lakes were very popular, such beautiful scenery. Caroline, Cheryl and Mwona were absolutely amazing, so helpful and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this house, thank you Caroline for letting us stay.
We are de.ighted that you were so happy in our house.Hope your journey wasn’t too bad back. it took us hours to get here!!

The village is ideally situated between the mountains and the sea.
Within a five minute drive there are two beautiful lakes, one equipped for jet skiing , the other for swimming and the hiring of pedaloes as well as zip wires and an adventure trail. In summer there are two places to eat at the lake, one of which is open in the evening and hosts a number of events . Ceret, the nearest local town, is beautiful. It boasts
a wonderful market on a Saturday and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including bull- running in July and the cherry festival in May.
The sea is close by. Argeles has a lovely sandy beach and the famous, picturesque town of Collioure is nearby. We are very close to the Spanish border and Figueres, where the famous Dali museum is
situated,is about three quarters of an hour away.
There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area.
There is the possibility of horse- riding close by as well as a tennis club
There are ski runs about an hour away and all sorts of opportunity for hill, mountain walking and trekking nearby.
This area of the country boasts of having 300 days of sunshine a year!
