Hi Gary and Pam,

We returned last night from beautiful Netarts. Here's the key to the house, with our gratitude. I signed the guest book but want to reiterate that we loved your warm, cozy cabin with the jaw-dropping view.

We loved the happy spirit you created with the travel photos, and the eclectic touches, like the Apple Pie neon sign, which added a rosy glow to the nights. The amenities you provided were fabulous and welcoming.

You created such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making the visit extra relaxing....... ..the star-filled nights were dazzling. --you bring enjoyment to all souls who have been lucky enought to accept your hospitality.

Thanks so much, Gary and Pam for letting us rent your lovely home. We adored every minute and hope to return.

Enjoy the summer and be well,

Property is good. It could easily sleep six but perfect size for four.

Somehow I did not get the lock box code before I arrived at the property. I tried contacting the owner but could not get a hold of them for three hours. My experience with VRBO and how they treated me on the phone was horrendous. I called them 15 minutes after not getting into the property. I was on hold for 15 min before talking to a representative. They took my information and told me that they were going to be able to get me the door lock code once they elevated this case to the case manager. I was on hold for another 20 min. They then told me that they were going through all the phone numbers of the owners when VRBO made it sounded like they had the code but were not willing to give it to me until a certain time. They then put me on hold for another 15 min. After being on the phone with VRBO for an hour, they said they were going to make it right to me and my friends by getting us into another "rental". As protocol, we just had to wait one hour for the property owner to give us a call back with the lock box code. Well, an hour passed, I called VRBO and was promptly put on hold for another 20 min. VRBO then told me that they woulld start looking for nearby hotels rooms. That was unacceptable given that we purchased and had in coolers four days of Thanksgiving food for six people which would be impossible to do. VRBO representatives kept leading us on like they were helping but it turned out, the only thing they were doing was calling the rental owner with the same phone number we had. They also said that if we went to another rental they would not cover the cost even though there were VRBO rentals available in the area. VRBO also said if there were issues of getting our money back, we would have to go through our credit cards. VRBO was completely looking out for their own interests and and did not make things right. Three hours later we got a hold of the property owner, got the key code , and had a wonderful weekend.

Lovely rental! Would stay again!

We were more than satisfied with our stay! The unit was the perfect size for a family of 5. The 3rd bedroom is more of a loft than a bedroom and can sleep one person comfortably. The views are breath taking and it's a close - can be steep for children and elderly - walk down to the beach. Would recommend this unit to others! Thanks Gary and Patricia!

Really, really nice!

What a view! We had very easy beach access. The firewood was stacked and ready to go. We needed it too. A large storm brought lots or rain and occasional thunder. It was great. We liked the 70's vibe and the Apple Pie beacon brought us home when we were walking the beach at night. The home provided everything we needed for our quick weekend trip. Hope to be back soon.

Great location with stunning views. Close and easy beach access.

If you're looking for a pristine property, this is not for you. If you're looking for incredible views in a cozy home then this is the place. I would call it a two bedroom. The loft offers an additional bed but I wouldn't consider it a room. The living room is small and really only comfortably seats 4 people. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to make wonderful meals. The deck is wonderful for barbecues or coffee and sea air in the morning. The fireplace is great but not safe for young children. Plenty of games and puzzles on hand. The stairwell may be tricky for very young and elderly. We thoroughly enjoyed this home and were sad to leave it.

Wonderful vacation in August.

Our family had a very comfortable stay. The view and location is perfect.

The beds are good. The kitchen works well. The path down to the beach is easy to navigate. Lots of great tide pools. Stay here!

Nice views, nice location. Not especially clean, and you have to supply propane for grill.

  • 2 of 5

The location is great. I've stayed at a property a couple of houses down from this one in the past and the views are great on most of the houses on Pearl Street. The property is obviously a rental: things are a little funky and grungy but generally acceptable. There are two stories and a loft, so be aware that only two of the bedroom offer privacy. You will not be able to get a "dark" room in any of the bedrooms because of the floor to ceiling windows. This is a blessing for the views, and a curse on sunny afternoons when the temperature in the house is difficult to manage even with fans blowing and all windows and doors open.

Cleanliness wasn't great. There is a lamp that hangs over the stove in the kitchen that is below eye level. This glass lampshade is greasy and hairy, generally a little unappealing. The place isn't totally dirty, but it's definitely not clean. I suppose this is to be expected in a place that is used by renters day after day. When paying almost $400 per night, I would have expected more though.

The trail down to the bay's beach is manageable, even by my 78 year old parents.

I was most disappointed that the advertisement touts a grill on the deck. My family including folks from out of town arrived at the house after nearly 15 hours of driving, flying, trains, and much more driving. We brought steaks, sausages, hamburger patties, ingredients to make salads, and all of the associated items for grilling outdoors and finally being able to relax and eat after a very long day. We were supremely disappointed to discover that the nice Weber grill had an empty gas tank. There were several other gas tanks chained up near the parking area in front of the house, but they were mostly empty too. One of the tanks did have maybe 20% remaining, but since it was chained up in the front we weren't able to use it for the grill. We were hungry and tired, so we just used some of the pots and pans to cook our food in the kitchen, which had to have been around 90 degrees that afternoon. So our experience was pretty tainted because of that. If you rent this property, be warned that you should bring your own gas.

I rented a neighboring house during the off season 2 years prior to this one and paid about 1/4 the price for only slightly less space.

Overall, nice view and good location but not very clean and the "perks" like the grill (and crab boiler pot) should not be assumed to be usable unless you bring your own propane.

What makes this house unique

The beach is in our back yard and we have a 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean

Guestbook comments from the owner

Pam and Gary,

Just a quick note to let you know that the "dry landers" from Colorado were delighted with your rental home. My husband Dave & I have traveled a great deal on the Oregon coast, staying in many B&B's,inns and cottages. We can think of no other that has offered the sights & sounds of the Northwest Coast as well as your home. Our friends, who were on their first trip to the Oregon coast, were equally as pleased. How fortunate you are to own such a beautiful property & how wonderful for us to have found your web info. Thank you again. I know you will hear from us again.
